Okay, let's get back to some golf that counts. Stacy Lewis and Erika Hara received tourney invites. Haeji Kang is the first LPGA reserve and Mara Sanz Barrio is the first LET reserve.
The new LPGA priority list is posted ... I'm guessing these players will have no problem getting into any of the regular U.S. events for the rest of 2024:
136. Ssu-Chia Cheng 137. Yu Jin Sung 138. Xiaowen Yin 139. Ruixin Liu 140. Polly Mack 141. Mary Liu 142. Caroline Inglis 143. Weiwei Zhang 144. Savannah Grewal

Is anyone bothering to turn up? In Gee's still out, Amy's giving it a miss. I looked into getting flights from London-Glasgow and then heading down the Ayrshire coast but my wife correctly pointed out this won't be like Evian. My legitimate concern is when the British Open is held in Scotland then a Scottish Open the week before will be poorly attended. If the LPGA is serious in growing the game in Europe (I don't think they are) then they need to hold tournaments close to major cities. The crowds in Paris for Olympic golf were easily double those at Evian which is held in the middle of nowhere.

AP is out of the Epson tournament, but reserve 43 for this, what gives? Maybe she will try to qualify for The Open? 🤔
At least she is in the field for the inaugural Mass tournament following the British by the skin of her teeth via reshuffle points.

On her socials Amy Yang is already in Scotland but she's on the East Coast at St Andrews. I guess taking a little R&R after the Olympics and enjoying the attractions in Scotland. Maybe some whisky drinking and taking in the Edinburgh Festival.
I've seen LPGA Korea posted a good number of Korean players already practicing on Monday - it was even sunny and the wind wasn't blowing. That won't last!

Groups are set ... MHL gets Ana Pelaez Trivino and NASA. Trivino went to U. of S. Carolina, so she might have bumped into MHL at Cobblestone Park. At least they'll be in the broadcast window on Friday, which I plan to watch. The Zhangster gets Grant ... and Chiara Tamburlini?! Shibuno Fever get BadA$$ ... and Shannon Tan?! How the mighty have fallen, AL Kim gets Sara Kjellker and Anne-Charlotte Mora.

My field rating for this event is a pretty solid 60.5%, up from 55% last year. My breakdown is 62% from the LPGA Priority List and 59% from the Rolex Rankings. The field will be led by top ten players: Lilia Vu (#2) Jin Young Ko (#4) Celine Boutier (#7) Ayaka Furue (#8) Rose Zhang (#9) Top ten players not teeing it up this week: Nelly Korda (#1) Amy Yang (#3) Hannah Green (#5) Ruoning Yin (#6) Yuka Saso (#10)
Other Stuff: Moriya Jutanugarn's victory at the Portland Classic was the fourth win for a player from Thailand. The USA leads with ten, but no other country has more than two. As I have said multiple times this year, the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year Award is more competitive this year than most. Mao Saigo continues to lead with 513 points. Gabriela Ruffles moves back into second with 422 points. She is followed in third place by Jin Hee Im with 418 points. Nataliya Guseva bolts into the fourth spot with 279. So Me Li rounds out the top five with 251.
There has been some big moves in the Rolex Rankings since I last reported two weeks ago: Nelly Korda remains number one for the 21st consecutive week and 58th week overall. She is 7th on the all-time list, and in 2 weeks will pass Annika Sorenstam for 6th. Lydia Ko made the biggest splash this week with a golden move from 22 to 12. Bronze Medalist Xi Yu Lin moves from 20 to 17. Silver Medalist Esther Henseleit surges from 54 to 42. Moriya Jutanugarn climbs back into the top 100, leaping from 130 to 87. There were some big moves outside the top 100: Bianca Pagdanganan bounces up from 125 to 106. Morgan Metraux springs up from 137 to 125. Mariajo Uribe vaults up from 196 to 165, and retired after the event. Dotti Ardina powers her way up from 260 to 232. Dewi Weber hurdles her way up from 336 to 296. Polly Mack catapults up from 419 to 335.
In the Race to the CME Globe where you need to finish in the top 100 to keep your full playing privileges for next year: Nataliya Gusev wrapped up her 2025 playing card by skyrocketing from 62 to 36. Angel Yin looks to have done the same exploding up from 101 to 63. So Mi Lee made great strides towards that goal as she advances from 88 to 71. Ruixin Liu (104 to 93) and Polly Mack (140 to 94) jumped back into that all important top 100. Sofia Garcia just misses the top 100, improving from 154 to 101.

I guess this event is no longer sanctioned with the Thai Trust Bank since the Northern Ireland event is no mas. I remember Piano and CW playing here as neophytes pre lpga.

Georgia deserves Betty the dog. She suffered enough with Harry Tyrrell, O'Toole & the rat-faced weasel.

Weather delayed the tee times by one hour and now Round One is suspended. Ugh, MHL is +2 thru 5 holes ... and partner NASA is +3 ... both are wondering how frickin' Trivino (arrived with six straight MCs) is tied for first at -2.

I watched the coverage for 45 minutes before they showed the first Korean: Hyo Joo Kim starting her round. A Lim is on the leaderboard but they are too busy showing LET scrubs who are six shots behind her. Oh, and Lydia, because we didn't get enough coverage of her last week (but let's be fair, she deserves it and is playing well to boot).
Hopefully we will start seeing more Sisters once the afternoon waves start...

My interest in this tournament almost evaporated quickly but I see Yealimi birdied 3 in a row to get back to E and A Lim is tied first. Go go!

They actually showed Hye-Jin on the broadcast! And Jin Young, and the current 1st round clubhouse leader, A Lim Kim! Go sisters!
On a side note, don't know if Alice Hewson has shown up on the telecast, but I don't think I've seen her name on a tournament leaderboard since the 2023 Hanwha, if you know what I mean..
