It runs Aug. 5 thru 11 at Southern Hills CC in Tulsa, OK. Soomin Oh appears to be the only player being sent over by the KGA and is exempt in two categories (WAGR top-20 on March 27 and WAGR top-50 on June 5). She is one of sixty-eight exempt players, which includes the usual suspects ... Clemente, Davis, Donegan, Englemann, Filler, Ganne, Heck, Koo, Kuehn, Malixi, Migliaccio, Rao, Shoemaker, Stone, Wilson and Woad. Kuehn's mom, Brenda Corrie Kuehn, also got in for being the runner-up in the 2023 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.
Qualifying is completed ... a few names stick out ... Victoria Liu (aka Lefty Sung Hung) of Princeton U. made it in Calgary on June 17 ... Leigha Devine (ex-Rutgers U.) made it in Colorado on June 18 ... Katie Lu (Michigan St. by way of NJ) made it in NJ on July 2 ... career am Jackie Rogowicz made it in Maryland on July 9. Also, the two spots available in Hawaii on July 9 were filled by players from Japan (one of them plays at Baylor U.) and the first alternate is also from Japan.
Momo Kamiya's first overseas trip ... low medalist on July 18 at La Rinconada CC, just south of San Jose. I think she is the baby sis of JLPGAer Sora Kamiya (both wear Yamaha caps). There's also a player called Momoka Kamiya, who won a low am trophy on the JLPGA last fall ... don't know if she is related to Momo and Sora.

Maybe the KGA pulled the rug out from under Soomin Oh ... she is no longer on the exempt player list. It looks like Nikki Oh will be the low Oh by default.

Maxi Malixi (67, -4) is at it again ... leads by one stroke after Day One of stroke play. I thought Ganne was going to play this one, but she dropped out. Except for Katie Li (71, E), all the NJ players (by residence or school) played mediocre or lousy. However, C. Rao (Princeton U.) and Katie Lu (Plainsboro, NJ) are only one shot off the current cut line of +4, so they are very much alive.
*******
I am guessing that she will turn pro after this event ... the deadline for Stage One LPGA q-school is August 13, although she might be good enough to start at Stage Two. She played great at Lancaster and lousy in Calgary, so who knows what to expect from her later on.
Defending champion Megan Schofill is all smiles after making a birdie putt on the 16th green during Monday's first round. The Auburn University graduate posted a 1-under 70 at Southern Hills C.C. (Kathryn Riley/USGA)

Aigoo, it will be 20 players gunning for 10 spots in the playoff. That's five foursomes playing the 10th and 11th holes.
Maria JosΓ© Marin (U. of Arkansas by way of Cali, Colombia) was low medalist at -4 ... shot 70.83 for The Hogs during her first season in 2023-24.

https://www.instagram.com/p/C-YrmTeyAlQ Two USC Trojans advanced to round of thirty-two, The best USC golfer Catherine Park left her lag putt about eight feet short on eighteen. She three putted and lost one up. Only saw Jasmine Koo on two or three holes. Bailey Shoemaker advanced to Match play after the morning playoff. Her game was off, eight over par with one birdie, won eighteen one up with a bogey.

I guess Rachel Kuehn is finally going to have to leave the Demon Deacons. She became my favorite Wake Forest golfer after she took over for my other favorite Jennifer Kupcho. Jennifer lost points with me after she blew the playoff with Rose Zhang.

The Princeton pepper pot did it again ... needs two more wins to reach the Quarters for the third straight year.

It will be Championship 2.0 between Rianne Malexi and Asterisk Talley. In case you missed it they were in the USGA Junior Finals which Rianne won.
