In other news, Japan's WLC Salonpas Cup "major" (May 2-5) will include Su Ji Kim, Minbyeol Kim, Hyosong Lee(a), Gaeun Song and Yeah, Lee Won. Their dreams of winning will probably be ruined by Ayakee Furoo.

Unlike the first two Korea-based events, this one is on a long course that really benefits sluggers. This article suggests that it might give Ina Yoon her first chance to shine.We'll see, but it's also a three round event, so one has to get out to a good start. Ina has done her best in her first round the past two weeks, so we'll see if she can do that three events in a row. Eun Woo Choi won this event last year for her first ever victory. Ji Young Park is coming off an incredible week and looks to continue her form, and Hyun Kyung Park is also on record as liking this place. By the way, even without hitting driver most of the time, Ina is currently third in Greens in Regulation this season at 84%. |

Ina Yoon had a pretty good crowd following her and cheering her on.
Almost chipped in for Eagle on eighteen, but the birdie gave her minus on.
Ji Young Park must have dropped out before the start.
She was paired with Eun Woo Choi and Jae Hee Kim, and it looks like they are a twosome.

This afternoon I opened up the leaderboard and Ina was in second place at 3 under; but alas right after that she made three straight bogies. Still, she had a birdie to finish and is at the moment four back.
On her final hole, the par 5 9th, Ina smashed her drive 308 yards, about 35 yards farther than her playing partner Da Been Heo and 65 yards farther than Seo Yoon Kim. Her second wound up in the rough next to the green but she got up and down from there, leaving her fourth about 6 inches from the hole.
So far Min Byeol is not doing all that well again. I sure can't wait until she irons all this out and gets back to kicking butt. She was too solid last year to have completely lost her game so quickly. Personally I think she's worrying too much about getting that first win. Just play your best and try to notch good finishes and the win will soon come.
Also looks like we finally found a course the rookies like. Hyun Jo Yoo, Ji Yu Lim and Dongeun Lee all had nice starts.

Round 1
Min Byeol had a pretty bad round today even by her struggling standards. She had an early double to get behind the eight ball. She got back to +1 with three to go, then made bogey-bogey and a par on the final par 5. On hole 8 she had a three putt including a four foot miss, and on 7 she missed another shortish par save after hitting a decent chip. Her strokes gained putting is now -2.33, which is 108th in the league.
Four rookies in the top ten with another just outside of it. Could be a breakthrough week for a young player.
