It's amazing how quickly I figure out what the result is going to be when watching a final round.
I started watching on hole 4. Jiyai was a shot behind but missed a ~4 foot par putt. A few holes later she hit a terrible approach from the fairway. She got up and down and was still just 2 back, but I could just sense it wouldn't be her day. Not too long after she missed a par save and I gave up. Shin shot a horrible 77 and plunged down the leaderboard. Once again, Buhai somehow captures a national championship at the expense of Koreans. This marks the third time, after beating In Gee in the playoff at the British, then grabbing this event last year by one over Shin, and now, once again, a one shot win over Minjee with Shin and Shin third.
This one is going to sting for a while. Final Round Queen had a golden chance to win this and had one of her worst final rounds I can remember. A 72 and she's in a playoff; a 71, and she has the title. Yeah, the conditions were tough, but she managed a 9 under total at the 2012 British in the worst conditions I have ever seen at any tournament -- it snowed!! It was so dark you could barely see the players. This was pattycake compared to that.
Ach. Compound that with the fact that Sisters finished 2-3-3 and t-7th. So many players who could have won.
Ah well, whatever. Time to concentrate on the future. Q-Series baby. Hwaiting!
