This one kicks off Fri., Aug 7 at Ora CC on Jeu Island. The field of 132 includes a surprise entrant, WinBee Park (that's Dunlop's new name for her).

I forgot to mention that the field will include JLPGA veteran Da Ye Na. Maybe it's a sponsor deal...she's skipping the Meiji Cup in Japan where she picked her one career JLPGA win in 2013.

Is In Gee Chun in the field? Did not see her name on the round one start times. Nor did I see Jung Min Lee's name.

It's probably a good bet that if In Gee is not on the poster, she's probably not in the field. She's got to be a top selling point for these events at this point!
Good thing she's resting. I think she was pretty tired at the British, as she usually is the week after winning an event on another tour (see also Salonpas and US Women's Open; the week after those wins were either WDs or fairly weak results).
The defending champ is Chae Young Yoon. The popular player won her first and thus far only KLPGA event here after nine years on tour.

Thanks, she deserves a break.

Round 1: Inbee Park Tied for Lead
Inbee Park has had a truly amazing career, but there is one interesting fact that not many of her fans realize: she has never won a pro event in her home country, South Korea. She has won in America, France, Britain, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, China and Canada among others, but has never gotten a win either at the many KLPGA events she has tried or at the Hana Bank. This week, Inbee is coming off one of her greatest triumphs, her 7th Major win at the Women's British Open. She is in Korea playing in one of her sponsor's events, and though she has many distractions, including a sick dog, and is tired, she is very motivated to finally get a trophy in Korea. To this end, she started by shooting a first round 67 to put herself into a share of the lead with two rounds to play. Inbee had five birdies and no bogies. In Gee Chun and Jung Min Lee, both of whom also played in Scotland, took the week off. But Jin Young Ko, who nearly won last week before Park hunted her down, is also sponsored by Samdasoo, and so was in the field. She played with Inbee on Friday but only produced a 73. Defending champ Chae Young Yoon shot a 72. Two more days! Scores: 1. Inbee Park, Je Yoon Park 67 -5 3. So Yeon Park, Eun Woo Choi, Yuna Park 68 -4 Notables: 6. Jung Eun Lee 5 69 -3 15. Hye Youn Kim, Bo Kyung Kim, Chae Young Yoon, Ji Hyun Oh, Ji Hee Kim, Min Young Lee 71 -1 30. Jin Joo Hong, Ji Young Park (R), Char Young Kim, Han Sul Ji (R) 72 Even 46. Jung Eun Lee's T-33 finish in Michigan must have done her a lot of good...she's now the 3rd alternate in Portland. The KLPGA is off next week, so she could fly across the Pacific and hope to get in, or maybe Monday qualify. Seul Ah Yoon

Inbee has a lot of pressure on her this week. It is inexcusable that she hasn't won an event in Korea. She needs to do it this week or stay in Korea until she gets it done.
