Rookie year is tough. Some players need a little more down time to get used to the marathon. If she needs to play looser here and there so she's focused when it counts (Majors, for instance), that's fine. The other week, she shot a final round 65 and leapt to third after playing indifferent golf most of the week, so you never know what might happen...

You are right pacing themselves is key to finishing the year strong I believe. But sometimes to me Min Byeol looks like it's just a walk in the park for her. I guess I just expect too much of the exceptional talented players. On another note as to why I think this way. I followed So Yeon a lot in her early years and thought she was a shoe in for HOF. When she was in the fairway no matter where the pin was tucked, she would have a legitimate birdie putt. She was in the Fairway most of the time back then. Her only weakness was sometime missing clutch putts. Still she has a great career with at least twenty wins or more it just that I thought she would have even more. |

tv.naver.com/v/39235477High One FR Highlights Tough round by So Yeon Ryu. I only watched the first hour and So Yeon had good birdie chances which came up short. It seems like stress has replaced the smile that used to be on So Yeon's face.

It was a frustrating third round for me. Most of my faves on the leaderboard faded, and they barely showed a lot of them. For instance, despite Min Byeol's great round I don't think they showed her even once, but they showed every shot for players like Ye Sung Jun. I like Ga Young so I guess I'm rooting for her, or So Mi if she can have a good final day, but it would have been epic to see Da Been, Jae Hee, So Yeon or even Carrie with a great chance to get a first win (or rare win in the case of the Perfect Woman).
Ah well, hoping for great finishes for them all. Hwaiting!

I guess to separate yourself from the others is to hole out twice for an Eagle.
Jin Seon Han just holed out for her second Eagle to take a five shot lead after the eleven hole.

Man, Han is just having a ridiculous round. Besides two hole outs for eagle, she had just made a lengthy birdie on the hole before the second hole out. Guess she's got this one in the bag!

Min Byeol made a big run, got to 8 under (t-2), then made several unforced errors to drop right back down. A t-2 would have gotten her ahead of Hwang in the ROY race. Still a good week for her.

Congratulation to Jin Seon Han for her come from behind win.
Min Byeol Kim did not have the Final Round magic like last week.
Still she moved a little closer to You Min Hwang.
Next week Major, will kind of sort things out in a lot of major catagories.
Another over par round for So Yeon Ryu.
To be honest I was hoping that someway she could get a top ten.
Her flat swing is not a good fit for her, it will work better for a shorter person.
If her timing isn't perfect her hips open too quick and she hit her tee shot short and right.
Kind of felt bad for Je Young Lee because she didn't play as bad as her score indicated.
She had terrible luck with her putts, one putt for some reason defied gravity and set on the edge of the hole.

This is Ye Sung Jun. Not to be confused with Yu Jin Sung. And I was just starting to memorize Yu Jin's name without resorting to that stupid "Young Jordan Speith" mnemonic... My way of remembering that has been "Eugene Sung". I'm always tempted to call her Su Jin Jung because Sung is a rare name in Korean compared to Jung, but now that I think Eugene I never have that problem.  There are a lot of gals with very similar names these days, not just the ones who have the exact same name but different numbers. I always used to get Jung Min Hong and Ji Won Hong confused. Then there Yun Ji Jeong and Yeon Ju Jung, So Yeon Bae and Soo Hyun Bae... It's one of the reasons I like Shin Sil Bang, there's no one else with a name like that! |
