Well at least there is one USC Trojan left after Bailey Shoemaker 2&1 win over Malia Nam.
Don't know if it was good luck or bad luck that they played each other that insured that one USC Trojan moved on.

I posted about Bailey Shoemaker and Malia Lam before I watched the Match.
Bailey was lucky to get the win, because Malia missed good birdie chances on fifteen sixteen and seventeen.
She was one down at the time and she missed a two foot putt on eighteen that would have tied the Match.

The broadcaster's audio has been broken for over 30 minutes ... no great loss. 
The Princeton pepper pot is making a mess at #16 and will fall back into a tie in her match ... not wearing her Tigers uniform (or else she'd be laughed at).
Heck just walloped Oh, but we'll see more of Nikki in the future.
It's extremely rare to see a lefty woman golfer, but there are three among the last 16 players. The best is Anna Davis who leads her match 2-up through 10 and has a favorable bracket ... I think she's going all the way to the finals. |

Bailey Shoemaker the last USC Trojan made it to the round of sixteen before losing.
Briana Chacon kept the streak alive that no winner of stroke play has ever won the Tournament.
Rachael Kuehn a formal stroke play winner also got knocked out.

Catherine Rao's unexpected loss on Friday sucked the air out of the event. Whan needs to make this a double elimination tournament. Great course that is almost too perfect. Meanwhile the LPGA is stuck at overrated Wilshire CC and Palos Verdes Municipal.

Catherine Rao's unexpected loss on Friday sucked the air out of the event.
The Princeton pepper pot could not have beaten Heck with an axe. Nevertheless, Rao reached the quarters for the second straight year with a swing that didn't look so good compared to others I saw on Thursday's TV broadcast. I saw her college debut last September at Springdale GC ... Princeton (aka Team Asia) hasn't posted its 2023-24 sked yet. This was the second time I heard of her hometown, Camarillo ... the first time was in a Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson movie; a reference to a woman getting out of (or escaping from) a nut house there.
For me, it's Anna Davis' loss on Friday that spoiled the weekend at Bel-Air CC ... she plays the game with a half-buzzed facial expression.

I'm missing in that photo but I saw myself many times in the GC replay following Heck's front nine today. I should drag my self to the final 18 tomorrow. Free ice cold non environmentally conforming plastic water bottles, free parking, free admission & immediate shuttle rides. But, that 74 mile drive home stinks.

Camarillo State Hospital was world famous. Tragically, they shut it down, set the lunatics free and now it's California State University Channel Islands. That's a big downgrade.

I should have gone today but it's always about traffic. Yesterday the complimentary chilled cloth towel provided to the spectators after nine holes is something I'll never forget. Thank you Mike. No hard feelings. Free parking, free shuttle, free entrance and free bottled water.
Now CEO Whan needs to ban AimPoint.

Megan Schofill knocked off Latanna stone in the 36-hole final, 4 & 3. Schofill might have a future in the pros ... had a 71.67 scoring average as a senior at Auburn in 2022-23.
I looked up Auburn's program ... that's a hopping place these days. Katie Cranston and Casey Weidenfeld also made it match play here, along with 2024 freshman Anna Davis. Anna Foster just played the AIG WO. They also announced that Ami Gianchandani (aka The Yale Librarian) transferred to Auburn to play her Covid 5th season. The head coach is Melissa Luellen who played the LPGA for 11 years ... I don't remember the name, but she won the defunct Stratton Mountain event in Vermont in 1991. I remember seeing her assistant head coach on the LPGA, Kim Hall.
