www.lpga.com/news/2015-reignwood-annoucementThe bizarre world of golf in the PR of China strikes again...the LPGA announced that the 2015 Reignwood Pine Valley Classic is being shelved...no reason given. They're working on a 2-year extension starting in 2016. They should move this event to the REAL Pine Valley...a total fantasy, of course, but I'd be there in a nano-second. www.lpga.com/news/2015-meijer-lpga-announces-datesWow, they're moving this one to Father's Day weekend for 2016 and 2017...who'll be there to watch it? It'll compete directly against the USO.

Your guess is as good as any, but I don't buy it at all. Are they worried that a lot of the Solheim players will go directly home, instead of to China? I assume there are direct flights from Germany to China. Is there really that much concern about the Solheim Cup in Asia? They're not even in it! The President's Cup looks a lot more interesting over there.
My speculative guesses are that the organizers are getting a lot of last-minute interference from the government or maybe some shifty sponsors can't come up with any money at the moment of truth. Didn't this happen one other time in China many years ago? I think so...can't remember if it was under Whan, Bivens, or Votaw.

There was a week break between Solheim and Reignwood...so that's not a good excuse for any of the Yank diva's that travelling from Germany to Beijing was too much and they would not have time to take out their hair ribbons and face paint after another lop sided defeat to the Euros......Ole Ole. Likely Reignwood got tired off the extortion grease pay-offs to the local officials to hold the event...you know how those shifty Chinese operate...wait...I'm one of them.

I love the people who manage http://www.lpga.com.....ya gotta luv their implicit humor....they have Stacy Lewis in the banner of the Reignwood announcement....now that's PURE GOLD. So which merlin at the LPGA or Meijer decided to hold the event opposite to the USO.....duh.

That's fantastic...... so you and Whan will be the only fans at Meijer watching this event while the entire golf fan base will be watching the USO. Congrats to the soon to be Spartan.

Phil It's kinda sad that you think the same as I...we used the same word as we were typing out our responses simultaneously. Yes...some other China event was cancelled last minute...I believe under Whan's reign. I think the Chinese are boasting an robust economy that's non-existent.....I was there in 2011....there were many huge commercial projects that were abandoned by many developers....why not?....they didn't have that much invested...as my fellow country men/women were working for a bowl of rice/day.

But the announcement said that Reignwood also signed a two year extension, and that the move was to "accommodate" a sponsor request. Any time I hear words like that, my first thought that comes to mind is that they want to move the tournament date. Now, it is possible Reignwood took a huge hit with the recent Chinese economic downturn, but if that were the case, wouldn't Reignwood just back out all together?

China liked golf for awhile, but Xi Jinping is putting an end to that. Jan S. can continue to worry about Korea destroying the LPGA but no longer needs to fret about Red China.

Were talkin about China. Do you really think Reignwood would honor a future announcement considering they cancelled the event 10 weeks prior without explanation....and I think Whan knows better than to ask questions. If they do great...if not...oh well. Here's country that had excavators on site virtually the next day to sweep and bury the accident under the rug. Our tour guide said the only reason why the excavators stopped burying the trains was that someone heard a crying baby. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Ap0aRUx8EHere's a country that took our passports every night. When I was there on a vacation in 2011, our tour guide asked for everyone's passport each evening after we checked into a new hotel. And it's not as if they are gathered in a bag and put away in the hotel's safe. I couldn't sleep one night....went outside at 4am...passed through the lobby only to see a front desk clerk looking at everyone's passport scanned into a computer. If I didn't comply....likely 4 men in blue overcoats would show up banging on my hotel door at 3am.....thrown into a van, driven out to a rice paddy field an hour away and never to be heard from again. But I have no regrets being a Smiling Buddha.

I'm not surprised Reignwood aint' happening. I was wondering when the ax would fall. Xi Jinping is carrying a big broom to sweep out corruption and I've read news referring to government statements claiming golf courses were a symbol of corruption.
