Inviting a KLPGAer to play in Japan is nothing new, but I don't remember this event ever bringing over three at once ... and they skimmed the cream with Minji Park, Su Ji Kim and So Mi Lee. I'll be curious to see if any of them have fanboys in Japan. Also playing is Baba-chan and Her Royal Majesty Princess Mary Superal. It starts Thursday at Ibaraki GC (West) for a field of 120 ... top-60 plus ties make the cut. They're charging ¥10,000 (about $73 USD) for a four-day ticket.

Tuesday practice -
They're here ....
So Mi Lee will be grouped with Lala Anai and Hori Two on Thursday ... couldn't find pics of the other two, but Min Ji Park will be with Yuri Yoshida and Chairwoman Mao and Su Ji Kim will be with Erika Hara and Nana Suganuma.
Teresa Lu
Ayaka Watanabe and Baba-chan
Rumi Yoshiba
Hina the Face and I think that's Sho Something, the former coach of Shibuno Fever.

This is a good test for Min Ji to see where her game rates internationally. So Mi has already had some success on the LPGA (top fives), but Min Ji has yet to succeed outside of Korea in very limited action.
A few years ago I would have considered Min Ji a prohibitive favorite, but the Japanese tour has improved since the days when In Gee came in and easily swept two Majors. I do think she would expect at least a top ten to consider this a successful test. Good luck to her!

Ibaraki/west is ranked #25 in Japan on the online top-100 list. I'm pretty sure this place has been used for JLPGA Q-school ... may have also been used for USWO qualifying, but I'm too lazy to look it up. The place is quite old, but Rees Jones gave it a huge facelift in 2011.

The early Wed. morning photos are flowing in and there was a Su Ji sighting (below) ... nothing yet for Min Ji.
Others:
Serena Aoki
Momoko and Ai
Yuri Yoshida and Haruka Kawasaki
They found So Mi again

This is the second straight year at Ibaraki (West) ... after further research, they've been playing Ibaraki (East or West) for this event going back many years. This year's rough will be set at 70 mm (2.76"), but will exceed 100 mm (3.94") in some places ... also, new bunkers were added to #9 and #11.

The Three Amigos are going out in the afternoon wave ... the morning wave is getting crushed as five out of sixty players are under par.
Recent winner and tour bomber Sora Kamiya is bombing out, +7 thru seven holes and tied for DFL with Ting Ting.
Hyosong Lee (+6 thru 12 holes) won't be low am at this rate, except that Baba-chan is only two strokes better.

The cream called Min Ji Park rose to the top of this bloodbath at -2 thru 10 holes when I went to bed ...
... and then the cream turned sour:
Hole OUT 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 IN TOTAL Par 36 4 4 5 3 4 3 4 5 4 36 72 Score 35 3 5 6 5 4 5 4 5 4 41 76
More trivia: This is her third trip to Japan ... first time was at age 13 for two months of "training" in Okinawa with her mom ... second time was a Korea vs. Japan team amateur event.
Ting Ting quit after 14 holes ... she would have made more money playing for China this week.
Su Ji Kim (+3) ... I assume this is a local looper ... he doesn't look like the guy she's with on pictures at Naver.
So Mi Lee ... based upon Naver pictures, she employs The Invisible Man in Korea, so this might be the same guy.
I don't think you get a low-am trinket unless you make the cut and Baba-chan (+5) is outside the line, for now.
Where are the Vision 54 ladies when you need them? Momoko Ueda (+1) is 0 for 53 in winning a Japanese major coming into this one.
Kana Nagai (+4)
Kotona Izumida (+6)

Yui Kawamoto at plus four has a chance with a decent round to make the cut. Kotone Hori at plus seven got work to do. Min Ji Park started the back nine with a birdie to go two under. After that the wheels came off, with a bogey, bogey, double bogey, par double bogey. So Mi Lee even par and Su Ji Kim plus three are still in it.
I guess Min Ji has an outside chance, but she had the same up and down rounds on the KLPGA.

The Three Amigos picked up the early shift on Friday ... Kim and Park are playing par golf for the day, while Lee is -1 on her round ... all three are well within the current cut line (+6), which will probably get worse at this massacre.
Yuri Fudo began Friday at #10 (below) ... the Google mush is unclear after this ... she got to the 11th tee and then disappeared. She picked up the first DQ of her pro career ... signed an incorrect scorecard ... it was thought she shot 81 on Thursday, but I guess it was really worse than that ... no additional details were released.

Well the three Amigos from the KLPGA will make the cut. Led by So Mi Lee plus one, Su Ji Kim plus four, Min Ji Park plus six right now. Looks like the cut will be plus eight where Yui Kawamoto sits through ten holes. Kotone Hori struck out again at plus twelve.

The cut was +9 and 61 players made it.

Yuri Yoshida is exempt for the USWO, but she wants to get there in style.
Sakura Koiwai barely missed being in the Rolex top-75 this week, but she might have that fixed by July 3.
Yui (MC) gagged again
Min Ji Park (+6)
SW Bae (+9)
Haruka Kawasaki (MC)
Royalty has its privileges ... Princess Mary Superal (+8)

Yui Kawamoto decided to join Kotone Hori at plus twelve with five bogeys on the back nine Step-Up Tour here I come, but I hope not.
Really surprised that Momoko Ueda hasn't won a Major.

Proof that The Unknown Korean is still unknown (but she's in the Pipeline folder).
