I watched a lot of this today until the English language broadcast was cut off when the final group was on the 11th hole. Observations:

- Shin Shil Bang was awe inspiring on the front nine. She was four under despite missing at least three short putts. On the par 5 7th she hit her drive so far that she had a medium iron as her second, got on board and made eagle. She might or might not win this week, but she's going to be a force.

- Ye Been Sohn had a tidy run of birdies at one point but made a 7 after the broadcast ended.

- The battle of the rookies fizzled early. Min Byeol made two early bogies and never recovered. Youmin did eventually climb to 5 under but has work to do tomorrow. Ayean looked rock steady and schooled the teens. 23 years old and ready for her pension LOL.

- Hyun Kyung didn't look very solid; A Lim was right in this at the turn but made three bogies coming in.

- Yewon had a normal unspectacular 70 and still has a chance. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see her steal this. She's that good.

Should be an exciting Sunday. Hwaiting!

It didn't look good early on when she had three bogeys and missed two makeable birdie putts. Great golfer she will be just fine.

If she wins she will earn a three-year membership to the KLPGA.

She had the outright lead but hit her tee shot into the woods on 18, falling back into a tie for the lead with Da Yeon Lee after a bogey.

Shin Sil Bang is a gamer. she came up short in the water her second shot on par five sixteen.
Made a good bogey and made birdie on the next two holes.
I really hope she wins, the other golfers has other Majors, but this is her chance for full status on the KLPGA.

The well-preserved multi-JLPGA winner Hyun Ju Shin has the first shift in the SBS Golf color chair tonight

... and they invited the KLPGA boss woman into the booth ... I don't think I've ever seen her speak before. They showed some OLD pics of her during the early days of this event (goes back to 1978) ... they also showed the yearly winning scores which were lousy until 1990 when they got a lot better.

Lakewood CC is about 15 north of downtown Seoul ... and not all that interesting to me. The online top-100 list doesn't have it among the ROK's top-50 courses. When they show a high shot of the place, you see the ubiquitous concrete cereal boxes in the background, although they are rarely seen from ground level. Was it a dry winter? This place does not look too green ... players were taking powdery divots from the fairway during the first two rounds ... the heavy rains on Saturday had to be beneficial. The greens look terrific and are rolling true ... but they are mostly big, flat and boring. Earlier in the week, Minji Park had 26+ meter putt and almost knocked it in like it was nothing ... yes, she's excellent with the flat stick, but I don't think there's a single putt on this course that challenges her.

I wish I knew what Se Ri was saying in her Yonex commercial, which is plugging the EZONE GT irons ... she breaks out in laughter, wonder what that was about? Maybe she looked at these clubs' specs, like a 37-degree PW.

I think Iron Cho is no longer a "daughter" of Chairman Moon at Volvik ... she's not playing a hot pink ball and she's not on Volvik's Korean website ... no Volvik wording on her attire ... her PXG glove pretty much confirms this. Per the online scoreboard, she's not with Titleist ... don't know what she's playing, for now. She is tied for 3rd and they are NOT showing enough of her.

I am going to have to lower my expectations for Hee Jeong Lim until she gets mentally stronger.
She had a feel-good round of three birdies no bogeys through fifteen holes.
What has become a problem starting last year for her is finishing rounds, she made bogey on the last three holes.

By the way the veteran is showing the youngster how it's done.

Finally, a Tournament where the Leader didn't let someone sneak up from behind to win the Tournament.
Actually, it was really competitive among the leaders until Da Yeon took over on fifteen.

Top four for the young golfer Sil Shin Bang and So Young Lee is really good.

Lakewood CC is well maintained. Looked good.

Such an "easy" course.

Some of the greens had wicked mounds on them and the pins were in tough places. Of course the 18 holes were so easy players had a really easy time reaching 10-under, 15-under, 20-under par. Except for some late birdies the players struggled to stay even. Most of the round few were 2-under.

The wind was playing tricks with minds.

Just got home. Walked the 18 with Lee Yewon. I made her smile a couple times.

Top-10 at a major is good 👍🏻.
