Don't forget that it's a Wednesday thru Saturday tournament ... Sunday's qualifiers were Gigi Stoll and Siyun Liu. Su Yeon Jang dropped out and was replaced by local product Mariel Galdiano. Jang was a WD last week at Lotte/Jeju with a wrist injury.
Sunday pro-am with Ayaka Furue ... the big pro-am is on Tuesday.

Caddie list is out ... a name I haven't seen in a LONG time, Zac Austin (Ji's loop at 2009 USWO), will be on the bag for Jaravee Boonchant. Maybe Zac works the resorts in Hawaii. MHL has someone named Steve Lim. Taneka is back with Amy Olson, at least for this week. Career scrub Laura Wearn will make her LPGA debut at age 31 with career scrub Brittany Benvenuto (age 34) toting her sack. Crusty Grrr is going with Kelli Kuehne?! What's KK been up to?
*******
Erika Hara ... reported in a Japanese magazine to be the main squeeze for baseballer Munetaka Murakami of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.

All I know about this event is the trophy looks like Lotte World Tower in Seoul.
I have no idea who all these nicknames refer to.

My field rating is an embassingly low 28%. This is one of the weakest fields ever! My breakdown is 32% from the LPGA Priority List and 24% from the Rolex Rankings.
The field will led by Rolex Rankings top ten players: Brooke Henderson Hyo Joo Kim Georgia Hall
There are way to many top players not teeing it up for me to list here, but players ranked in the top ten of the Rolex Rankings skipping the event are: Lydia Ko Nelly Korda Jin Young Ko Atthaya Thitikul Minjee Lee Lexi Thompson
The Monday qualifiers were: Gigi Staal -1 Siyun Liu even par
There has been some important moves in the Rolex Rankings since the completion of the Dio Implant LA. Open two weeks ago: Georgia Hall, with two consecutive runner-up finishes, jumps into the top ten 13-10. She replaces In Gee Chun, who drops out of the top ten. Dio Inplant winner Ruoning Yin makes a gigantic move 146-30. Carlota Ciganda jumps into the top fifty this week 52-42. She replaces Jeong Eun Lee6, who drops out of the top fifty. Patty Tavatanakit jumps up from 76-58
There were also some big moves outside the top 100 by LPGA players: Lucy Li 135-121 Maude-Aimee Leblanc 145-120 Perrine Delacour 183-143
Other stuff: Nelly Korda's top ten finish at the Dio Implant LA Open was her Fourth top ten finish of the year. No one else has more than three.
The first five tournaments of the year has produced five different winners from five different countries.

Human Hwang is 2nd on the KLPGA in driving distance thru three events ... but, she might want to take her foot OFF the gas when dealing with the Hawaii wind.

Shibuno Fever (-3) got it -6 thru 12 holes, then tripled #6. Nice opener by Erika Hara (E), who has a skimpy track record in the major leagues.

I think chungchungkar (+1) would have no difficulty doing the victory hula ... getting there is the problem.

Round 1 In Gee looks great in her Beanpole outfits. But I think she's in a full fledged slump at this point. It was painful watching her today. Everything seems a little off. That double on 2 was brutal. She was in front of the green and chipped way past, then three putted from ~25 feet. The in-form, focused In Gee walks away with par there 95% of the time. Nice day for Hyo Joo. I wonder how she'll feel if she has to do the hula again. She seemed pretty awkward last year. Ah well, that's a problem she'd love to have. You Min and Yu Jin Sung had nice starts. This also feels like the kind of event Hae Ran Ryu can tear apart. She loves playing on Jeju, where she has won several times, and I have the feeling the course conditions here are similar. Hwaiting!

The name Joe Strummer popped into my head for the first time since maybe 1982?! I thought this might be him, but after checking Wikipedia it seems he croaked from a heart attack at age 50 in 2002 ... I didn't remember that, but why should I since I thought 'The Clash' sucked.

Whatever putter Georgia Hall is using every golfer should go buy one. She hit eleven greens today and had twenty three putts. I know you can get hot and have a great putting day. But she hit the ball all over the golf course last tournament and averaged twenty five putts.

Another good round by Yu Bin Sung four birdies one bogey back nine to tie the lead. Only two other Korean golfers in top thirty, Yoo Min Hwang eleventh and Mi Hyang Lee twenty eight. Let's talk about just making the cut in different ways. Number one contender, Hyo Joo Kim finished bogey, double bogey, quad and clutch par. Hae Ran Ryu putter went ice cold, four bogeys no birdies with thirty-five putts. Karen Chun three bogeys no birdies front nine, two birdies no bogeys back nine. Yaeeun Hong three bogeys no birdies front nine, four birdies one bogey back nine. Soo Bin Joo clean score card three birdies no bogeys Kum Kang Park is a mystery, she drove two seventy with only four missed fairways. However, she only hit seven greens and had one bogey front nine. But she finished the back nine with five bogeys a double bogey and a par.

Two starts, two cuts made ... and haven't found one pic of MHL this week.
Which LPGAer will pick up the task of slow-walking Sung right out of the tournament?

Yu Jin seems quite poised. She looks directly into the camera when responding to a question.
