Starts Friday for a field of 108 ... top-50 plus ties make the cut. Accuweather says the high temps will range from mid-60s to mid-70s, but it will be wet almost every day this week. Two unknown (to me) ams are in the field, while the "name" ams are packing their bags for ANWA. The field includes BML ... I don't remember which tourney in Japan will be her last one. Hori One returns to join Hori Two. Reika Usui returns to the big tour for one week after getting a T-34 against the scrubs last week. Longballer washout Rei Matsuda gets her first start on the big tour after bombing out against the scrubs last week. Mamiko Higa will tee it up again ... she is two-for-two in cuts made this month ... her second career comeback is going well, so far.

The broadcast followed two feature groups playing holes 16 thru 18 ... surprised to see Yui in one of them, but she won this event in 2019.

Yui Kawamoto minus one has a chance to make her I think first cut.
Katone Hori slump continues as she joins her sister Natsuka at plus four.
I was surprised to see the JLPGA player wearing Tommy Hilfiger clothing. I have on occasion worn their polos do that count, kidding.

The cut was Even and 61 players made it. Highlight reel of the top-3 players:
POS PLAYER SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R TOTAL 1 Haruka Kawasaki -9 -4 67 68 135 2T Mamiko Higa -8 -5 69 67 136 2T Hinako Yamauchi -8 -3 67 69 136 4 Na-Ri Lee -7 -4 69 68 137 5T Shina Kanazawa -6 -6 72 66 138 5T Mayu Hamada -6 -2 68 70 138 5T Maiko Wakabayashi -6 -1 67 71 138 8T Momoko Ueda -5 -5 72 67 139 8T Ayaka Watanabe -5 -3 70 69 139 8T Hana Lee -5 -2 69 70 139 8T Miyuu Yamashita -5 -1 68 71 139 8T Saiki Fujita -5 0 67 72 139
This is the player who might steal someone's lunch money at Pebble Beach this year or Lancaster next year ... had chip-in birdies at #13 and #14 ... also, with a wide pigeon-toed stance and back foot in sand, flushed a fairway bunker shot to the flag, which was in a small protected knob on the 17th green.
After 31 trunk slams in 2022, what's the story on Mamiko Higa's miraculous comeback in 2023? She's working with a new coach and said her problems have largely been mental.

BML fanboy with green banner, but she washed out.
SW Bae (-3)
It's back to the scrub league for Rei Matsuda (MC)
Nanoko Hayashi (-3)
It's called a Japanese Badger

Yui Kawamoto has missed three straight cuts and Kotone Hori plus eight after plus nine last Tournament. Yui had a triple along with three bogeys and one birdie. Natsuki Hori made her second cut, I hope she finish better than last place her last made cut.
I remember seeing Mimiko Higa play the first International Crown. I think either she or Ai needed to win their Match to give Japan the win. I kind of followed her Career until she just faded away because I liked how she played.

The final group will tee off in about two minutes ... not a sunny Sunday so far ... the broadcasts are tape, so I'm going into blackout mode now.

First career win on Japan's big tour for Hinako Deux ... and it's been a long wait, she turns 27 next month.
Hit a superb recovery at #17 to preserve her lead
Not a lot of style points in her swing, but look what it got her.
SW Bae (-5)
Shina Kanazawa had a hole-out eagle at the par-4 17th.
Na Ri Lee
Hikaru Yoshimoto had big sis on her bag
Ting Ting (+1)
Mamiko Higa ... I don't know what happened to her last year, but her old driver swing is definitely BACK.

A better finish this time for Natsuka Hori tie for forty fourth, picked up four points.
I watched some of the second round highlights on YouTube but didn't recognize anyone. Why don't they pay some young Tech person to add English names to pick up a few yen.

Regarding English, there has been no consistency in the past because they used a multitude of broadcast channels with different graphics and probably still do. They still have unique cameras per channel ... Kawasaki's sand shot in the round 2 highlights was not the camera used when i saw it live. I noticed they used English in small letters on caddie bibs here, but that can change from week to week. I'll pass your concerns to Ms. Katahira of TV WOWOW when I see her at Shorite/Acer ... except her channel doesn't cover the JLPGA.
