Singapore is a jumping place for golf this month ... it will host this event starting on Thursday at Singapore Island CC. Team ROK will send six players, including its two biggies, Minsol Kim (16th on WAGR) and Jiyoo Lim (19). Japan is also sending six and four of them are WAGR 15th or better ... Baba-chan is NOT there, but will play the JLPGA next week.

Minsol Kim had a great front nine of minus five including an Eagle. But had an even par back nine that included a double bogey. She did have a two-putt birdie on eighteen. The Golf Channel showed about two hours of the first round.

Round 3 I watched this one. It was a brutal day for Hansol Kim. It's important to remember that she is not Jin Young Ko yet. She's still just a 16-year-old learning the ropes. On one hole, she hit a perfectly fine drive, then hit a terrible approach that she left well short of the green. Her pitch only went about halfway to the hole, still about 40 feet short. Her par save got to within three feet, then she flat out missed the bogey save and made double. There were at least three terrible shots in that six-shot span. Jiyoo Lim had her own issues, including back-to-back doubles. On the other hand, several Sisters who had been well back moved onto the leaderboard, including Yeji Park and Kyorim Seo. For some reason I can't get the leaderboard to load right now, but I still like the chances for Kim, Park and Seo to potentially take this one. Hwaiting!

Ye Ji Park had a tie for 7th at the KLPGA's PLK Pacific Links Championship in December in Vietnam (won by Jung Min Lee) Kyorim Seo was low amateur at the KG EDaily Women's Open in early September (t-17th)(the event won by Jeong Mee Hwang) Tall girl... So both of these girls have done good things already on the KLPGA.

Great start by Minsol Kim with birdies on two of the first three holes. She had a tough time after that especially making bogeys on two of the par fives Still she made birdie on eighteen to stay within three shots of long hitting Eila Galitsky. On that course with those tough greens, you need your A+ game. Should be a great final round watching these young golfers vie for the Title.

Why is it that every Thai player these days seems to be a bomber? There was that gal I'd never heard of who nearly won the Honda, and now Galitzky, who looks like she weighs 90 pounds but still was outhitting the much bigger Minsol Kim. I can understand big-boned Ariya being a long hitter, but they seem to be getting smaller and smaller and still are long off the tee.

I probably had Han Sol Ji on the mind because I just wrote a new profile for her for the site (Should be uploaded in a week or so with the updates!).
