Six of the twelve sponsor invites have been filled: three Thais (Meechai is the best one), plus Muni, EK Pedersen and Frida Kinhult. I hope Honda has enough stroke to get one or two top JLPGAers added later. JTibs is the last player in the field of 72 and The EMP is the 3rd alternate.

Japan's Iwai twins and two Thais (including Jaravee Boonchant) have been added ... two sponsor invite spots left to fill.

In other news, Chairwoman Mao is the first of five sponsor invites for HSBC WWC.

Ting Ting is the 11th invitee, woo-hoo. One more to go ... I predict Fassi gets the last spot as she is the 1st alternate and the Fassi-cam must be fed.

My field rating for this event is a very strong 74.5%, way, way, way up from 58% last year.
This will be one of the strongest fields of the year. The reason my field rating is not even higher than it is, is that this is not a full field event. My field ratings are based on participation of the top 100 from the Priority List and the top 100 from the Rolex Rankings, with the higher ranked players carrying more weight.
Fourteen of the top 15 players from the Rolex Rankings will be teeing it up (Lexi Thompson the only missing player from that list), and 28 of the top 29 players from the Priority List will be in attendance. This is a major championship field without the depth of the lesser ranked players.
There was some major movement in the Rolex Rankings this week as the L.E.T. tournament in Saudi Arabia had a strong field. Winner, Lydia Ko increased her hold on first place in the Rolex Rankings. Lilia Vu moved up from 39-33 Hae Ran Ryu (52-46) and Carlota Ciganda (53-48) jumped into the top 50, A Lim Kim and Inbee Park fell out. Runner up Aditi Ashok made the biggest move jumping from 143 to 89, while Maria Fassi (who entered the top 100 for the first time last week) moved up from 99 to 93. Ji Hyun Oh fell out of the top 100 and is no longer part of my field rating. There were some huge moves outside the top 100: Albane Valenzuela 113-102 Chara Noja 125-104 Emily Kristine Pedersen 131-105 Manon De Ray 152-116

piu means "more/plus" in Italian, and uguale means "the same/equal". So I guess it means "1 plus 1 equals three"? It does have a meaning, although it's still obscure; but that's the limit of my college Italian.

I'm not expecting much this week; this is a course where you have to go low to have a shot, not the type of place where the Sisters usually shine. A few notes. In Gee looked great in her Beanpole outfit, but had a slow start and has put herself behind the eight ball. Ditto Six. Jin Young's first round this year was decent: 14/18 GIR, 29 putts, 4 under, t-16th. More than anything else, I'd like to see her put up a good week so that she can go into her title defense in a good frame of mind. Kudos to Hyo Joo and Jenny for the only top tens of the days. Hwaiting!
