Talking about how popular Grace Park was during her time as world #2 reminded me of of the special they did on her back then and showed on Golf Channel.I know most of you have seen this already but for those who haven't, it's an example of how popular a Korean golfer can be with American media.

To add with Grace, I think the problem is you have to imagine what might have been. The year she won KNC, she won the then called CJ Nine Bridges...but then her health never let her be the same consistently...JUST as things like this Rolex special was made about her. As she says in the first video above, people were starting to recognize her off the golf course. But to maintain that you have to keep winning. For long periods of time she couldn't even show up due to health...and a little burnout, too.
Back then, Nike didn't hand out a lot of sponsorships to LPGA golfers. Grace was one of the few. They saw the marketing potential. Unfortunately, her back would betray her.

As I've said many times, I was lucky enough to watch her at Barton Hills when she destroyed Jenny Chuasiriporn 7 & 6 and it wasn't as close as the score indicated. I thought she'd be the best ever. Health problems did her in.

Health problems did her in. Looking back, there are 3 Seoul Sisters in particular that to me seemed destined to be bigger LPGA stars than they were, Grace Park, Angela Park and Seon Hwa Lee. They all had various levels of LPGA success but all maybe could have, or should have, been even greater than they were.

If you look really closely at the end of the final film clip, you'll see my name flash in the credits.

Grace was popular cause she knew she was not only a golfer, but an entertainer too....competing, looks and a fun personality helped too.....IMO...if The Rocket competed and won more and improved her English...she would be the Korean 'It' gal...but her play has been so mediocre....I'm not expecting much....seems like she has one good event per year to keep her up on the money list.
The Mini Rocket will be back on the KLPGA in 2016...she caught lightening in a bottle at Q-school....so I better fanboy her at the CWO cause I'll never see her again.
Grace's dad must make a bundle....10,000 cover a week at an expensive restaurant is huge.....seems like the restaurant is a bit of a tourist trap too.
Korean BBQ is expensive, considering you cook your own food.
