Kicks off Thursday for a field of 120 players ... and 27 of them are amateurs ... and a couple of big amateurs are NOT here, Rin Yoshida (#4 on WAGR) and Tsubasa Kajitani (#11). Excluding JLPGAers, the only foreigner here is Kelsey Bennett(a) of Australia ... #79 on WAGR ... she must have the full backing of Oz Golf ... played four big amateur events in the U.S. this summer, along with the world team amateur in France. The cut is top-60 plus ties.
As usual, a couple of NHK channels will handle the TV ... this stream MIGHT work (Japan time) -

FRI 3:10 PM - 5:00 PM
SAT 1:50 PM - 4:00 PM
SUN 1:05 PM - 4:00 PM

The link above is the LIVE leaderboard ... only 8 of 60 players from the morning wave are under par so far.
Along with Henrik Stenson, this is the other Callaway dinosaur ... still gaming Callaway Apex CF 16 ("rubbish") irons ... probably still bagging Cally X-Hot FWs, too.

I almost slept through my alarm, but the NHK-G link I posted had the golf. Eight players (below) broke par in Round One ... record 6,839 yards for the minor leaguers, but the JGA doesn't care. No eagles on the par-5s or anywhere else ... the flag was three yards from the left edge on the par-5 18th (572 yards) ... if you're third shot was a little too far right, it rolled down a hill.
POS NAME SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R 1 Haruka Morita -5 -5 67 2 Sakura Koiwai -4 -4 68 3 Teresa Lu -3 -3 69 4T Yuri Yoshida -2 -2 70 4T Min-Young Lee -2 -2 70 4T Ayako Kimura -2 -2 70 4T Akie Iwai -2 -2 70 8 Miyuu Yamashita -1 -1 71
LUV Saku-chan ... no career majors, but that has to change NOW.
Ting Ting (+7) ... also, I had no idea that Mini Ting Ting was here and NOT as a caddie ... can't find a pic of her ... she also shot 79 ... they can share a ride home Friday night.
Great round by Haruka Morita ... she has come a long way since looking completely lost playing with Cyborg at the 2017 USWO.
Yuri Yoshida
USWA winners, 2022 and 1985

Haruka Kawasaki (E)
Min Young Lee
Momoko Osato (+6)
Ai Suzuki (+2) and Momoko Ueda (E) ... clever architecture for a place called Murasaki CC ... or maybe AXA Insurance owns the place.

Nice comeback for Yui Kawamoto, plus two front nine minus one back nine.
Kotone Hori went the other way even front nine four bogeys back nine. However tied at sixty two she just need at least a minus two or three second round.

Watched some of the Round Two broadcast before dozing off ... Koiwai (+1) was on the miss a green/get punished treadmill ... the cut was +7. Most memorable was Momoko Ueda, one of the best full-wedge players on either side of the Pacific. The par-5 12th is a theoretical pushover at 485 yards ... so what if the green is slanted from right-to-left, she can just stiff a wedge pin-high to the right of the stick for a kick-in birdie, right? Well, that's what she almost did ... except the ball kicked left, ran off the green, down the bank and into the water. She took it quite well ... I would have flipped out ... rogue video has it starting at 9:59 -
POS PLAYER SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL 1 Ayako Kimura -2 0 70 72 142 2T Haruka Morita -1 +4 67 76 143 2T Nana Suganuma -1 -1 72 71 143 4T Shuri Sakuma 0 0 72 72 144 4T Min-Young Lee 0 +2 70 74 144 4T Haruka Kawasaki 0 0 72 72 144 4T Momoko Ueda 0 0 72 72 144 4T Miyu Sato 0 -1 73 71 144
The Little Engine That Could (89th in JLPGA driving distance) somehow dodged the wreckage all the way to first place.
Hori Two (+4) will play two more days.

Wear spot alert - Minami Katsu (+3)
Ayaka Watanabe (+7) would like to skip this hole ... the field has 11 birdies in 238 tries, so far.
Baba-chan (+2) tops the six amateurs who made the cut.
What darkness? Here, we got a flashlight for you ... suck it up!

Yui Kawamoto look for a good weekend to get closer to in side the fifty Ranking.
I guess Kotone Hori didn't need to go under par on day two to make the cut. I didn't notice how hard the course was playing, so even par was a really good round.

The NHK-G broadcast started with four players at -1 and four players at +1 ... that didn't last long.

Only 11 greens hit on Saturday, but The Shinster scrambled like crazy
My apologies to Ting Ting (+9) ... she did make the cut after shooting 71 on Friday.

Yui (+9)

Seonwoo Bae (+5)
Wake up, did you forget her putter on the practice green?! The black & yellow logo on the bib is a famous delivery service in Japan ... I forget the name ... I think a lot of players use it to send their gear from tournament to tournament.

Kotone Hori good score of plus one to move up up the Leader Board
I am always surprised at what Yui Kawamoto do on the golf course. She had one birdie no bogeys on the front nine, but three double bogeys and two bogeys on back nine. It's almost like a switch turned on in her head and she forgot hoe to play golf.

Great Tournament by Kotone Hori with a seventh place tie. After the plus four tie first round she kept it there and finished with three really good rounds.
Yui Kawamoto missed a chance to pick up some needed points. She really needs to take advantage of made cuts on Major Tournaments. Main thing is to stay away from those double bogeys.
