The white line yardage sheet hints that the par-4 10th (364 yards) will be dumbed down this week at least once by saying there is a 266-yard tee there ... last year, it played 351 to 368 each day.

Just set up the courses that is worthy of a Professional Golfers.
We agree, but the LPGA (no doubt, goaded by GolfChannel) is hooked on cheap or contrived birdies and eagles for its highlight reels. If that Indian tribe hadn't bailed on the LPGA, they'd still be using that goat track shooting gallery in Wisconsin. Fortunately, the women's top tour has been unpredictable on who wins and who doesn't lately, regardless of how a golf course is set up or which ones they use.

It was announced that Dumbo is taking time off as a precaution (has neck and shoulder pain) ... will play again at BMW Korea.

Have they really lengthened the courses? Seems like the LPGA is always shortening holes (at least for some rounds) to allow for more scoring. Hyo Joo never seems focused, haha - but occasionally her pure talent just breaks through. They made the par fives shorter so the longer hitters could hit an iron to some of them. Also on occasion drivable par fours and some longer par threes. What they really do is dumb down the courses, especially off the tee. When I hear the term 'generous fairways', that's code for 'long hitters can go to town with their drivers because they won't get in trouble off the tee'. The rough also tends not to be too bad. The net result is that the players who win are the ones who make lots of birdies (often long hitters). Koreans tend to do better on courses where par is valuable; with a few exceptions, they are not usually among the players who make tons of birdies, they just don't make as many mistakes. Not a coincidence that In Gee's win came on one of the tougher tracks they played this year. Dumbing down the courses has another impact: it makes it possible for less talented players on a putting roll to get wins and contend. The numbers favor Americans, so if you bring more of them into contention, they are more likely to win.

I still stand by observation that they changed the courses for longer hitters. Just because they can't putt and have bad wedge games is why. Also the U.S has more players than other countries so shorter par fives give them a better chance to win. Edit: U.S has twelve players in the top thirty driving distance, Korea has one.
The lowest is Jennifer Kupcho at 267 yard average.
Exactly my point, the eleven players that are abover Kupcho for the U.S. havent won. The very longest hitters in the game tend to have that skill as their only notable characteristic. It's not surprising they don't win, but they certainly do better than they otherwise would on such courses. A Lim is better than a lot of them, but the jury is still out on whether she is a one-point-five trick pony. Certainly, her overall game does not compare with the big-name Sisters like In Gee and Jin Young (when she's healthy). What's notable is that the next batch of players, not quite as long but still longer than average, can also take advantage of easier conditions. And they ARE getting wins. Kupcho for instance. Would she be as strong if they toughened up the courses? In other words, the more players you give a legit chance to win, the more it benefits the Americans. Because there are many more Americans than Koreans, Thais, etc.

I'm not watching the stream ... someone on GolfWrx mentioned a rules stink involving Korda Two ... how she addressed or hit a putt, it's not clear ... currently with a 68, don't know if that includes a penalty.
********
I assume you heard about the new tournament next year ... let's see, that is Liberty National + UMCC + Baltusrol + Seaview = 2023 LPGA .... DON'T HATE ME!
*******
Bounce back! MHL made her first bogey, but made a birdie right after that .... now at -2 with four holes left.
********
Su Oh ... Oh, Su WTH ... +3 thru 12, sliding down the crapper again ... her top-100 CME position will NOT hold if this continues the next two weeks.

I keep thinking that So Yeon Ryu would turn it around. But she had a triple three bogeys and three birdies doing this birdie fest. The triple means that she is still spraying the ball. Not giving up, I am still hopeful, because she wont give up

In a three rounder, you need a good score every day to have a chance. I see four Sisters in the top ten after round 1, and two (Sei Young and Five) tied for the lead. Sei Young is one of the few Sisters who can make a ton of birdies, so that's a good sign, although she has been hideously inconsistent this year. If she can just stay in the hunt through Saturday, perhaps she can finally end this career-longest winless streak. A bunch more are still in this, three or fewer back, including A Lim and Six. It would be fantastic to see either one of these ladies get a trophy before year's end, especially Six, who has not won anywhere since 2019. She's way too good to go through the 20s without trophies. Sisters hwaiting! Perhaps we can see a few of 'em on the broadcast tomorrow?

I'm not watching the stream ... someone on GolfWrx mentioned a rules stink involving Korda Two ... how she addressed or hit a putt, it's not clear ... currently with a 68, don't know if that includes a penalty. I caught the last 20 minutes of the stream and GC must have shown the replay a dozen times. Pretzel thought for sure it was a penalty and the leaderboard showed it as such. Then the camera switched to the scoring tent, where the official broke the news to Nelly. She wasn't taking it. You couldn't really hear what she was saying but she was clearly going nuclear on not accepting the penalty. The show went off the air with the penalty still showing on the leaderboard. I don't know if any of that was later edited for the delayed broadcast. Later the online leaderboard showed no penalty, so obviously the LPGA crumbled and gave Nelly what she wanted. If this had happened to a Korean player, I'm sure there would have been no arguing and the player would have accepted the punishment. But the golden-haired savior of the LPGA gets what she wants. It did look inadvertant, I'm sure Nelly wasn't trying to cheat, but she did do it. If it's a rule, "intent" should play no part in the ruling, but what do I know?

Korda is lucky she wasn't on the KLPGA, or she'd be staring at a three-year suspension.
This is the penalty, I guess? You are not allowed to ground the club before hitting a stroke?
To be honest, that ain't much of a thing. But rules is rules I guess. (it was clearly inadvertent, but that's no excuse, right?).

MHL tied with a large bunch at T-65 so far ... I think she'll play tomorrow.

Su Oh will not play tomorrow.

Ugh, I spoke way too soon ... MHL's T-65 (now T-70) won't hold ... too many players still out there and too many cheap birdies available on this goat track.
********
Looks like Unlucky Five will solve her CME points problem this week ... the LPGA website says she has 8 career top-10s ... I don't remember any of them.

I didn't watch the Broadcast maybe the Recording later, so I can skip through it. Did they make the course even easier today.
Yaeeun Hong had nine bogeys one birdie yesterday. She had four birdies no bogeys today.
Things aren't getting any better for So Yeon Ryu, missed the cut and second alternate at BMW. She has a slight chance to get in though. I was planning to try and go there this year but it didn't work out.
I guess not getting the penalty didn't help Nelly Korda because she missed the cut anyway. Also the LPGA don't have to make a Nelly Rule.
Nothing to say about the leading golfers because with the course setup anybody could win

The LPGA bio said Hot 5's hobby is playing with LEGOs. Maybe her hobby should be making some putts and winning an LPGA tournament. Jesus Christ, take a couple of deep breaths and show you belong.

Round 2 Man, Hye-Jin Choi just can't win. She shoots a fantastic 65 today, put herself in contention, so naturally Thitikul follows that with a 61 to take a four-shot lead. C'mon, Hye-Jin, it's time to get out there and show 'em what you can do! Way overdue for a win. HWAITING! Five and Chella also did fine today and are at 10 under. Sei Young took an early lead and then made a complete hash out of one hole. I think she chipped three times before she got to the green en route to a triple. That kind of sloppiness is what has cost her this year. A Lim crept to 9 under with a 300+ year driving average. She could still win this, but she's gonna have to be brilliant. Go Sisters!!!
