The Euro Tour played the Ballantine's Championship here during 2011-13 ... I remember watching a little of it one year on GolfChannel ... they might have been playing through rain ... this event was played at the end of April, which would not have been comfy-cozy.
A crude quickie video from the 2011 Ballantine's Championship pro-am ... I don't see any sunshine:

Han Sol Ji - holed out for birdie on the final hole
It looked like Hee Jeong Lim would have a great round going through hole six. She hit all Fairways and greens and was two under. But her back swing got caught inside on par three seven and she hit into hazard and made triple. Hit a strange second shot on eight and made bogey, came back with a birdie on nine. I didn't see her back nine, she held it together and made only one bogey. Still a pretty good round considering the one big number.
The 16th and 17th greens looked like duplicates ... and the results were duplicated; a lot of bad shots hit into them ... and the last few players did not cover themselves in glory at the par-5 18th. So Young Lee missed 7 of 14 fairways and missed 6 of 18 greens ... in other words, right on track to winning her first major. One of the KB Star amateurs ran afoul of the '88' rule and was kicked to the curb. I'm playing back part of the English broadcast and the guy said Minor League Minjee's group completed their round in 6 hrs. and 27 minutes. They reshuffled the threesomes for Round Two by score ... too bad if the course is easier or harder in the AM, they have to please the TV people.
In Gee had about the worst score she could have had given the way she was playing. She hit most of the greens and usually had short birdie tries, none of which she made while I was watching. She did have one tricky two-tiered 40-foot putt that she lagged to within six inches. On 18, she was barely short of the green and ended up with a brutal break: a chip from deep rough where she had to stand with one foot in the sand and the other on her knee outside the trap. That was her only back nine bogey, and she still almost made the twenty-foot par save.
Ji Hyun Oh was much the same way: she was putting great, but the two brutal par 5s cost her two bogies and she's now at +2.
So Young Lee hit a bad tee shot on the par 3, almost OOB. She was in deep rough and duffed two straight chips to reach the fringe, then two putted for double. Other than that she was really solid; at least, she was scrambling fine.
Tour bag lady So Young Lee is picking up her trash like no one else ... drives it into the bunker at #14 and makes par ... first two shots in the rough at par-5 15th and makes birdie ... leaves herself a 58-foot two-putt par and makes it at #16 ... drove it into the bunker at #17 and has 176 yards to the hole ... reached the green, but has left herself a 76-foot two-putt.
I must compliment the committee for a setting up a bloodbath ... actually, if you exclude the winners' scores from 2020 and 2021, its been a massacre three straight years ... KUDOS! Wow, bag lady just made 8-footer like it was nothing to save par at #17. Back to the course ... every ball in the rough is punishing everyone (except the bag lady). The left-to-right ridges on some of the greens are devastating if your ball hits the wrong side. When was the last time Dumbo opened with two rounds over par? Answer: the 2022 USWO.
Back to So Young Lee ... I don't hear any old men yelling for her ... I don't hear anyone yelling for her .... I hardly hear anyone at all, outside of the pavilions over the 18th green ... is this place in the middle of nowhere? Lee just overspun her wedge at the par-5 18th ... scooted down the ridge, leaving her 77 feet for a two-putt ... old hat.

Su Jin Lee -- I think I saw this movie on Showtime in the 80s?
Hee Jeong Lim played pretty solid golf until she made bogey on three of the last four holes. Two of them were par fives, I missed eighteen but she hits aggressive third shots on two of them over the green. Her bad finishes are becoming somewhat of a trend, which she needs to focus on.
Ji Hyun Oh also had a even par front nine, but four bogeys back nine.
In Gee Chun had a rough front nine three bogeys a double and one birdie. She bounced back with even par back nine with one birdie and one bogey.
On another note I like watching Ga Eun Song putt. It looks like she is sneaking up on the ball

Great round by Hee Jeong Lim clean Score Card three birdies front nine, rest was pars. They didn't show her hit one shot on the back nine except the putt on eighteen. Even thou she was in the top ten all through the back nine. I was checking each of her holes and she missed only one fairway and no greens back nine. That's it for me So young Lee is so slow they may have to come back tomorrow to finish. Kidding
I got up 30 minutes ago ... did they dumb down the golf course? I see all these red numbers today on the scoreboard ... extremely disappointing. Did they move up the par-5 18th? So Mi Lee had a chip-in eagle from the back of the green. The good news is that Minjee just rinsed her ball at the par-5 15th, so she can't run away and hide from the others.
Thinking about the players who didn't show ... would they have made a difference? Hong Kong has no wins this year, but maybe she was due this week. Winbee would have made the cut easily, but these long courses are a bit much for her these days. The Hulk has been playing lousy for months, so she would not have mattered ... and then there's Ina Yoon ... would she have been gunning for all the par-fives even with the tees moved back on Thursday and Friday?
