Now, the ANWA champion will be able to play both in the same year. Starting next year, the winner at Augusta National will receive an exemption into the Chevron, which has been moved about a month later on the LPGA schedule, to April 20-23, as it makes its debut at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, after decades in Palm Springs, California. With the addition of the Chevron invite, the ANWA winner will be awarded three major exemptions, the U.S. Women’s Open and AIG Women’s Open being the others. This year’s champ, Anna Davis, also played the Evian. There is still a potential conflict, though. Should next year's ANWA champ play for a Big 12 or Big Ten school, the Chevron dates overlap with both conferences' championships. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/winner-of-augusta-national-womens-amateur-to-now-receive-chevron-invite/ar-AA11hIzS

Fred Ridley's takeover of women's golf in the month of April is complete and I approve ... the next ANWA will be loaded with the likes of Davis, The Zhangster, Baba the Giant, Heck, Kuehn, Rin Yoshida, The Great McGinty and Shinsil Bang ... can't wait.

Uh, why is Augusta National making this announcement? Shouldn't the LPGA be saying who is and who isn't given an exemption into their own tournament? Alice didn't do much in the events she played this year, and in general I don't think any amateur should be given that many Major exemptions, let alone the ANWA winner.

I was going to make the comment, that the LPGA should make the decision on who to invite to Majors. But my comment would come over as sour grapes, because it's well known that I hate that over hyped Tournament. If that is true not only did they kill the ANA, now they get to decide who play in the Majors.

The LPGA were involved and the LPGA gave a spot at Chevron to the ANWA winner. Augusta just announced that fact. In Women's golf, amateurs do pretty well all things considered and the US are doing everything they can to find some star to promote the LPGA. WAGR, which ranks amateurs, uses a strength of field metric to determine points. Due to many factors, ANWA is the only event where the top international amateurs meet making it the number one amateur woman's strength of field event even over the US Women's Amateur and US College championship. Green speeds etc make ANWA much more difficult verses US Collegiate Championship and US Women's Amateur. As I have said before, it's a rare opportunity to play Augusta National with strings attached, play some tournament golf against the best amateurs. Remember the Korean girls struggled at ANWA last year. Tough that Champions Retreat CC. Rose Zhang is on record stating this is her favorite event of the year and with NIL money, she has no reason to rush to QSeries.

Anna Davis is a golf junkie from a family of golf junkies ... and she is playing AGAIN next week in Cincinnati. She is getting better "representation" than 99% of the LPGAers. I cannot envision her wanting to play college golf and probably wishes she could drop out of high school NOW. As for her ability, I haven't seen enough to forecast the future ... still pretty young at 16 ... managed to make the cut at Palos Verdes, Cognizant, Evian and CP.

Still I don't understand why the LPGA would give the winner of that Tournament an invite. They started the Tournament that they knew would have an affect on the LPGA Major. But they knew that the LPGA would bow down to them, which is a shame.
They were forced to even let Ladies join the old boys club. So they pretended to care about ladies golf for a PR move. What else have they done to help promote their golf.
