Looking forward to seeing TonyJ's field index, which hit a record-low 18% last year. Even MHL will fly over for this one and her recent exploits on the scrub tour will cover the airfare. Also arriving is The Ice Cream Princess. It's one of those men and women playing the same courses for the same money events, so we'll have Kinhult bookends, Frida & Marcus. I reviewed last year's thread, which reminded me that the TV broadcast stunk, as did the Meaw/Talley playoff ... expect nothing better and you won't be disappointed.

Well they call it the ISPS World Invitational. Well apparantly just about everyone threw away their invitations.
My field rating rating for this tournament is a disturbingly low 13% (down from last year's record breaking 18%). No that is not a typo, it really is 13%. The lowest it has been in the 12 years or so that I have been doing this. My breakdown is 17.5% from the LPGA Priority List and 8.5% from the Rolex Rankings. Just how bad is it? Not a single player in the Rolex Rankings top 15 is teeing it up. You think that's bad? Only four players in the top 50 are playing. The field is led by Leona Maguire #17, Georgia Hall #29, A Lim Kim #42, and Ryann O'Toole #48. Nothing more to say about this one so let's get on with other stuff:
It was a bad week for players that had cut streaks. Jin Young Ko (28), Anna Nordqvist (16), and Chella Choi (15), all had cut streaks go down the drain. Lydia Ko (29) now has the longest cut streak on tour.
With Ashleigh Buhai, a player from South Africa winning this week, we now have played 20 tournaments and have had winners from 10 different countries. USA 5 wins Republic of Korea 4 Japan 2 Australia 2 Canada 2 New Zealand 1 Ireland 1 Denmark 1 Thailand 1 South Africa 1
Lydia Ko and Atthaya Thitikul both had top ten finishes this week. They both now have nine top ten finishes which leads the LPGA.
Atthaya Thitikul has increased her Rookie of the Year lead over Hye-Jin Choi 1,070 to 935. This is the closest race in many years.
For the first time ever (I think), we had five major winners from 5 different countries this year.
The AIG Women's Open this past week produced the year's 5th playoff, and sixth first time winner.
Rolex Rankings: Leona Maguire made the most important move, jumping into the top twenty and moving 22 to 17. Asheigh Buhai made the biggest move 84 to 27. Other moves worth mentioning this week include Hinako Shibuno 41-30, Linn Grant 70 to 60, Non LPGA player Han Sol Ji 81-66, and Stephanie Kyriacou 108- 83.

There were five winners from 5 different countries in 2018, Sweden (Pernilla), Thailand (Ariya), South Korea (Sung Hyun), England (Georgia), and United States (Angela). 'Same in 2021, Thailand (Patty), Phillapines (Yuka), United States (Nelly), Australia (Minjee), and Sweden (Anna).

Broadcast just started ... Daniela Darquea, who was not good enough to get into Shoprite/Acer, is two shots off the lead after 17 holes ... looper Ivan Galdame picked the right week to get this player (so far) ... his old player, MJ Uribe, hasn't started yet. Grant, Hall and Maguire are starting now ... obviously, they'll be focused on to give this event a patina of Major League-ism. MHL is +2 thru 12 holes, has someone named Adrian Kelly on her bag.

Crazy Bob just had an ad saying his golf shirts have snaps, NOT buttons ... says it costs more, but they're better.

According to the broadcasters, the Massereene course is playing tougher for the women compared to those players on the Galgorme Castle course. MHL shot 72 (Even) on Massereene, so I'm encouraged about her round for tomorrow.

I flipped around the coverage but didn't catch a glimpse of any of the Sisters. None of them did all that well. A Lim was only even par, Mi Hyang 1 under, Yaeeun Hong +4. Will check it out tomorrow, but it's looking like this will be a pass for me.

Gee wiz, MHL has good chance to be Low Sister this week.
*******
Papp had nine birdies on the pushover course, but finished only -4.
*******
Remember what The Expert said at Cognizant: Keep an eye on Doherty ... a relaxed, no-thinking swing on the range ... so what if this field stinks ... a win is a win and she can do it.

Do they have a tough cut line here? The LPGA scoreboard has it ABOVE the players who are T-64.
Su Oh headed for her 5th straight trunk slam.

Apparently, they have TWO cuts this week, the second on Saturday night.
I skipped around, but again they didn't show the only Major winner in the field (Laura Davies WD, by the way; I think she is the only other Major champ here), at least in the ~two hours or so I skipped through. A Lim did manage a 70 today, moving to 2 under. Right now, that's t-26th, so she'll easily make the cut, but it doesn't look like she's going to be getting any screen time unless she steps it up big time tomorrow. Mi Hyang is also at 2 under and still on the course. Yaeeun is going to have the weekend off.

It's a 100-meter dash tomorrow for Low Sister ... MHL vs. Chang vs. A Lim Kim ... all at -5.
**********
Doherty on Friday ... with a surname like hers, she should get 100% support over Hall from the locals tomorrow.

As the man said, "Welcome to the LPGA, Maya Stark". She went ape on the course shooting 10 under.
Shame about Doherty busting on the last two holes.

Ah, right, forgot about Hall. I didn't even realize Stanford was in the field. They still should have featured A Lim at least once.

The results of 'The Sprint' -
J. Chang -9 A Lim Kim -7 MHL -6
Is there a priority reshuffle due this week? If yes, MHL's T-22 moved her up to #141 on CME, so getting into the remaining U.S. events shouldn't be a big problem ... and she's already in the Cannuck Open.
