Congratulation to Ashleigh Buhai she hung in there after the triple.
In Gee Chun didn't do too good on the back nine, because she had a lot of bad luck on her birdie putts. I kind of figured the pot bunker would decide it sooner or later. Anyway a second place finish is not what she was looking for but was really good.
By the way her one under par tied the only other Korean golfer A Lim Kim, also one under. All the other Korean golfers forgot how to play I guess, which has been their M.O this year.
Kudos, to Kotone Hori who got on the broadcast made an Eagle and finished tied for fifteen. Back to back birdies on sixteen and seventeen was pretty nice as well.
Hanako Shibuno sure is an aggressive short putter, caused her two or three strokes with lip-outs.
Edit: I would post about So Yeon however I would just be singing the same old song. Still have a feeling that she will start playing better.

They finally posted the caddie list ... with DK on the mend, Man Bun was loaned out to Lilia Vu. Uribe bypassed Ivan Galdame for Mark Wallington, surprising. Ingrid Lindblad (a) employed Jacke Schram and The Great McGinty (a) used her new Ohio State coach and ex-LPGAer Lisa Strom ... both players bombed out ... maybe they should have played the USWA instead.
**********
Pressel's praise of Team Japan mid-way through Round One was a kiss-of-death for many of them. However, I found a 2022 JLPGA stat that might be relevant for two of the survivors:
Hori Two ... 3rd in GIR
Yamashita ... 4th in GIR
*****
The #1 and #2 players for JLPGA GIR were not here (Inami and Koiwai). BTW, Chairwoman Mao is omitted from most of the stat lists because she has played only 34 rounds ... all those overseas trips. Her GIR would be 8th if it counted.

Final round
I watched the event throughout the day. I got through the USA Network coverage in the morning. Easily the most enjoyable part of the day, as not only did In Gee play great, but we actually got to see other Sisters, which pretty much ended after that.
Right around the time In Gee made the two bogies (hole 11?), I became convinced that it wasn't to be. Even though she was just two back. Every putt seemed to be on line and stopped on the lip. It started to feel like she was going to just miss out.
In the late afternoon, when I had only watched 12 holes, I noticed a clip for the 4th round highlights on YouTube with Buhai's photo (not a trophy shot) and pretty much knew In Gee lost. Damn.
Tonight I watched the rest, expecting to be disappointed. That's when I noticed that the tivo had an hour and a half extra on it. So I knew there'd be a playoff. Great, so In Gee would lose in three or four extra holes.
But then they started to talk about darkness, and my hope rose again: what if the event had been called due to darkness? Then the clip with the photo of Buhai would be meaningless, and In Gee would still have a chance! All she had to do was tie four holes (by my guess) and we'd have an extra day. I started to hope.
So naturally she hit it into the bunker on the 4th playoff hole and my heart sank. Sure enough, she lost shortly thereafter.
Well, I'll focus on the positives. In Gee played some stellar golf (and had a few yucky moments, too). She came back from five back and had a chance to win. If either of those par 5 birdies had fallen, she would be a 4x Major champ now. Really close. But she should be quite satisfied with her week and year.
In Gee has never won a playoff on the LPGA tour. She still hasn't. Her breezy style doesn't seem to lend itself to one-on-one sudden death confrontations, I guess.
I'm glad In Gee gave me a reason to care, because every other Sister stunk it up. The next best Korean, A Lim Kim, didn't even notch a top ten. Inbee, Sung Hyun, Hye Jin and So Yeon were terrible. Six was OK, as was Hyo Joo, and of course A Lim, but no great rounds.
I give up, Thitikul will win ROY. This was Hye Jin's last chance to make some noise and she shot a 76. I'm 100% sure she ain't winning it now. She still had a very good year, though. She's just not at her best anymore.
All in all, it was a great Major year for In Gee. This should get her into the top ten in the world rankings for the first time in forever. Well deserved!!

Telegram to Pressel: The 1980's called. They want their shoulder pads back. First of all shoulder pads have been back as a trend for years. Why is there such a desire to mock a woman's outfit choices under the guise of being a women's golf fan? For the record, I also thought Gannon's double-breasted suit was over the top. Another fashion trend that peaked in the '80's. At least that's when I wore them. But I defer to your superior fashion expertise.

I get that she's not a cutthroat killer but wish she at least made some effort. Killed me yesterday to watch her after her round just sitting around and socializing and waiting to see what Buhai did on her last hole, instead of doing something--anything--to prepare for the playoff. Like she took off her game face before the tournament was over.

I'll give In Gee credit; she did make some great shots during the playoff. That bunker shot was all-world. She also hit three great drives, but alas one bad one and that cost her the title. Her approach on the third hole was also great.
It's a bad deal when the playoff hole is so hard that the only way someone is winning is if the other player makes a mistake. It becomes a war of attrition. I much prefer a hole where someone can birdie.

Here's a commentator for Sky Sports. Hmmmm.... bias much? (I'm not sure if he was actually calling the event or just works there doing other sports, but yeah, big-time bias. And don't call me Shirley). link

A few other thoughts. I notice that a few Twits are complaining that Buhai and her husband were not generous in the immediate post-win; In Gee waited to congratulate her while her husband charged past her and celebrated. I'll give Buhai a pass on that one, but hope she'll be more gracious if there is a next time. In Gee has moved into 2nd on the money list and over $2.5 million. If I'm not mistaken, she is just the fourth Korean to break $2 million in a year; the others being Inbee, Jin Young and Sung Hyun Park. I may have forgotten someone. There are actually tweets complaining that In Gee needs to look more like she's enjoying herself out there (!!!). I think they are being unironic. Heartbreakers all day: linklink

Also, maybe it's just me, but I never see what's so beautiful about links courses. They always look like scruffy cow pastures that someone mowed part of to play golf on. I was laughing cause the commentators went on and on about how beautiful Muirfield was, but I saw no appreciable aesthetic difference from the other links courses they've played on. Links just ain't my bag, I guess.

One time a another golfer asked me if I would like to play St Andrews. I asked why it's just another over hipped golf course. I would rather spend the money at Pebble Beach a few times.

I agree that In Gee could have spent her time maybe putting. She did hit a lot of long clubs, so she may have wanted to rest. I thought that Buhai was going to miss the putt anyway. In Gee Chun is who she has always been as far as her personality is concerned. I hope she never change that and her beautiful golf swing.
Look what happened to Mi Hyang Lee after she went to that fraud coach. She was a really good golfer, who sometimes didn't putt that good. Her previous game I thought would have no problem competing on the LPGA .

In Gee was one group ahead of the final group. She didn't have a lot of time. Had she finished an hour ahead, then she would have probably hit the range to stay loose. 'Not much one can do in 12 minutes. Catch your breath, grab a light snack and hydrate.
