My field rating for this tournament is a very solid 80% (way, way up from 68.5% last year). My breakdown is 87% from the LPGA Priority List and 73% from the Rolex Rankings. Seventeen of the top twenty players from this week's Rolex Rankings will be teeing it up. Former winners of an LPGA event who are not teeing it up this week: Lexi Thompson Danielle Kang (Health) Austin Ernst (injury) Stacy Lewis Cydney Clanton Brittany Lincicome (Maturnity) Na Yeon Choi Brittany Lang Mirim Lee Pernilla Lindberg Mi Jung Hur Hee Young Park Michelle Wie-West
Other Notes: Jennifer Kupcho's win at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, makes her the first three time winner on the LPGA Tour this year. The win by Kupcho/Salas was the 5th tournament win by the United States this year. The Republic of Korea is second with four (yes, this only counts as one win even though we had two winners). Lexi Thompson missed the cut at the Dow ending her cut streak at 29. Hye-Jin Choi's top ten finish was her 8th of the year, which is tops on the LPGA Tour. She is still 53 points behind Atthaya Thitikul for Rookie of the Year honors.
Since the Dow tournament didn't count in the Rolex Rankings I will skip that report this week. I will make a note though of the huge impact the tournament did have on some LPGA players. As we know, you have to finish in the top 100 in the Race to the CME Globe to retain your full playing privileges for next year. Maria Fassi was the big winner here with her third place finish, moving from 140 to 84, pretty much guaranteeing her status for next year. Others who took full advantage: Sofia Popov 107-92 Sarah Kemp 108-93 Dewi Weber 120-94 Elizabeth Szokel 146-97 Tiffany Chan 153-107

Maria Fassi hasn't played good enough to be a shoe in to keep her card. Which shows how ridicules it is to use the CME points to keep their card. Also Jennifer Kupcho who I like, should have two and a half wins not three.
OK: Enough ranting from me about this Tournament. I just want all the players to get a fair chance to keep their card.

Thompson is skipping? Is she injured? Interesting as she played and missed the cut last week. She did have that IG post complaining about the Evian in 2019, it was canceled in 2020, but in 2021 she also played the Dow, skipped Evian, and went straight to the Open.

Thompson is skipping? Is she injured? She complained that she hit great drives that bounced in to the rough. Called the course all kinds of names and swore that she wasn't going to come back.. She may be too embarrassed to return. She should let bygones be bygones and return.

Tuesday's practice round on Getty has 91 pics and 3 of them are captioned wrong (which is not unusual) ... Pia Babnik for a pic of Pajaree A., Chella Choi for a pic of Cyborg and Allisen Corpuz for a pic of a player in a Team Italy uniform ... do they make this many errors covering the PGA Tour?

Some pre-event players to watch.
Nothing would make me happier this week than seeing Lee6 avenge what happened last year and claim this title. She's a hard one to peg: she hasn't played all that much this year, and she isn't coming into the week anywhere near as strong as last year. But... she does love this course and does well here most years. Anyways, she could really use a great week to get her back into the right direction.
Inbee needs just this event to complete the Stupid... uh, Super Slam. To be honest, if she never gets it, so what? She won this event before it was a Major, and she has a Hall of Fame career to keep herself warm. But she's running out of years, and alas she hasn't been very strong lately.
Min Ji Park is dipping her toes this week. I hope she has a good enough week to encourage her to take the Nestea plunge. I feel like this is a great course for a KLPGAer, what with the hilly fairways and the fact that it usually doesn't favor long hitters. Provided she can master the putting, she can make a run.
Jin Young Ko has been eerily quiet other than her YouTube posts. I sure hope she doesn't finish another year without a Major, and she really needs to give Minjee Lee a taste of what she can do when she's at the top of her game. I would prefer for her to get the win at the British if anywhere, since she has not gotten that one before, but any Major win will do. Like Six, she hasn't played much, and her most recent round at the KPMG was pretty weak, so I don't know what to expect. It wouldn't surprise me to see another bad week like last year, but it just feels like she'll get back on beam sometime soon.
Can In Gee win again? Well, yeah, she can. I think she will do well but not get the win. But with her, so much is mental, and I think that KPMG win might have freed her mind a bit.
This might also be a good course set up for Hye Jin. Fingers crossed!

I know those two criminals would like a Six sandwich. Have they been banned?

Caddie list is out ... Leona cheaping out again with twin sis Lisa ... is Dermot Byrne finished? Uh oh, trouble in paradise ... did Pop-off dump fiance Max Mehles? (they got mushy on the green after her last hole during Round One at Cognizant in May ) She's going with Jack Clarke. MJ Uribe is off this week, but Ivan Galdame landed a decent bag with Ruixin Liu. Sarah Kemp keeping it in the "family" with Lisa Cornwell. Frida Kinhult left Jackie Schram at home for Mikael Kinhult (her daddy, I assume ... older bro Marcus is a pro in Europe). Ex-MHL loop Harry Ewing going with Amanda Doherty, good move.

I'm pretty sure on three of the eight "random" players here (Anna N., Leona and Dryburgh) ... I guess all the Asians were playing the course at this time.
CORRECTION: The player in the teal shirt is not Dryburgh, it's Maja Stark.

I've scanned various sources and haven't seen Hans and Franz, so far.
