I really think Ha Na need to tone it down a bit, toward the end of the round. Coming down eighteen, I was thinking "oh No". She was waving at everyone, maybe thinking she had the tournament won. When Chella tied her,I expected Chella to win.

I wish the Golf Channel announcers would do some research, before they come on the air. Karen Stubbles said that Q Beck came out of no where to win the KEB. If she had she would have seen how successful Q Baek was, on the KLPGA. That she did not come out of nowhere.

more pics and video on my blog: Chella Choi Wins 2015 Marathon ClassicChella ChoiI’m a fan of a lot of the players on the LPGA. So whomever wins from week to week I have reason to cheer. But sometimes there is extra cause for me to be happy. Chella Choi winning the 2015 Marathon Classic is one of those times. She’s one of a handful of my very top favorite players, the winner of the 2014 William and Mousie Powell Award, voted on by fellow LPGA peers, as the player who best exemplifies the spirit, ideals and values of the tour. Not only am I fond of her delightful spirit, but I loved how Chella’s dad stuck with her as caddie, waiting for her first victory to retire. Well, daddy caddie can call it a day now. His daughter is an LPGA winner, defeating Ha Na Jang on the first playoff hole in sudden death to win in Sylvania, Ohio. I admit I became a bit verklempt watching it unfold. I hope this is the first of many more Chella Choi titles to come. 1 CHELLA CHOI (-14) 2 HA NA JANG (-14) T3 LYDIA KO (-13)

Part of the blog post talks about this annoying tendency by Western media. To them, if you're not on the LPGA and you do well at a Major, you came out of nowhere (unless you're Brooke Henderson or Charly Hull, apparently).

I meant that coming to the last hole tied for the lead. It time to focus on the task at hand and not start to celebrate too early.
I remember I K Kim high fiving the gallery at the Kraft. Instead of thinking lag it close for a tap in.

mr3putt: There has been a strawberry blonde trend this year (Meena, Oh, D. Kang), but if those players aren't in contention on Sunday, nobody will notice. mr3putt: Mr Volvik followed Mi Hyang Lee for nine holes at the USWO, round one, but I'm not sure if that's the same guy in the the above pic (red shirt). Sometimes a swing instructor will wear the same brand hat as their player. Chella Choi is the third LPGA Volvik winner, but it feels like the first, especially since it was in the continental U.S. Il Hee Lee won in the Bahamas, but it was only 36 holes on a course that was half-underwater, so some people didn’t take it seriously. Then Mi Hyang won in Japan, but it wasn’t against the strongest field and almost no one outside of Japan and Korea saw it on TV. Per Volvik’s website, the 95-compression Volvik S3 has a urethane cover and that’s what Chella and Mi Hyang have been using this year. The USGA rates it as low spin off a driver and high spin off a short iron. It doesn’t seem like the orange version of this ball is marketed to the public and I didn’t see any on Ebay. The English and Korean Volvik websites only show a white version of the S3. Maybe the colored S3s were discontinued or they are specially made for their staffers...like the orange one I have that’s stamped MI HYANG. Il Hee Lee uses a yellow Volvik Vista iS 4-piece, which has a Zirconium HZ-III (whatever that is) cover. I really need to check out the Volvik swag tent at next year’s Shop-Rite. I usually find a lot of pro-level balls during my early-March roadside scavenging, but haven’t found a Volvik or XXIO. I should check my stock to see if I have any vintage Titleist marshmallows left, which I like using on short par-3s.

Congrats to Chella. I never want to see par on on a par 5 win....I always like to see a birdie. The Hulk was too amp'ed up and sailed her approach in the playoff. I still expect dad to be on Chella's bag for a while....I think she's too dependent on him....and it would be difficult for her to find a suitable replacement. Man does Chella play slow. Jerry knows the LPGA tour and stopped the interview once he knew Chella would struggle with other questions. So that was MHL at the celebration....was the other gal a Chinese pro?...and was the white guy the Volvik rep? Volvik must be happy...now they can change their commercial with a LPGA winner. Volvik needs to develop a really good urethane ball if the want to play in the ball market....I've found a couple Volviks...but they feel like rocks. I also found a XXIO ball...but it looks and feels like a rock too. I like the Volvik White Color ball. I guess it is a little bit like a rock but it sounds good. I used to take lessons from Little Jerry Barber (some consider him the greatest long putter of all time.) He always said the only thing that matters about a golf ball is how it sounds off the putterhead. He was also the only pro I know who said you should practice 30 foot putts--not 3 foot putts. He said if you can make the 30 footers than you should be able to make the 3 footers.

I forgot about IHL & MHL as winners....Volvik really has to update their commercial we see on GC. Take about commercials...the Honma ones on SBS are very weird. They must have just launched the S3 & S4 earlier this year. Unless you have a lot of Asian golfers in NJ....it would e rare for your to find Volviks or XXIO golf balls. From the old days....I always found the original Strata's to be marshmallows.

So do you rent a scooter when you attend an event? At the 2012 CN CWO....there was an old guy who had a poster on his scooter...."Uncle Ron...Natalie Gulbis's biggest fan"....the guy would ride his scooter....park it and then walk up to the green to get a better look at Gulbis.....WTF. Gulbis has the weirdest fans next to MW. Weren't there some Jerry Barber balls and clubs in the 60's? It's funny how balls and clubs would have player's name branding back in the old days...yet rarely is this the case nowadays. My fav ball back in the days were Gene Littler by RAM.

I remember Jerry Barber plodding around the first Senior tournament I ever attended, the '92 Bell Atlantic Classic...he was 76 years old!
My first irons were Northwestern Hubert Green. I think NW also made a J.C. Snead model.

My first irons were Northwestern Hubert Green. A Sears special with aluminum shafts? My 1st set was a used 7 piece jr. set...Powerbuilt Citations with a black carry bag....$35 and my 1st set of golf spikes were women's shoes....no jr. shoes in the Mesozoic era.
