I'm surprised The Great Dictator's K-Pop gals aren't dressed more like this.

Time to put this thread back on the rails before 2015 comes to a close:
In the category of overly concerned civil servants we have the Customs and Border Protection agents at LAX who recently suspected the rookie group Oh My Girl of being sex workers and detained them for nearly fifteen hours before their label changed their return tickets and got them on the next flight back to Korea, foregoing a photo shoot for their new album and a performance at a gala in LA.

Anyone who has looked at the front page of Apple Music and iTunes recently will note that as of the 11th K-pop is now recognized by the world's most popular online music merchant as an official genre. EXO's most recent album is one of those featured on the front page at present.

This is hilarious.....ya think by showing a pic of themselves as a K-Pop group would get them through TSA easily. Were they wearing niqabs? Did TSA have some evidence that they were pulling tricks after their shows??....15 hours is very long. I can just see GC making some false allegations to get the LPGA some bandwidth. "Dumbo stopped at San Francisco airport days before the Swinging Skirt event and denied entry into the US. She had in her possession a black book, several boxes of condoms and lingerie." They should have come to Canada...easier access. One Korean guy I play golf told me he has a friend who owns some businesses.....he has some Korean gals who come here on 6 month visa's working for him as call girls. And an old Asian guy I sold my driver to....asked if I was interested in meeting some Koreans call girls too. Van City Rules!!! With heightened terrorist threats....US border services/TSA can be very demanding at times. When I traveled to Chambers Bay in June.....I was pelted with many questions about the tournament. But ya have to play the game.....if ya act like a smart a**......forget obtaining access and future access. But to be fair...I was questioned more when I returned to Canada from the 2010 USSO at Sahalee. There's a TV show called Border Security here....it's very entertaining. A US family of four got lost and drove into Canadian Customs/border by accident looking for the Peace Arch park. They were pulled over...and the mom was packing a loaded glock in her diaper....that's hilarious.

What set off the immigration agents' suspicions about Oh My Girl was that the members kept addressing each other as "sister" (unni, hoobae) when none were related to each other by blood. The warm weather clothing and camera equipment they packed for the photo shoot coming from chilly Korea (they were visiting California, not Iqaluit, duh) and the fact that they apparently did not have the correct visas only added to the erroneous assumption that they might have been sex workers. Here's how we prefer to think of them:
Ellison "Eli" Kim, one of the two US born members of the popular boy group U-KISS and also host of Arirang TV's weekly K-pop showcase Simply K-Pop, took to social media last week to drop a series of bombshells: the 24-year old revealed that he is legally married to a former model who is 11 years his senior and has been since June of 2014. Out of concerns for both their privacy and the cohesion of his group he's kept quiet about his over five year relationship with this woman but felt compeled to come out with the news now. They of course haven't had a proper wedding ceremony but they should be having one fairly soon since she's three months pregnant with their first child. He also hopes that his fans understand and will allow him to continue with U-KISS and wish his new family well. A few days after posting all that he took down his social media accounts entirely.

Who knows what's accurate....but from what I've read and can interpret. Hmmmm.......IMO...anyone who understands the word..."unni"....knows it's simply a term of endearment. The Customs/Border agents were more concerned with the amount of clothes vs. what type of clothes...therefore indicating a long stay. Seems like the gals/their manager thought they could conduct business in the US under the Visa Waiver Program when indeed they needed a P1 performer visa. Their detainment included a 10 hr wait for the next flight to S. Korea. In another article....supposedly they lied about coming to the US to only visit...lying ......will always trigger trouble. Seems like a pretty simple and incompetent manager who could not demonstrate to the US CBA's that if the they did a Google......Oh My Girl is a K-pop band. There was discussion .....demonstrating the dates and tickets of their return flights after their gig. Hmmmmm.....seems like a pretty cut and dry case...if things were processed properly.....to enter the US to perform. IMO...the issue stems from 3 things: 1) lying...if indeed this is true 2) wrong working visa's. 3) racial profiling from the Yanks......lol.....NEVER? ..... ...I guess the CBA's used Trump's database. ....well at least the Merican's are protecting their borders vs. our nearly appointed lop sided...I'm mean left sided Canadian government.....Welcome to Canada....no checks required.....free social services too....without paying any taxes....LUV Canada!!!!! One of many articles....this one is written by a Korean. www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-k-pop-group-denied-entry-lax-20151211-story.html

www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-ktown-nightlife-20151130-story.html"A half-dozen middle-aged men are in a tangle with a woman half their age."
LMAO.....the activity from these illegally run LA KoreaTown karaoke bars sound like the LPGA tour......where middle-age men/fanboys also drool and fawn over gals half their age. We need some of our LA members....like minimlistglfr, 4waymiss, and spearheaded by the one and only....fanofseri .....to stroll down to KTown one Saturday night to verify if these "doumi girl" activities are fact or unicorn...and YES....PICTURES and VIDEO's required. I'll have to ask some of the Koreans I play golf with about this in Van City....FORE!!!
