youtu.be/rHDrxDm_zggThe images from this stream were so good. Some of the holes looked good. Most of my favorite players were shown in the first 10 minutes. LOL

31 players were under par after round one last year. Heat, wind, and hiking up hills took their toll. So many withdrew.
59 players are under par this year after round one. I will say lack of wind and the wet conditions played a huge part in that.
I don't think there will be any rain the next three days. I'm hoping some wind blows.
Either way, I'm looking forward to Sunday.

It feels a bit like Ina Yoon is straightjacketed on this tour. I counted at least three holes where she had 300+ yard drives; she didn't hit the fairway on any of them. These courses are not laid out to accommodate long bombers like Ina. But if she ever gets to the LPGA, watch out.

These courses are not laid out to accommodate long bombers like Ina. But if she ever gets to the LPGA, watch out. This comment sort of confused me. There is an effort in the US to shorten courses for women because they are too long and perhaps over advantage long hitters. Key to this effort is how Bunkers etc are placed for long male golfers and therefore not placed in such a way to challenge women off the tees and as a result force women throught risk and reward to use more clubs over the course of the 18 holes. If a golfer hits the ball far and not onto the fairway, did they choose the wrong club and strategy? If a golfer hits the ball into the rough or hazard etc are they unable to hit it straight in the weather conditions? These things just make it seem to me like Ina has to be more intelligent in navigating herself around a golf course. She may have chosen the wrong club in an effort make up for the 11 on her first hole. I guess what I'm saying is, if she cannot hit the ball straight enough or choose the right clubs on the KLPGA tour how is she going to magically do it well on the LPGA tour?

They have some tough pin placements today.

Whenever you hear the phrase 'it's a second-shot golf course', that means that they have set it up so that the first shot is not going to penalize the long hitters. Which means they'll get their big club out and bombs away.
Ina does that, but she shouldn't be doing that, because the KLPGA makes it tougher off the tee than the LPGA, and it doesn't seem to be helping her when she hits the long ball. That's why the long hitters rarely dominate on the KLPGA unless they are all-around players (like Sung Hyun was). Ina will have to learn how to pick and choose when to hit driver if she wants to succeed out there.

They have some tough pin placements today. Last year only two players were better than 10-under. I'm curious how many players will be better than 10 under.

Hee Jeong Lim played really great the first fourteen holes with six birdies. However that swing popped up on fifteen where she doesn't follow through. After missing the green left on fifteen she missed a short putt for par. Hit a bad drive on par five sixteen, still had a short birdie putt which she left short. Another missed green on seventeen but made about a ten foot par save. Got a little luck on her wayward drive on eighteen, hit her approach shot close and made a birdie. Which is a positive to carry to the third round.

Ina Yoon missed the cut by a shot. She'll probably never forget the 10th hole. On Friday, she had a double there. That followed the 11 she had there on Thursday. So, she was +8 (!!!) on that par 5 hole over two days. Had she just not hit her short approach OB on Thursday, she would have made the cut with a 9. Had she parred both days, she would have been at 6 under and in contention!

Min Ji and Ga Young are ominously lurking. Can Ga Young finally break through with her first career win at the biggest event of the year, or will she have her usual struggles should she get close? Will Min Ji defend her title? Has anyone done that before?
