My field rating for this inaugural event is a mediocre 63%. My breakdown is 69% from the LPGA Priority List & 57% from the Rolex Rankings. The field will be led by top ten players: Jin Young Ko Lydia Ko Minjee Lee Atthaya Thitikul Lexi Thompson Inbee Park Danielle Kang
Top players skipping the event this week include: Nelly Korda Nasa Hataoka Sei Young Kim Jessica Korda Jeongeun Lee6 Hyo-Joo Kim Ingee Chun Anna Nordqvist Matilda Castren Georgia Hall Gaby Lopez Austin Ernst A Lim Kim
There was some nice moves in the Rolex Rankings this week. Nasa Hataoka jumped into the top ten moving from 12-6 Sei Young Kim fell out of the top ten. Other noteable moves include: Hannah Green 32-19 Madelene Sagstrom 42-34 Marina Alex 69-61 Chella Choi jumped back into the top 100, and my field rating 104-91 Brittany Lincicome fell out of the top 100 Other big moves outside the top 100: Lilia Vu 151-124 Haeji Kang 199-150
Sarah Jane Smith & Megan Osland were the Monday qualifiers. Both shot -5
Looking at the stat leaders, the only major change worth noting is that Minjee Lee took over the top spot for the Vare Trophy. Her scoring average of 69.050 is the best on the LPGA Tour. Last week's leader Nanna Koerstz Madsen fell to third.

Caddie list is out ... this is the second straight week where "Ellen Henderson" is looping for The ECP. Is Ellen a new name for Brittany Henderson, or is there some other Henderson lugging that bag? Mirim Lee (six straight trunk slams) is off this week, but Ivan Galdame won't see much of a difference with Youngin Chun. Among the two invitees, Rachel Kuehn will have her mom on the bag (golfed for WFU during the '80s) ... Anna Davis has no one assigned to her. Now for a potential shocker: Either Thad Kael (he of the Detroit Red Wings cap) needed the week off or he got sh**canned by Penguin Princess ... maybe being second in the ROY race wasn't good enough, so Peter Godfrey will get the call ... let's see who is where when they play Cognizant in two weeks. Maybe Ariya 51 forgot who Peter was because she is going with Les Luark for another week.

A couple of those players are playing in the KLPGA major starting tomorrow.
I'm curious how well Anna Davis will do. LOL.

The white line yardage here is only 6,258 ... this place might get torched by somebody.
*******
Per a satellite view on Google Maps, this is the par-4 12th hole (396 yards), the only one with houses so close to it. They reversed the front and back nines for this event, so this is the 3rd hole for the members (No. 1 handicap). I assume Shibuno Fever is hitting more than one ball here.

Great round for Jin Young Ko eight birdies one bogey, six in a row back nine.
However she was one shy of Minjee Lee who had eight birdies no bogeys. They let the afternoon group that this Tournament may be a birdie fest.

Good start for Albane. One of the exciting young bland corporate shills in pro golf.

Thick rough forces players to hit the fairway. And tough pin locations on rolling greens cause all sorts of headaches. In a long year of events, I'm okay with a very small number of 🐦 festivals.
I also think a few events where the champion after four rounds is even par because the course is tough is necessary.
Maybe moving the pin locations for the weekend will cause more problems at this new event.
The PGA has way too many 🐦 festivals in my opinion. 20-under at the Masters is ridiculous.

SY Ryu (T-97) ... that's gonna leave a mark ... Cam, you're doin' a heck of a job.
She is playing in the pros a lot better than I thought she would.

Round 1 Fantastic round from Jin Young, even though it didn't start that way. She was actually struggling a bit at first, with about 50% GIR on her front nine. Then she hit the first nine, her back nine, and WHAM! six birdies in a row and a 64. NIIIICE. The afternoon wave seemed tougher, and there weren't a lot of great scores. Hye-Jin managed a decent 69, and so did Inky (!!). OK, this is practically her backyard, but would be great to see her make some cash this week. Inbee only made a 71, which included an ugly par save miss from like two feet. Ouch! Sisters hwaiting!

I was hoping that So Yeon Ryu would have a really good year. So far that doesn't seem to be the case, maybe she will improve. I was worried when she made the swing change, because she had an unorthodox swing anyway. But it was a swing that had served her well through out her career. Before the change she could have won more if she had finished Tournaments better. After the change she had a great three quarters of a year but not much since then. Anyway she will be my favorite player ever, well after Mi Hyun Kim of course.
