Wow, Yoon Ina already has 3 drives recorded at over 300, and one at 298, and she's only on the 13th hole!
Watching the stream, looks like most of the tee boxes are elevated and the holes run down to the green.

The rough is not thick. I assume like most weeks the weekend will play tougher. How they make Thursday the "easy" day and the weekend tougher I am not sure yet outside of putting the pin in really unfavorable locations. Maybe someone can explain the science behind this.
I cannot imagine someone being 5 or 6 shots back on Friday morning and winning this thing. You cannot win an event on Thursday, but I think you can certainly lose it.
I don't see Hyo Joo going out there tomorrow morning and shooting 4 or 5 bogeys. She might not win it but do you see her losing this? She's played well the last few weeks.
Anyone a few shots back like A Lim is in great position to have a chance.

Eee Ga Young teed off at #1 wearing a dopey mask ... took it off later in the round, but then why wear it in the first place? Localized hay fever?

The par-5 2nd hole (520+ yards) has its trap doors spaced out well ... between The Hulk, Lucky Six and Eee Da Yeon, they found all of them.

She also had several more in the low 300s. Ina's best was 309.5 yards on 11. She had 3 more 300+ and a whole bunch over 280; it feels like her average was longest. Moon never broke 290, although she had a lot over 280. Goes to show you, though: long they were, but two of them didn't break par. If/when they become stars, it'll be because their games become more complete. P.S. it was sweet how A Lim seemed to adopt Ina as a younger sister. During the broadcast, there was one moment where they were hanging out on a tee box practicing making a heart symbol together. |

Really good round for Mighty Mite Seung Yeon Lee at minus three.
Also great round for Yewon Lee, the wagon's still rolling.
Jeongeun Lee6 needs to wake up and start playing like she is capable of.
She is too talented to keep putting up over par rounds.

Hee Jeong Lim and Ha Na Jang withdrew.
Ha Na looked like she was having physical problems.
They only showed Hee Jeong once, so I didn't see if anything was bothering her.
I wouldn't think it was because of her score, because she is capable of shooting a good round.
Another note why are so many golfers coming up short of the green.

Great to see her so happy and interacting with so many of the players. Think maybe she's a bit constricted from her natural personality now on the LPGA while trying to learn English (but then you do see her being more demonstrative - when she gets on the broadcasts - than most of the players). Also nice to see Minji can still play, haha. Ina seems to have played smarter today than she has been doing - nice 68! Hope she can hold it together over the weekend. Hope it tightens up we can see a battle. Hyo Joo, please don't run away with this thing. You've taken enough $$ from these players already! Hae Ran and Hyun Kyung at -4 need to go low tomorrow, but not out of it yet. |

Fun story: Hyo Joo's caddie this week is her sister. This is the first (and she says the last LOL) time she has ever used her sister as a caddie and wants to 'make good memories' for her this week.  |
