Ingrid Lindblad showing up Ryu and Sorrenstam by 9 strokes today. She must have read the comments here saying it was a disrespectful pairing. I don't care if she shot twenty under par, it still was disrespectful pairing. She is an Amateur with nothing to lose so she can free wheel it. Anika is using this as a fair well Tournament who can also free wheel it. So Yeon Ryu has a US Open win six LPGA wins and about eighteen wins world wide. A Japan Major Korean Major plus two LPGA Major wins. Yet Brittany Lang who lucked into an Open win. Had done absolutely nothing before the Major win and nothing after. That Major win is the only reason she still get to play on the LPGA. Yet she get's a pairing in the Broadcast window. I bet you was hoping that she would do that so you could jump on here with that comment. I do enjoy pointing out comments that are dismissive. It is possible to support without acting this way. I actually didn’t think Lindblad would do so well, but I DID think you were discounting the effort a legend like Annika would put in before teeing up again. I don’t believe she’d decide to tee it up willy nilly and potentially tarnish her legacy. She’s also likely to be a hot favorite for future editions of the US Senior Opens, so this may just be a restart of her US Open appearances again. Also, they are absolutely in the prime coverage window tomorrow, and Annika will be one of the most followed groups, so one would think it would be more of an honor than a relegation. Again why bring Brittany Lang in this? Can you make a point without first insulting someone else? Ryu, one of the classiest ladies on tour, probably wouldn’t approve of such behavior tbh.

The USGA website streamed the featured group of Lexi, JY Ko and Kupcho this morning. Ko shot a solid round with few mistakes. Lexi made a sweet eagle on 1.
The surprise leader is Mina Harigae who hasn't had the bang up of a season so far. Four cuts with no top tens.

So you showed class by pointing to her score. I brought her up because Lang didn't belong in that pairing. It's just how the LPGA works, (ok I'm done, you have your opinion) So keep trolling!!!

So Yeon is with Annika because they know she’ll dress like a PRO for TV.

Round 1
They helpfully posted all of Jin Young's shots in her first nine holes on her score, and based on that, she was hitting the ball really, really well: every-green-and-fairway good. Her putting wasn't bad either, she just missed by a hair here and there. It feels like she could kick it into another gear once she zeroes in on the greens. As it was, she still had a respectable 69.
Hats off to Sei Young and Sung Hyun; they've both struggled a lot lately (especially Namdalla), but they both shot 69s as well. But Hyo Joo and In Gee, who got to 2 under at one point, both faded to 1 over.
A bit bummed that neither of the KLPGAers had a good start, but Hye-Jin had a decent even par round.
Sisters hwaiting!

Ingrid Linblad is a top top amateur. She did well at ANWA the last two years in front of crowds and in TV. She was third at Grayhawk a could weeks ago for the NCAA champ. It is absolutely no shock to me of all the amateurs she breaks through with such a great round. The other amateurs didn't post anything special.
The greens seem fairly flat. Anyone with pictures showing otherwise?
How fast are the greens?

I just watched Brandel Chamblee on Golf Channel spend ten minutes complaining about how wide open the fairways are and how short the rough is. I get the feeling he was not happy about the low scores today. He pointed out that the players who won this in the past were always great at keeping the ball in play. Linblad apparently only hit 8 fairways today, which he felt should not have yielded the low scores it did for her.
I can't tell because I only watched isolated players today, but I sure hope the rough is a little more penal than it looked.

If it’s so short there is no fear then he’s probably right but Brandel will advance any argument that’s good for Brandel. High rough machismo at the us open will always sell.

The Dinah officially ending this year gives Nordquist a window to own a true Grand Slam with a US Open win.

They changed the course setup because they are tired of the Asian winning it.

Hye Jin Choi ON FIRE! Shot a 7 under 64 and is current solo second. Just saying: if any American girl had managed a runner-up finish at the US Women's Open as a 17-year-old, she would have forever after been featured in every television pairing, especially at this event. Hye-Jin? Showed her putt once in a recap. linkWell, I hope we'll be seeing her a lot this weekend. Hwaiting!

Choi's 64 ties the lowest 2nd round score in US Women's Open history. She's great, but this shows that this course is just set up too easy.
They finally bothered to talk about her on the Golf Channel: Brandel said that Choi has "one of the coolest moves you will ever see". He likened it to Nick Price's swing (!). Would have been fun if they had followed her record tying round a little bit, but OK, I'll take what I can get!

By the way So Mi Lee did not play too bad. She had four birdies but four bogeys and a double. She missed only three greens but had thirty five putts.
