I don't know if this is the place to discuss this... the LPGA now requires all players to turn pro to enter Q-school / Q-Series. That will urge more players to stay in school. It will also push the top talent out of school. That's if you assume that the top talent is coming from college. Looking at this year's Rookie list, it doesn't look that way -- the top five are not college stars, at least from the American system. Okay. Fine, but when I said school I didn't mean only collegiate.

HF, by omission, you dumped all over Throbbin' Robynn. It's not her fault that she got grouped with Muni at 1:07 PM on Thursday ... and what a GREAT group that is. I would definitely follow them on foot and so would SoYeonFan. The third in the group is unknown to me, Malak Bouraeda (a) ... born in the U.S., but plays under the flag of Morocco ... obviously will try to get into the Olympics this way ... will be a playing as a 5th year grad student for the Colorado Buffs in the fall. You are right Muni Hee, Tiffany Chan, Allison Corpuz and Gabriel Then were on the 2017 USC Team. I would certainly follow them after So Yeon of course. They won the I believe it was 2017 East Lake Cup. Muni Hee came from behind in the anchor position to give them the win. Allison Corpuz was the Individual winner and Muni was top ten. I also like the pairing of USC, Allison Corpuz, Annie Park and UCLA Lilia Vu. And also the pairing of Gabriel Ruffels, Laney Fryz, Cheyenne Knight. I can't believe the pairing that they gave So Yeon Ryu Annika and Michelle Wei are using this as an exhibition. To treat So Yeon like that is shameful.

Jin Young's press conference
I'm not sure what to expect from her right now. She changed her swing coach recently -- that doesn't sound promising (although it was a coach she had been with before). Sounds like she's been working extra hard to be prepared for this week, but her usual swagger doesn't seem to be there. I sure hope she can bring it this week, she (and the Sisters) need to have a good Major after so many weaker ones.
Hopefully the fact there are other Koreans getting wins now will take some of the pressure off of her. Good luck, Jin Young!!!

The last three years this event was won by non-tour members or rookies. It feels like we shouldn't ignore Hae Ran, So Mi, Na Rin An or Hye-Jin. One or more of these ladies might surprise this week.
Hwaiting!

I am fascinated by Kupcho, in that she is the most outwardly confident looking LPGA player I've ever seen. She struts around not only like she is number one in the world, but also like this whole stupid thing is a waste of her time.

She struts around not only like she is number one in the world, but also like this whole stupid thing is a waste of her time. I think her brother is a pro golfer, too. I can imagine the hardscrabble upbringing that provides the tenaciousness needed to put a little ball in the hole at country clubs.

The Asian-American representation in this event (and US-based girls and womens golf in general, as I observed at the local USWO qualifier) is remarkable. A good case for a sociological analysis perhaps. Probably better not to call attention to what is happening though.

Ingrid Lindblad showing up Ryu and Sorrenstam by 9 strokes today. She must have read the comments here saying it was a disrespectful pairing. I don't care if she shot twenty under par, it still was disrespectful pairing. She is an Amateur with nothing to lose so she can free wheel it. Anika is using this as a fair well Tournament who can also free wheel it. So Yeon Ryu has a US Open win six LPGA wins and about eighteen wins world wide. A Japan Major Korean Major plus two LPGA Major wins. Yet Brittany Lang who lucked into an Open win. Had done absolutely nothing before the Major win and nothing after. That Major win is the only reason she still get to play on the LPGA. Yet she get's a pairing in the Broadcast window. I bet you was hoping that she would do that so you could jump on here with that comment.
