Ho-hum, another week and another check for Hee Young Park Yang aka Amy Yang aka The Yangster. Give me some credit, people, I was the one who reported on her mysterious 'Proto Forged' irons at Shoprite last year ... four months before The Old Ko made them famous last week by winning ... and humiliating Crazy Bob. Memo to the LPGA intern: The Yangster's Twitter and IG links on the website are broken ... did she ditch social media? Just went through all her pics on Getty ... boy, that's a lot of old gear ... hooray for the Ping Rhapsody driver and Ping G10 irons in 2008.
I watched the first round highlights on the website yesterday ... it sounded like Chantal was broadcasting from inside her bathroom with the door closed. BTW, the round two highlights start with Dr. Noh missing an ace by about three inches. I applaud Mollie for doing the one-hole coverage stream ... although the execution was incompetent ... which was somewhat preordained by a venue that doesn't give a rat's azz about the LPGA.
No standout second rounds by the Korean golfers but some pretty good rounds. In gee Chun and Jenny Shin lead them at minus four. Minus three were Jeongeun Lee6, Yaeeun Hong, Inbee Park, Hye Jin Choi, A Lim Kim. Na Rin An just missed the minus three crowd with a minus two.
Kelly Tan liked that number I guess so she also shot minus three
However Hee Young Park and Jeongeun Lee5 decided to go the other way. I figured that they were shoe in to make the cut but they both shot plus five.
Yuka Saso couldn't overcome the first round five over par, that included a quadruple bogey. She came close with six birdies and one bogey to miss the cut by one
It was certainly not a bad day for the most part, but once again the Sisters are not in a great position to get the win. Still, you never know; the two leaders are not exactly superstars, and are about due weaker rounds. Basically, if one of the Sisters near the top wants to win, she is going to have to go low. I'm hoping at least one or two of these ladies has something amazing in her bag. Fingers crossed!
Hot Six had an eagle and generally managed to keep her head. At five back, this might be an ideal time for her to exorcise the Evian loss with a great final round comeback. For Yaeeun, this would be a great time to get an early top ten or even top five; improving her status and getting into limited fields would be a good goal.
In Gee and Inbee are also within reach of top tens; say, how about a bunch of you guys getting one!! As for Hye Jin, it hasn't been an ideal week, but she could also grab a top ten.
