It won't be the snobs versus the slobs this week ... the slobs can't get through the front gate ... no spectators ... no pro-am ... probably no outside volunteers because there is no tournament website. They'll have a Monday qualifier (31 players), but not through the usual process of "anyone" applying via the LPGA website. I assume the players will be permitted to use their own loopers. I'm curious to see if the broadcast will look any different on lpga.com ... I doubt this will be a pattern for the future (giving the product away for nothing). Don't forget the tourney is Thursday thru Saturday ... gotta get these "people" out of here ASAP.

Monday's qualifier is down to 27 players ... Gimmee is tearing it up at -5 thru 14 ... lowest score in the clubhouse is Frida Kinhult at -4, who'd be a nice add to the scenery. Gemma Dryburgh shot -1, which turned out to be practice round, I guess ... her name is already in the field of 120 ... glad she's in, I like her swing and she's really trying to make it.
*****
Hadn't see Ann Cain's Twitter in a while ... never knew she handed out envelopes of practice putting disks that say Titleist.
******
UPDATE - Whoops, I misread the scoreboard .... it was Andrea Lee, not Alison Lee, who won the qualifier. Kinhult and Darquea are still tied for the second spot.

The Koreans on the Florida swing have a message for their fans back home.

My field rating for this tournament is solid 66% My breakdown is 74% from LPGA Priority List and 58% from Rolex Rankings.
Eighteen of the top 25 players from the LPGA Priority List and 14 of the top 25 from the Rolex Rankings will be teeing it up.
Top players skipping the event include: Jin Young Ko Minjee Lee Lydia Ko Sei Young Kim Danielle Kang Lizette Salas So Yeon Ryu Hyo Joo Kim Hannah Green Eun-Hee Ji
To update Phil's local qualifying post: Andrea Lee -5 and Frieda Lee -4 are the two qualifiers.
A few names that failed to qualify include: Daniela Darquea -4 (lost playoff) Kristen Gillman -2 Kim Kaufman -2 Kaitlyn Papp -1 Kristy McPherson - Par Sydnee Michaels - Par Ann Van Dam - +2
There wasn't much movement in this week's Rolex Rankings. The most important moves were: Danielle Kang 8 to 6 Yuka Saso 9-7 Celine Boutier 25 -21 Charley Hull 33-28 Stacy Lewis 58-51
Ga Young Lee moved into the top 100 this week and will now be part of my field rating. Angel Yin drops out of the top 100
I don't usually make note of players that skipped the previous tournament, but it is worth noting that Jin young ko has inched ahead of Nelly Korda for the #1 spot. Nelly will be playing this week, Jin Young will not.

I believe that Jin Young moving to #1 should be included in the list of 'most important moves' on the Rolex Rankings (temporary though it might be). Certainly more significant than anything Stacy Lewis or Charley Hull did! It remains to be seen if Nelly will be impacted by worrying over her ranking going forward.

Caddie list is out ... Castren is off this week, so Johnny Scott will work for Buhai. Maybe T-70 last week for Bethany wasn't good enough, so Rock is back on the street ... she'll go with Jackie Schram.
********
The LPGA will copy Japan this week ... the broadcast on its website will be at one hole only ... don't know which one. I'm guessing it will be the 1st or 10th ... they should do it right have a cam at the range, also. Chantel McCabe will be on the mic ... she was at last year's USWA with a notepad, working for whom I don't know. The Peacock stream will be a "normal" broadcast.
********
Threesomes are posted ... good work by the management of Cyborg and Hong as they're together (w/ Corpuz) ... hoping NYC does not drag down Stephenson and Pajaree ... J. Song and Muni, I like that ... Furue with Dr. Noh and Sagstrom, most interesting ... Drybugh's reward for getting in at #120 is Christina Kim.

Dating to last year, this is the fifth straight event in Florida. Perhaps they should consider spreading the wealth a little more?

I must say that The EMP has been around the block in big-time golf and is still well-preserved.
I don't know what to make of Gary G. ... he's been around the block, too. If recall correctly, he was with the SS Feng at the 2017 USWO ... per Wikipedia, he met her when she was nobody and got her to enroll in his golf academy in Hilton Head ... needless to say, it was a wildly successful collaboration for both. On the other hand, I watched him try to coach The Old Ko on chipping out of heavy grass around a green at Bedminster ... which struck me as ridiculous ... after one season Lydia Tina got rid of him at the end of 2017.
This article dated 11/30/2021 surprised me ... you'd think a list like this is partially a popularity/name recognition contest, but GG is not on it. He may have been on older lists.
*********
The stream at lpga.com on Thursday will be at the par-4 11th hole ... don't know yet which hole they'll do for Friday and Saturday.
*********
Furue teeing off in practice on Tuesday ... with whom?

In other news, the USGA website posted sneak previews of qualifying sites for its 2022 championships.
They'll have 26 locations for the USWO ... 25 appear to be set while the Arizona venue and date is TBA. New Jersey gets Morris County GC on Tue., May 10 ... I've never been there before, founded in 1894. Maybe they'll have a good LPGA turnout there because it's the same week as Cognizant, which played in that general area last year ... except that the LPGA has not announced the Cognizant location for 2022.
Another site that could get a few LPGAers is Soule Park GC (funny name, huh?!) in Ojai, CA on Tue., April 26 ... which is between the two JTBC events in SoCal. California will get three other qualifiers in El Macero, Pauma Valley and Madera. As usual, ROK, Japan and England will have one each.

Just watched Na Rin tee off on the 11th. They did a walking interview with Shubert. They asked her who is the player she most wants to tee-off with, and she replied 'Stacy Lewis'. Asked why, she responded, 'She never gets too up or down. Very even tempered (!!!)".
Has she even watched Lewis before? LOL

Saw In Gee, Kerr and Amy Olson (?) hit their approaches on 11. Kerr took *forever* to hit first. The other two took less than 30 seconds, then walked down the fairway together. In Gee's shot was closest, about ten feet.

Soule Park used to be a dump but it was renovated about 15 years ago and they did a great job. It is pronounced the same way as the city.
