Tour Schedule was released today
One interesting thing it seems the BMW Ladies Championship is no more, there is a vacant spot scheduled as a TBA which was the BMW event - could it be that two events are scheduled that week - a KLPGA and an LPGA event - i seem to recall that happened a few years ago.
as per google translate from the KLPGA website
The 2022 regular KLPGA Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (hereinafter KLPGA) The tour schedule was announced, and it was announced that it will be held on the largest scale ever with '33 tournaments, a total prize of about 30.5 billion won, and an average prize of about 93 billion won.'
The number of competitions increased from 29 to 33 last year, with four, and the total prize money increased by 3.6 billion won from last year's 26.9 billion won. Following the record for the largest number of tournaments in history, it is the first time in the history of the KLPGA Tour that the total prize money exceeds KRW 30 billion.
There were two new competitions this year. In addition to the 'Mediheal-Hankook Ilbo Championship', which was announced at the signing ceremony last year, a new competition with a total prize money of more than KRW 1.5 billion will be additionally held in October

The LPGA 2022 schedule lists the BMW Ladies Championship for Oct 20-23, with "Korean location to be announced" - so seems like it will still happen, just maybe not in Busan. Those dates are open on the KLPGA schedule, so I assume a tournament will be happening that week in Korean with LPGA and KLPGA players.

Those dates are open on the KLPGA schedule, so I assume a tournament will be happening that week in Korean with LPGA and KLPGA players. More than likely its not part of the KLPGA schedule for a number of reasons - They have listed the tournament as 000 Ladies Open - meaning an announcement is forthcoming of a new sponsor
- They state 2 new tournaments are part of the 2022 schedule - Mediheal and this one dated Oct 20-23
- Tournament Prize Money for that event is KRW 1.5 Billion which equates to USD 1.25M
Maybe JTBC will step up for another sponsorship of an LPGA event - seeing they have for 3 other events this year.

There was an update to the schedule today. The tour visited "Island" twice last year. This year "Kyochon Chicken" event moved to Kings Dale? The April 14 - 17 at PeLum? Is new to me. It wasn't on the tour last year. Still too many events without locations.

Will KLPGA allow fans this year?
If the answer is "no", then the 'K' in KLPGA stands for KNUCKLEHEAD. Even bugophobic Japan had spectators at its first two events in 2022 and will have a max of 3,000 pre-sold tickets per day this week. GET OVER IT, PEOPLE!

SEOUL, March 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's new daily COVID-19 cases stayed above 300,000 for four straight days Tuesday as the country battles through the worst virus wave yet, sparked by the highly transmissible omicron variant. The country added 362,338 new COVID-19 infections, mostly locally transmitted, putting the total caseload at 7,228,550, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said. Tuesday's tally marks the second-highest daily count after the all-time high of 383,664 reported Saturday. It's also a big jump from the previous day's 309,780. The daily counts tend to fall on Mondays due to fewer tests on the weekend before rising sharply toward the end of the week.
The death toll from COVID-19 hit a record high of 293, up 93 from Monday, with the total at 10,888. The fatality rate came to 0.15 percent. The number of critically ill patients also reached an all-time high of 1,196, up 38 from the previous day. South Korea has seen a spike in the COVID-19 caseload since the beginning of this year, with the numbers surging from four digits to six digits in about three weeks last month.
The focus now in the fight against COVID-19 has been about how to bring back everyday life as much as possible while maintaining steps to rein in the virus surge. The government announced children aged between 5 and 11 will be able to receive vaccine shots starting March 31. It began to allow uninfected students and school staff members to attend school in person even if family members who live with them are virus positive. Health authorities said they would begin to consider readjusting social distancing rules that currently limit business hours till 11 p.m. and private gatherings of up to six people, as those measures are due to end this week.
Of the locally transmitted cases reported Tuesday, 66,067 cases came from Seoul and 102,983 from the surrounding Gyeonggi Province. The western port city of Incheon reported 20,444 cases. Fifty-five cases came from overseas, raising the total to 30,358.
As of Tuesday, 32.15 million people out of the 52 million population, or 62.7 percent, had received booster shots, fully vaccinated 44.43 million representing 86.6 percent. The KDCA said.
They don't have anything in the sport section except Jin Young Ko accomplishments.
Don't know how that will affect fans at the Tournaments.

If they don't want the ladies playing golf while testing positive, some argument could be made to allow fans in June when the infection rate has died down. I think the arguments for outdoor transmission of this is a bit nuts. They should allow fans as soon as possible. They should allow fans immediately in April with the amount of fans slowly increasing to save face at least. Imagine 2000 for April, 4000 for May, 10,000 for June....something like that.
I'm still puzzled why they still haven't announced locations for some of the events. It's bizarre to me.
I do have another question. What is this pro-am business? They had pro-ams all last year, no? Weren't pro-ams risky during the covid terror?

I hope they won't be cancelling the BMW - would be quite sad not to have a tournament in Korea. Suppose it's possible they cancel the Shanghai tournament and move the Korea date up a week...

It's still on the LPGA schedule; perhaps it's not considered an official KLPGA event anymore?

It's still on the LPGA schedule; perhaps it's not considered an official KLPGA event anymore? I think the BMW event is going ahead, just that there will be two events that week. I'm pretty sure that has happened in the past What this does highlight though is how strong the KLPGA is that it can compete with an opposing LPGA event with above average prize money that you normally see on the KLPGA Kudos to the CEO, Commissioner of whoever they have there who can sell the tour that well to corporate Korea.

I have no idea about this since I'm a newbie, but I have an idea. Isn't the LPGA licensed to JTBC and the KLPGA is licensed to SBS Golf? That would help explain the situation a bit. SBS doesn't like giving their prized ladies to JTBS once a year. There are probably behind the scenes politics, backstabbing, miscommunication, and sponsor issues that explain this.
