For the second straight year, this LPGA event has been transmuted into a JLPGA event. JY Shin will defend her title starting Thursday in a no-cut field of 78. Toto is being quite generous in jacking up the total purse from ¥160,000,000 to ¥220,000,000 ... that's high enough to bring in better LPGAers in the future if it stays there. The 'no spectator' idiocy returns this week and next, but the last two events of the season will have spectators ... makes perfect sense to me.
Rounds Three and Four will LIVE here (Japan time) -

Yuka Saso returns to Japan - she also confirms she has taken up Japanese citizenship
In Japan dual citizens needs to chose by age 21 and she chose Japanese, I get it her dad is Japanese, she speaks the language but i also wonder if this is more of a financial/ strategic thing on her part - i don't blame her though.
I expect 2022 we will see her with a whole bunch of new sponsors and ICTSI Manila will no longer be on her cap and shirt.

That's a lot of exposure they'll be giving away ... Bianca is still banging her head against the LPGA door ... I hope she makes it.

In other news, three of four rounds of the JLPGA pro-test have been played ... unfortunately, Suzuka Yamaguchi is NOT setting the world on fire with 73-76-72 ... Tsubasa Kajitani is worse with 78-76-74.

Tons of JUNK videos on YT for Round One, but the one below of 34 minutes is okay ... a lot of quick cuts between shots and a lot of players shown ... turn your head and you'll miss one! I think Shibuno has the same looper for the second straight week, which doesn't happen too often.

Nice round by Kotone Hori four birdies one bogey to get to even par.
Yui Kawamoto had one bogey front nine, birdie ten, triple bogey 11, made three birdies last six holes. They both played alright.

Harrumph! It didn't take long for the Internet police to take down the two mini-videos I posted earlier. The good news is that this AM's TBS LIVE broadcast worked perfectly ... although they didn't show the putts of the last group on #18 ... the guillotine drops at the end of the TV time slot.
POS PLAYER SCORE HOLE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL 1 Ayaka Furue -13 F -4 68 67 68 203 2T Mone Inami -11 F -5 71 67 67 205 2T Momoko Ueda -11 F -4 68 69 68 205 4 Mao Saigo -10 F -6 70 70 66 206 5 Sakura Koiwai -9 F +1 65 69 73 207 6 Ai Suzuki -7 F -1 68 70 71 209 7T Minami Katsu -6 F -3 69 72 69 210 7T Seonwoo Bae -6 F -2 70 70 70 210 7T Haruka Morita -6 F -2 72 68 70 210 7T Sumika Nakasone -6 F 0 67 71 72 210 7T Nana Suganuma -6 F 0 68 70 72 210
Ayaka Furue doesn't bomb her driver ... other than that, there is nothing she can't do. FURUE > SHIBUNO at Q-Series
No wins yet for Mao Saigo, but she has 18 top-tens for the 2020-21 season.
Sakura Koiwai made two late birdies to pull out of her tail spin.

Actually watched some of this over the last two days. Furue cruised to yet another victory. Shibuno got hot on Sunday, much too late. Momoko Ueda looked pretty pissed to have squandered her chances with a +3... Gonna try to follow more often

I couldn't keep my eyes open at the very end, but I didn't miss any drama ... there was no two-shot gag by the leader at the par-5 18th hole. Furue had no bogeys in her last 51 holes and treated Iname's challenge like an old newspaper ... just crumpled it up and threw it away. Thumbs up to Toto for not featuring toilets in their commercials ... instead, they plugged kitchen faucets and massaging bath tubs.
POS PLAYER SCORE 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL PRIZE 1 Ayaka Furue -16 68 67 68 69 272 ¥33,000,000 2 Mone Inami -13 71 67 67 70 275 ¥20,079,400 3 Mao Saigo -9 70 70 66 73 279 ¥14,566,200 4T Serena Aoki -8 71 71 73 65 280 ¥9,252,466 4T Momoko Osato -8 70 71 70 69 280 ¥9,252,466 4T Momoko Ueda -8 68 69 68 75 280 ¥9,252,466 7T Hinako Shibuno -7 71 74 68 68 281 ¥5,515,400 7T Sayaka Takahashi -7 69 67 75 70 281 ¥5,515,400 7T Haruka Morita -7 72 68 70 71 281 ¥5,515,400 10T Mizuki Ooide -6 69 72 72 69 282 ¥3,883,000 10T Nanoko Hayashi -6 70 76 66 70 282 ¥3,883,000 10T Sumika Nakasone -6 67 71 72 72 282 ¥3,883,000 10T Seonwoo Bae -6 70 70 70 72 282 ¥3,883,000 10T Sakura Koiwai -6 65 69 73 75 282 ¥3,883,000
It might have been too soon to give the three big stat awards to Mone Inami for 2020-21. She now trails Furue in Mercedes points and is ahead of Furue in money by only about ¥4 million. However, Inami probably won't be caught for lowest scoring average.
Rumi Yoshiba (-2) aced #15 for ¥3,000,000
Mao Saigo did NOT ace #15
Kotone Hori (-1) ... could have won a KLPGA Best Dresser award
I assume it's back to Adidas apparel next week for Shibuno Fever ... let's see if this looper is renewed, I think this was his second straight week with her.
Ting Ting (-1)
Asako Fujimoto (-5) with Woman Bun ... I think it's a woman.
SW Bae
Yui (+1)

Google mush excerpts from a WITB article -
A big factor is a stable tee shot. She recorded a fairway keep rate of 100% twice in four days (2nd R, final R), and the driver who caught the fairway in 50 out of 56 holes (89.2%) was doing well throughout the four days. "My golf doesn't start unless I put it on the fairway," she emphasizes in "golf without a gap."
"I like (50 degrees). I have been using it as a setting all the time. I think it's easy to swing because it's been used since its debut and it's familiar to me and it's a reliable club. " His flight distance is 105 yards, and he uses this from 100 to 110 yards. He says, "I'd be happy if I could do it in 3 yard increments,"
