I'm glad Tiff Joh gave up on retirement. San Diego is a borefest x 1,000.

Sei Young in her own words on LPGA.com. Her dad sounds kind of intense, maybe Se Ri's dad would be proud. Run Toward Your Fears

I could tell Junk Yard Ko wasn’t happy about losing #1 and the Vare opportunity because of incompetent bureaucratic desk jockeys.

Commish Mollie could have scheduled some Drive On events (last year Whan did three of them) but she must be busy with her never-ending "listening tour." She didn't listen to this: People forget about the LPGA when there are big holes in the schedule and nothing to follow.
Mollie must be relieved she doesn't have to come out from under her desk today to present Jin Young's caddie with the Number One bib.

Nelly should be even more upset since she is the leader in the Vare category. They verified on the broadcast that Jin Young had planned to go to the Toto, which would have given her the 70 rounds needed for the Vare. I don't think Korda would have made the minimum even with another event...

Round 1 Great day for Sei Young (where's she been all year?). The highlight was that smooth eagle. Jin Young wasn't too solid, although she had three decent birdie chances (made one) in her short time on the broadcast. Still shot a 68, but she's going to have to go a heck of a lot lower if she wants to be a factor. Six got a little screen time, but A Lim didn't. Both shot 68s. In Gee had a pretty narrow shot at winning the Vare coming into this week, but shooting a 74 like she did today didn't help her chances. Hwaiting!

I spoke to the LPGA earlier and Nelly apparently will finish with 66 rounds assuming she makes the cut in both Florida events. The reason I was told that the LPGA didn't change the 70 round rule, in spite of almost 20% of the schedule eliminated because of covid, was that their is "built in protection" for players in case of this year's scenario. They can still qualify for the trophy with less than 70 rounds if they played in 70% of the total rounds that were played this year, or any year for that matter. So the feeling was that they just took too much time off.

Dumbo dragged over Mr. Chinstrap from Korea for a lousy +4 score? I assume she'll use him for CME ... it wouldn't surprise me if he hung around later for a high-profile Q Series player.
********
Is there any significance to the number and arrangement of hearts on her bag? I count 21 of them, which would be a lucky number in blackjack at Solaire, but why are four of them in blue?

We’d have to figure out how much Glenna played during the Spanish Flu to get the right benchmark. She did play in the 1919 US Am as a 16 year old.

She has 21 professional wins. I believe the blue hearts represent majors. The two adjacent ones are the ANA and Evian in '19. The other two are the Hite Jinro Championship, the last KLPGA major of the season.

Great bounce back rounds of minus four, by So Yeon Ryu and In Gee Chun.
Jin Young shot sixty six well, three shots behind Nelly Korda.
Not that it matters, Jin young still has to play her own game. But I don't understand why she didn't have a better pairing.
