No more Sky starting this week. I'm surprised at the exact timing of her retirement announcement ... couldn't she have gotten into maybe three more 2021 tournaments after the Nobuta? BTW, she did NOT look washed up last week with a T-20.
This one starts Friday for a field of 96 (top-60 plus ties make the cut).
Limited TV for all three days. Sunday's round should be here (Japan time) -

Sky wants to play her final event in Korea, so maybe it worked out better to leave when she did?

Other JLPGA news: Following 17 straight trunk slams on the LPGA going back to 2020, Suzuka Yamaguchi entered one of the preliminary JLPGA q-school events earlier this month, whipped a field of 81 and won by five shots (280, -8). The final stage of q-school is Nov. 2 thru 5. I think Yonex will be delighted to see the extra exposure she'll give them in 2022.
FYI, she's been working on her English -

Eight players were DNS (I'm sure Toto's ¥220,000,000 next week was unrelated ) ... as a result, bad karma is getting dished out in an old-fashioned bloodbath. Only seven players under par so far:

Good round by Yui Kawamoto minus three. She actually finished the round with birdies on fifteen and eighteen.
Kotone Hori had five bogeys, however made birdie on eighteen. That helped.

If they did the cut now, it would be +4. A legit video of the last five holes showing several leaders:
POS PLAYER SCORE HOLE TODAY 1R 2R 3R TOTAL 1T Seonwoo Bae -4 F -4 68 68 1T Jiyai Shin -4 F -4 68 68 3T Yui Kawamoto -3 F -3 69 69 3T Hinako Shibuno -3 F -3 69 69 5T Shina Kanazawa -1 F -1 71 71 5T Mao Nozawa -1 F -1 71 71 5T Serena Aoki -1 F -1 71 71 5T Miyuu Yamashita -1 F -1 71 71 5T Megumi Kido -1 *F -1 71 71 5T Erika Hara -1 F -1 71 71 5T Ayaka Furue -1 F -1 71 71
The Shinster is an absurdly good chipper
Ayaka Furue was not in the tournament, until she reeled off three birdies in the last five holes. That looks like Mr. Shimuzu on her bag, the Steve Williams Dean Herden of Japan, but no chinstrap.
Reika Usui (+3) with sis on the bag
It was Take Your Sister to Work Day for the threesome of Megumi Kido, Yuzuha Omata (+3) and Ayaka Matsumori (+5)
Eight Head (+1)
Kana Nagai (+2)
Akira Yamaji (+8)

Temperature's rising, with Shibuno Fever one off the pace. Is she peaking too soon for Q-Series? I may have to check this one out.

The cut was +6 and 33 corpses were buried afterward ... only 13 players under par.
The last few holes of Round Two ... Bae threw cold water on everyone's Fever ... setting up a barn burner on Sunday, I hope.

That final hour of coverage was basically the Shibuno-Cam and she didn't deserve it...+1 on the last four holes. Shibuno takes a shot, Shibuno walks the fairway, Shibuno highlights from earlier in the round, Shibuno highlights from last week... Mini Ting Ting hasn't been on the bag for her big sis in awhile. I wonder if she's on one of the development tours or even playing anymore. I'd hate to have to retire one of the best nicknames in golf. From this photo, I guess women have a natural immunity to Shibuno Fever.

Seon Woo Bae had a two-stroke lead going into the par-5 18th hole (485 yards) during regulation ... and LOST. I won't use the 'c' or 'g' word to explain it, but I think I figured it out:
Ping woods > Titleist woods
Someone was kind enough to record the 72nd and 1st playoff holes from a big screen TV:

Bae doesn't know how to do the Minjee Lee fake hug after losing.
Momoko Osato (+3) aced #8 ... that's NOT how you do it, you're also supposed to display the sole of the club used.
Unless the Google mush was wrong, the Mitsubishi cheapskates paid out only ¥100,000 for that ace.

Shibuno knew she was gifted a lifeline on the regulation 18th. She didn't wait for that to happen again on the playoff hole. She went out and grabbed it with an eagle.
She's overhyped in Japan but 80% of that hype is justified.

She went out and grabbed it with an eagle.
You are so right. I was wondering if Shibuno carrying her FW over the edge of the bunker on the left to a left flag was an accident. Per a Google mushed article, that WAS her plan.
The article says that hole was set to 473 on Sunday. I'm surprised that Bae was short of the dance floor after two shots both times. I saw her at Bedminster in 2017 ... she is NOT frail or scrawny, that's for sure, and has full athletic swing. I can think of only one solution: an off-season appointment in Scottsdale with "Mr. Kaboom, Baby." Come to think of it, I can't remember anyone on the JLPGA with Parsons. I'll post an update later if I find someone.
Almost forgot: that little video I posted has almost 171K views in about a half a day.
