A field of 56 will play under the lights Oct. 27 thru 29. The first alternate is Harang Lee. They had eleven invitee spots and filled nine so far:

The 10th invitee was selected, Alison Muirhead (who?) ... she represents Jumeirah Golf Estates ... if that's the reason, maybe they can fill the last spot with Rory McIlroy for old-time sakes.

The final invitee is Kristyna Napoleaova (huh?) ... she got in because Dubai has been her off-season home for five years.
*******
Speaking of Team Dubai, one of the invitees is Chiara Noja, who is #156 on WAGR. Her profile on WAGR says she was born in Germany, raised in the UK and lives in Dubai. I assume her old man is a globe-trotting big shot. This six-foot giraffe announced that she turning pro this week ... even though she is age 15 ... WTH?! Seon Hwa Lee has her beat ... 14.
*******
It's a shotgun start for 19 groups beginning Wednesday at 4 PM local time (Dubai is eight hours ahead of NYC). Sunset in Dubai is not until about 5:40 PM.
*********
Various players practicing night golf ... I noticed Fassi hitting FW from the tee ... the course is only 6274 yards.

GolfChannel will carry this LIVE on Wed. thru Fri. at 10:00 AM thru 1:00 PM EST. They'll have replays later each day starting at 11 PM EST.
This channel in Korea will also carry it ... although I just tried it and it doesn't work:

The golf course looks terrific at night ... I assume the light towers are permanent fixtures, correct? Well, good for Dubai ... I paid for them ... I'm still paying for them every time I go to the gas station. You can here a constant rushing of cars, but it shouldn't be distracting. The drivers there have too much class to blast their horns at the top of someone's backswing ... which sometimes happens on Route 9 outside the fence along the par-3 17th tee at the Seaview Bay course.
*****
They said this is the first time Ariya 51 and Atthaya are playing in the same group of a tournament. Is that correct?
*****
L.A. Pace, now full-time on the LET, is tied for first ... they said she didn't like playing in the U.S. ... she didn't like playing in Brazil, either.
******
A Korean article says she drives it 280-290. Uh huh ... the teen wunderkind is -1 thru 11 holes.

I think she didn't like playing in the U.S. in 2019 when she got bad press for trying to game the AON Risk/Reward Challenge (which she led at that point) by withdrawing from a tournament after blowing up the Risk/Reward hole. Her "injury" was miraculously healed the next week.

I didn't watch every minute of this, but it seems there was some unknown guy near an open mic who uttered a naughty word or two ... they'll probably mute it on the replay tonight.
Pelican still has open invitee spots and Fassi should get one of them ... and this time, she'll deserve it. Speaking of Pelican, there must have been a couple of dropouts, because J. Song and Tiff Chan are in the field now. Benyapa N., Duncan and Darquea are the first three reserves ... Fassi is #4, but she is playing a lot better than these three lately.
You don't need a shot tracer to follow the ball in the air here, but it would be nice if they had Trackman or equivalent set up. The LET stats say Atthaya (70, -2) drives it about 267, but who can tell if she did that here? But, the swing looks good and she looks good ... no way will she screw up the LPGA Q-series.

The tee times are regrouped by score so the leading group gets to tee off at #1 and finish at #18 ... Fassi, Pace and Cowan starting their day:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CVkl9PHAL35 Fassi looks good hitting that 3W, but did she bring her driver this week? She was miles ahead of everyone on the par-5 10th hole (478 yards) ... which she followed with a bad iron into the far-right bunker, producing a two-handed axe chop to the turf. Deftly carried her sand shot at least 20 yards in the air and saved par. But, she dropped her first shot of the event at #11, now tied with three others at -9. Life is good for her looper Ivan these days ... no need for $1 hamburgers all the time ... although McDonald's is about 1/4 mile NW of the course (open 8 AM thru 3 AM).
********
Lydia Hall is pushing her own bag.
********
I'm guessing the people walking outside the ropes are spectators ... ticket probably aren't required since I don't see a link on the LET website for them ... the authorities in Dubai are less paranoid than the Saudi sports washers.
********
Looking at Yahoo Maps ... there is a TopGolf next to this place. I think Starbucks is on the course.
********
They just had an ad with Cam McCormack plugging a practice putting mat platform starting at $13,900.
********
Just confirmed that Fassi has the driver this week ... carried it an estimated 265 to the front edge of the green on the par-4 12th.

DID YOU SEE THAT? Or should I say, did you not see that? I watched some of the replay last night. I decided that before I lay my head down upon my bed, I would watch Fassi finish with eagle. They did not show one shot of hers on that hole! They showed playing partner Mo Jutanugarn's 2nd, 3rd and birdie putt but only a hug from Fassi. Was that true on the live broadcast?
What utter indifference by the director. A fireable offense.

They briefly showed one of the invitees, Alison Muirhead, who was born in South Africa, plays under the Scotland flag, and lives in Dubai. I assume she lives with her family and when you're #573 on Rolex, what other choice would you have? What is the cost of living over there?

I won't spoil the ending if you didn't see it earlier today, which was quite good ... you only need to watch the last hour of the GC replay at 1 AM EST on Saturday.

Won't spoil it either: Just want to say that I don't usually have too much interest in LET events as that tour is inferior to the 3 other tours we follow, but, this one was kinda fun. The field was pretty strong with the Jutanugarn's Pajaree, Thitakul, etc. Interesting playing at night..not a big fan of shotgun starts because the winner might be finishing on a hole other than 18. As Phil said..interesting ending..worth taping last hour.

What's the purpose of some players finishing up on the 17th hole?

What's the purpose of some players finishing up on the 17th hole?
The groups were sent out shotgun-style each day, so whoever finished on the 12th hole must have started the day on the 13th, and so forth. I assume they didn't want the players going past 9 PM, although the course is open to midnight for the public and/or members. I think the concept made good TV because nobody was sitting around in the clubhouse waiting to see if their score would be topped or not by someone still on the course.
