A little sad that "Inspiration" will not live on. Believe me I tried to make "the Inspiration" the official shorthand for the tournament but everyone just called it "the ANA". Which was probably better for ANA.
"The Chevron" is horrible IMO. For a major championship at least. (Otherwise this name could fit perfectly into the LPGA's Gas Station Swing.) At least with the WBO, you can just call it the WBO and not have to say "The Weetabix" or whatever.
Yet another sign IMO that the USLPGA is circling the drain.
edit: Holy shit, I just read on to discover that the 2022 Chevron Inspiration (that's what I'm calling it I don't care) will take place in Rancho Mirage for one last time and thereafter will be played in Houston. Pretty big news! in theory at least.
Perhaps the establishment grew tired of being associated with and having to deal with that big "The Dinah" party that ran concurrently with the tournament.

So long, Dinah. The last living vestige of your legacy is dead. Make no mistake. This is not an "evolution" of the tournament. It's a replacement. New name, new location...half a continent away. No more players taking selfies with your statue. No more awkward "manufactured moments" (as Terry Gannon once called them) diving into Poppy's Pond. No more great articles by Larry Bohannan of the Desert Sun. You're over, done, forgotten. RIP, Dinah. www.golfchannel.com/news/lpgas-first-major-undergo-sweeping-changes-new-dates-venue-starting-2023

Also the new date means that the ANWA has won the standoff. I don't think this is speculation as news reports specifically cite NBC coverage as a factor in the change.

When it moves to Houston, will the putts still roll toward "Indio?"
If not, it's the end of the best drinking game on tour.

Houston is a great city and the players, especially the Koreans, love Texas. Californians never supported this sham major. I doubt Dinah cares. She's probably frolicking with Burt & hoping they melt down that frightful statue on 18.

If they are still alive, those two freaks at Evian are next. Commissioner It will make sure to flush them down the toilet in a year or two.

Greater Houston... Which course is most likely going to host? I don't know all the courses in the Houston area.

How do you compete against NBC, Augusta National's money, prestige, and media might?
Whether we like it or not, ANWA is insanely important to all the girls AND COACHES in America!! It's a dream invitation to get whether anyone outside America cares or not.

Easier to move the whole event than to say they shouldn’t make the winner jump into a pool.

Now for the really important question: Where and when will the Kor-Am pro-am be played after the ANA dies? This needs to be decided soon since RLB is already half-booked solid for 2023.
The big "L" pool party will continue as if nothing changed ... not surprising as they stopped caring about women's golf years ago:

None of these recent splashy purse increases feel authentic. Seems more like corporations doing performative subsidies. Because at the same time it appears that the US golf-watching public's interest in women's golf is dropping off a cliff. I know I have generally a paranoid outlook but I feel like these corporations are just trying to pander to feminism and bask in the glow of the flattering press releases.

So much for 'the jump in the pond is tradition'. So much for 'the ANA is the Ladies Masters'. Imagine the men's Masters moving out of Augusta if Tesla waved $30 million around. Yeah, would never happen.
So now is the perfect time to de-Majorize this event once and for all. And the same with Evian. Then the tour can do what they should have done years ago: create an Asian Major. The time is now!!!

An Asian major is long overdue - Korea has some great courses that would be a real test. And also overdue is to give up on US network TV - global streaming is the way to go for this international tour. Seems like half the sponsors for LPGA are foreign companies anyway. Haha, maybe KLPGA has to expand, start cannibalizing lpga events. Bet they could run a better tour.

Samaan announced the future of the LPGA yesterday. A major moves from poor old California to God's Country. And a rinky dink airline is replaced by one of the largest corporations in the world. No way this tournament is better without 20,000 lesbians.
