A flim flam man like Mike Whan had no idea what to do with JYK. Let's see if this egghead from Princeton has a clue.

TonyJ, feel free to add, answer or correct anything I say here ...
******
So, the first Founders Cup in NJ is in the books and attending it on Friday was really .... weird.
Who knew you could go to a golf course and get an education on single and double-engine private airplanes?
Who knew the bugs you usually encounter at the Seaview in June did NOT die off by October, but instead moved north to Essex County for the fall?
Who knew that if you strictly followed the ropes, you would be required to walk hundreds of yards to get from the 9th green to the adjacent 1st tee? *
********
Mountain Ridge CC is sure named correctly ... the clubhouse is on top of a mountain while the golf holes fall down the side of it and into a couple of flat areas at different levels. Holes 1, 9 and 18 are quite nice and could double as bunny ski runs in January. No. 10 is also downhill, but it's nothing special. A couple of other neat holes are the par-5 15th (deep valley of bunkers and junk cutting across the fairway) and the par-3 16th that requires a steeply uphill and accurate tee ball.
The fog was unbelievable. I remember fog once at the Seaview a few years ago, but the delay was only one hour, not two and a half. I wonder if it was a fluke or if it happens a lot at MRCC.
When the shuttle bus entered the club driveway, there was a sign at the entrance saying 'No Walk-up Traffic'. Does that mean anyone living one block from the course would have to drive 10+ minutes to the shuttle area first?!
Funny, it seemed like the bugs were worse INSIDE the ropes ... I don't know why ... is there something about flying over lower cut grass that they like? Are the players wearing perfume they like? Jtibs was constantly waving her hand at them, including once slapping her own face!
MRCC is in a congested area and the event had a controlled feel to it ... in comparison, South Jersey is not wall-to-wall people and Shoprite/Acer is so laid back and you can get closer to the players at the practice facilities and on the course. Obviously, the difference between a private club and a resort is a significant factor. Sure, it's a longer drive for me to the AC area, but Cognizant forced me to take Rte. 280 east to the GSP south on a Friday night around 7 PM ... paid $1.25 so I could drive 10 MPH for the first 3-4 miles, what a nightmare (stupid me, I should have killed 30+ minutes first).
Have there been any announcements on whether or not this course will be used again in future years and at what time of the year?
I'm totally selfish ... if Salmon has any juice left from her prior job, she'll get this thing moved to TPC Jasna Polana ... Princeton's golf teams have privileges to use the practice facilities there, which include a 350-yard range, short game area and two practice greens. Ha ha, I could attend or volunteer and get home at a decent hour every night. I saw the PGA geezers play there once or twice about twenty years ago.
* I refused ... first time I went under the rope and through the player exit, second time walked up and through a private booze grandstand to the player exit.

Does that mean anyone living one block from the course would have to drive 10+ minutes to the shuttle area first?! I think that must mean "No Drop-off Traffic," so Ubers, Lyfts and taxis (and wives dropping off their husbands ) don't crowd the front gate. Just a poorly worded sign.

I really don't know if any arrangements existed for UBER-type services. As I came in on the bus, I noticed a cop across the street from the club, probably there to enforce a ban on pedestrians. There's only one simple two-lane driveway with no sidewalk into this place ... I'm guessing they didn't want buses weaving around any foot traffic.

A satellite view of the club at mapquest.com shows an airplane shadow over the 17th fairway.

Last couple of weeks really rekindled my flame for Jin Young. She is in a class of her own. The true queen. Nelly appears to be shuffling aside to make way.
