My field rating for this tournament is a pretty solid 66% (up from 64% last year). Eleven of the top 14 players from this week's Rolex Rankings will be in attendance.
Top players skipping this week's event include: Nelly Korda Hyo Jo Kim Jessica Korda Hannah Green Lizette Salas Shanhan Feng Charley Hull Yu Liu Inbee Park Georgia Hall Amy Olson Hee Young Park Leona Maguire
Two long time Rolex Rankings players dropped out of the top 100 this week. Those players are Chella Choi and Eun-Hee Ji. Ga Young Lee and Ji Hyun Oh, also fell out of the top 100. Those four players will no longer be part of my field ratings.
They are being replaced with: Su Oh, Perrine Delacour, Momoko Osato, and Mi Jeong Jeon

Monday qualifier Babe Liu, best-known for being Dumbo's buddy at Dr. Won Park's robot factory, is going down the drain, 75 (+4). The caddie list says Minami Levonowich is on her bag ... I think she is a half-U.S., half-Japanese pro who has flunked out of JLPGA q-school at least once.
**********
MHL opened with 71 (E) ... I'll take it. That doesn't look like the Autopower shaft in her driver anymore. Per the caddy list, "Harris" is looping for her.

Great rounds by A Lim Kim, -8 six birdies, an Eagle and Eun Hee Ji, -8 with eight birdies.
Also really good rounds -5, Haeji Kang, In Gee Chun and Chella Choi-Jenny Shin - 4.
Jin Young Ko 18/18 greens but thirty three putts -3. Ditto: Jeongeun Lee6 17/18 greens thirty four putts -2. If they hit the same number of greens the second round they will surely move up.
So Yeon Ryu -2, went the other way, ten of eighteen greens twenty six putts. Had it to minus four through eleven holes, but made bogey on twelve and thirteen.

Round 1: Looks like we are back to the birdie fest this week. At least some of the Sisters took advantage! Great opening round 8 under 63s by Eun Hee Ji and A Lim Kim. I would especially love to see A Lim make some noise this week. Nice 66 by In Gee, three back at the moment. Jin Young had a 68, so she'll have to make a lot more birdies to be a factor. Six, So Yeon and Sung Hyun shot 69s and now have to worry about the cut! Sigh... Hwaiting! Article: In Gee Fills Month Off with Lots of Golf

I am surprised that they are shooting so many low scores. At par seventy one that isn't an easy golf course. Unless they did the Beth Ann formula and moved the Tees up. I didn't see the Broadcast .

Ouch! Mirim Lee just made a quad bogey on a par 5 and is in last place. She is just 2/11 GIR. I hope she's not injured...
Meanwhile, Six has birdied every other hole and has moved onto the leaderboard for the moment. Hwaiting!

So Yeon pointing left or right after hitting a shot is how her game has gone lately. She does hit some good shots, so her game is fixable. First thing is to slow her hip turn down, it's too fast.

Jordan Spieth was able to escape the Altus brainwashing facility, take a 15 minute lesson from Butch and turn back into an elite player. Maybe SYR needs to do the same. I wish she'd stayed on the West Coast.

It looks like MHL (-1) will crawl under the fence and make it to Sunday. She is one of twenty-one players at T-64 ... I don't think there aren't enough players still out there who can realistically climb up to -2. Btw, Sung Hung (-1) has five bogeys in her last nine holes with one hole remaining.
There's a chance MHL will get grouped with BadA$$ (-1) tomorrow ... those two probably haven't played together in a long time.

Great round by Jeongeun Lee6, hit 18/18 greens, also had more support from her putter. I guess that the Golf Channel couldn't find her.
Good follow of a great round of minus eight, with a good round by Eun-Hee Ji. Saw her once, I guess the Golf Channel has their favorites to show.
Jin Young Ko also made more putts to go with her great ball striking. She has an outside chance to get the win.
A Lim Kim didn't improve on her great first round. The good news is she didn't go backwards either.
So Yeon Ryu just make too many bogeys. It would help a lot if she would hit more than eleven greens. This is the second round that she got to minus four and had two late bogeys.

The EMT (Enchanted Malaysian Troublemaker) got it to -3 before getting a late bogey and finishing at -2 to go into Sunday. The Malaysian Golf Nazis must have threatened the Getty photographer with an investigation if he took even one photo of Kelly, because he didn't. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUQ-rCXL3AR

Round 2 Six has hit 35/36 greens so far this week (!). Today her putting finally took advantage, and she shot a great 63 to move to within 2. I hope she has Minjee in her sites for a little payback! Hopefully Nasa is done making aces (she's had two so far this week!). Can Eun Hee Ji become the oldest Korean to ever win on tour? Odds are against it, but she's doing great so far, and she's just 1 back. Jin Young had a tidy 66, but made a bogey, her first in several rounds. She's still not quite got the measure of the greens, but she's just four back. She'll need a fantastic score to win, but I think she has one in her. In Gee never got going today, alas, but she still has a very outside chance if she goes ultra low. And don't forget A Lim! She's just four back herself. With her length, she might get another low one tomorrow... Sisters hwaiting!
