All I got to say if Jin Young Ko want to be number one again and stay there. She has to do a lot better than no birdies and one bogey on the back nine.
Inbee Park didn't do much better with one birdie and one bogey.
So don't complain about the course setup.(which I think was too easy) It's just another time that the top Korean Golfers didn't get the job done.
At least So Yeon Ryu who was four over the first seven holes. Showed a lot of heart again to bounce back with a four under finish after that. By the way she made Eagle on par five eighteen. An easy par five that the number two and three Ranked Golfers didn't make birdie on.

Round 3 Well, that was painful. It was just one of those days where every bad break and dumb mistake cost Inbee and Jin Young. OK, you ain't gonna shoot a 65 every round, no matter how easy the course is. They were both due an off-round. But Jin Young had converted 6 of 7 previous times when she had the lead going into the final round. And she didn't need to be fantastic, just take advantage of her chances and not make any stupid mistakes. It felt like, despite the runs from the peanut gallery, that they had things well under control most of the day, especially Jin Young. The first time I got a little worried was when Jin Young hit a perfectly good birdie putt and it did a horseshoe and lipped out. The second that happened I had a dreadful feeling that she would end up losing by one shot. Soon after that she made a needless mistake on the late par 3. All she needed to do was hit the tee shot to the right side of the green, but she got greedy, went towards the pin and ended up in the bunker. She was not able to get it up and down after missing a five footer. That allowed Boutier to get the lead for the first time all week. I think it rattled JYK, because she didn't hit a good approach shot on 17 or 18. She still reached the green in two and just needed a two putt from about forty feet. And she didn't make it. Inbee also missed a ~five foot birdie try. If you were to ask me what is likely to happen if the two best Sisters (and probably two best putters) both have a chance to get into a playoff with short birdie putts, I would say that the least likely thing is that they would both miss. But it shouldn't have even come down to that; they should have never been below 14 under in the first place. This was not a course where they could get away with lackluster play, because there were too many players capable of going low and making them pay. Still, they almost got away with it: only one player could get to 14 under, but that was all it took. At least they are contending, which is more than was happening earlier in the year. But even in this year of constant disappointment, this one stings. Let's hope it gets JYK a bit steamed and she is ready to administer a good ol' fashioned butt kicking next week. Hwaiting!

Yea I really think Jin Young made only minor mistakes and got very unlucky at some critical points. She literally lost this by inches over a few holes. I think it's also worth noting that 3 round birdie fests aren't her speciality. She did good. I bet 8-9 times out of 10 she would have gotten the win playing the same. One reason she does so well is that she plays the odds. This result is only shocking because of how excellent she is at converting final round leads.
I'm ok with saving up a bit of luck for when she faces Nelly again this week to defend her title. Would be a more meaningful win.

Jin Young posted on IG story reassuring everyone that she's okay after yesterday. But that actually worries me. Why would she feel the need to say something if she wasn't bothered. She certainly looked miffed, and glared at that missed putt on 18 for a long time. Never seen her so upset. I mean that is perfectly okay, just surprised I guess. She is the queen of cool out there.

Don't get me wrong, I am not really criticizing Jin Young Ko. It is just that she is the best Golfer on Tour by a lot. So for her not being Ranked No.1 is kind of a downer.
It just that Jeongeun Lee6 also lost a Tournament that she should have won.
Yes I know that So Yeon made Eagle from the bunker, I saw it. Just saying then making a birdie should have been a piece of cake.

Jeongeun Lee6 put on a happy face after she lost that Tournament. Then she played poorly the next Tournament. I don't think that will happen to Jin Young, she is mentally strong. I followed her six rounds her first year, when she missed a lot of short putts. It didn't affect the rest of her game because she would hit it stiff the next hole.

I don't know if anyone here has played that course, I have many times and the greens on both the bay and the pines will drive you nuts. Missing short putts there is par for the course

It really did feel like a decent round, just not as powerful as we've gotten used to. It's frustrating when she or Inbee misses those short ones, but even they have those moments from time to time. They just came at the wrong time. And no one had shot better than 65 in the first two rounds, but at least three players shot 64 or better on Sunday. And one of them was the eventual winner. So as I said, a lot of little factors that cost them the win. They'll get 'em next time!!

She, Six, So Yeon and In Gee have all posted stuff like that from time to time. They are intense women putting it all on the line week after week. I don't think we really know how much pressure they are under. But they are fighters, they'll bounce back. We'll know we're in trouble if Jin Young takes her account offline like Six has done in the past...

I watched a different tournament. It looked to me like the winner won the tournament.

Fair enough, the losers lost the tournament.

Well, touche, but you all are certainly welcome to write up an analysis of Boutier's play if you want! It's hardly against the rules around here! But I'm interested in following the Koreans - as the name of this forum suggests - and to me the storyline follows them, win or lose. I wish it had been more 'win' than 'lose' this year, but ya play the cards yer dealt.
