Round 1 Jin Young played really well all day. The first three holes, she barely missed two birdies, then for some reason three putted from about 20 feet. +1 was about the worst score she could have had. But she turned it on after that. Had two eagle putts that barely missed, hit most of her fairways and greens, and just looked in total control. Looking forward to seeing if she can keep it up! Great day for Inbee and So Yeon. Especially nice to see So Yeon climb out of the depths with some great golf. Not so great day for In Gee, but I feel like she can turn it around tomorrow and easily make the cut. Hwaiting!

Returned home around 9:45 PM ... and a few samplers from the forthcoming reports:
* Christina Kim (who dropped by the Galloway Shoprite Wed. night) ... saw her drives at #9 on Thursday and Friday ... sorry to all you X-tina fans out there, but she is FINISHED!
* Was there a Fassi-cam on Friday's broadcast? In case it wasn't mentioned, two fanboys following her at #9 informed me that she was NOT carrying a driver this week.
* The Yangster was carrying a set of mystery irons. Inside the cavity were the words 'Proto forged 005' ... a strip of lead tape covered over the area that normally has the brand name. I haven't researched this yet, but the font used for the '005' part reminds me of Onoff gear ... a plausible guess since she used to game Fourteen Golf gear, which is owned by the same company, Globeride.
* There were a few last-minute changes to made to the Thursday pro-am tee sheets I printed out Tuesday night. I was waiting at the par-5 18th tee on the Seaview Pines course for Alexis Belton, who has competed in Long Drive, but I got the EMP instead ... I guess the bucket hat from the FB interview is now bolted to her head.
* I was pleasantly surprised when I returned home to see the LPGA online scoreboard showing MHL with an Even score ... I guess there was an earlier mistake because she was +1 on the outdoor scoreboard when she finished up at #9. The LPGA website says "Harry ewing" is on her bag this week. After watching her iron approach go over the green at #6 and her iron approach come up short at #8, I'm going to assume that he is on probation.
* Saw Muni's last ten holes, which included eagles on #9 and #18. This is the 5th tournament where I've followed her, but who's counting? Her group had a time issue and was followed by an official in a cart for a few holes ... nothing came of it, but the guy showed up when Muni's group was on the 12th green and I could see the next group ahead walking about 150 yards down the 14th fairway. * Never saw Delacour play in person before until today ... I was impressed. FYI, there was an odd incident at #7. After hitting out of the green-side bunker, she gave the sand two hard whacks with the toe end of her sand wedge. I think it was less out of anger and more out of astonishment ... this bunker is more like the ones at the public courses where I live - compacted dirt!

Nice headline on LPGA.com today: WORLD’S GREATEST PUTTER MAKES EARLY RUN AT SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC
GALLOWAY, N.J. | Those of us who have watched have always believed it to be true. Anytime there’s a 19-hole discussion of the best putters in the world, names like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw and Bobby Locke come up. Among younger active players, talk always turns to Jordan Spieth with honorable mentions given to Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen and, because people’s best-of memories only go back a year or so, Jon Rahm. What you won’t hear unless you have an LPGA Tour fan in the discussion is the name Inbee Park. It’s an egregious oversight. Because Park, the youngest person ever to earn a spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame, has been the best putter in the world for the better part of a decade.

Magnificent Jin Young. Maybe I do need to drive down and attend the final round. Inbee, I've already seen her win a major in person. Jin Young is a future hall of famer and potentially the greatest Seoul Sister of all time. Probably I'll just wait til next week but this would be a worthy trip.

The first thing that is talked about is how great a putter that she is. She and all the names mentioned above were or are great players as well. However some great putters, aren't great players because a lot of those made putts are to save par. So I wish that she will be given credit first for being a great player that is also one of the best putters. It is marvelous of how well she go about playing the game of golf.

Put Muni and and Popov in the TV booth now and we'd be set for decades.

Speaking of Inbee Park she had a great round, with seven birdies one bogey. She matched Jin Young Ko at minus eleven who had six birdie no bogeys.
So Yeon round started out so promising with birdies on two of the first three holes. On number four she missed a five foot birdie by not hitting it hard enough. The next hole she hit the short putt a little too hard and it lipped out. Her putter went cold because she had three other makeable birdies through ten holes. Her ball striking looks good so she has a chance for a really good Tournament.
The good Sei Young Kim showed up with eight birdies two bogeys.
Sung Hyun Park also had eight birdies with three bogeys.

I'm curious to know who it was that neglected to include Inbee amount the world's best putters. If the fate of the world depended upon any one person to make a 12-foot putt, that person would be Inbee. Boy, did she demonstrate that today.

An all women broadcast is cool and is real progress in golf. Whoever is broadcasting needs the tools to tell us what’s happening. Right now that’s shot data.
Foltzy was there Friday acting as Stupples' golf cart chauffeur. Oops, did I ruin the narrative?

Corporations eat this stuff up. Beats the alternative.

Round 2 It's nice to see Jin Young and Inbee both playing up to what they are capable of! Fantastic rounds for both of them. Inbee was brilliant on the greens. Sei Young was also on a tear early, although she ended up crashing to Earth. It was especially nice to see So Yeon having a decent week. The only bummer was In Gee. She got to 4 under, including an eagle holeout, and then somehow had an 8 on one of the par 5s and wound up missing the cut on the number. I sure hope both Inbee and Jin Young bring it Sunday and we are treated to a rare battle by two of the best golfers of the last five years. Hwaiting!

Corporations eat this stuff up. Beats the alternative. Speaking of corporations, it will be interesting to see if this is a one-off/stunt or the start of a regular thing. The next one should be a major. With KPMG/PGA holding an annual "Women's Leadership Summit" at their event, they should insist on it. They're all doing fine, but Cara tends to talk a mile a minute. Maybe she's auditioning to be the next FedEx spokesman.
