Why is this not a major? What makes a major a major? Also, I posted only the Jade Palace results since 2017. I don't know when the event started.

The KLPGA decides what is a Major. The history is that the two original Majors were the KLPGA Championship and the Korea Women's Open. That was the way it was until about 2007 or so, when the Hite Cup became the third Major. A year or so later (I think it was 2009) they added the KB Star Championship. After the Evian became a fifth Major, the KLPGA decided to add a 5th, too. That Major: the Hanwha! So yes, this week's event is actually a Major unless they decided to decertify it this year and I didn't hear .

The Hana Financial Group that used to be Co-Sponsored with the LPGA. I don't think it is a Major yet.
edit: Now that I think about it I knew it was a Major. Because I thought that Jin Young and Hyo Joo skipped the LPGA Major to play the KLPGA Major. So I guess my brain went to sleep when I called it a Non-Major.

The 21st Hite Championship this year doesn't have the big purse. Is the Hana Group event the week before trying to take the "major" label away from Hite with it's massive purse? Or am I making some error?

The 'preview' for this event from KLPGA is here. klpga.co.kr/web/media/newsDetail.do?kind=20&sn=84736 Google Translate does a decent job on it. I found the section on the rough and importance of hitting the fairway really good. I hope the champion isn't like 20-under. 7-under would be good.

If Park Min Ji gets her 7th of the year here (화이팅!), she'll break SHP's single season KLPGA money record. sports.news.naver.com/news?oid=016&aid=0001878538This NAVER article is saying the "MZ (Minji) generation" is being inspired to get wins, citing So Mi and Hee Cheong as saying they were motivated by Min Ji's achievements this year. Korean press seem to love to coin terms like these...

Korean press seem to love to coin terms like these... Nonsense to me. Min Ji is going to be near the top of nearly every event for the rest of the year and will absolutely break the record before the end of the 2021 tour. She could miss the cut Friday evening and still go on to break the money record. I am fully convinced she breaks the record no matter what. The only honest question in my opinion is by how much does she break the record.

haha, strange response, not sure which part of what I wrote you think is "nonsense" - all I said was that if she wins this week, she'll make enough to break the record. It wasn't a speculation about whether or not she will break the record at some point this season.

Maybe she wins this week. She likely has a better chance considering her play. I was responding more to the article and less to you.

I guess the MZ generation label might be a bit ridiculous, especially if you favour, say, Park Hyun Kyung, for instance, hehe...
