What's up with Shibuno, seems like she hasn't had much success since winning this thing back in 2019. Neither on her few appearances on LPGA nor in JLPGA.

Many hard asses have won at Carnoustie in the past. A real or imaginary Korean needs to dig deep this week.

My field rating for this tournament is a very solid 75% (up from 64% last year). This is the strongest field since the KPMG Championship. My breakdown is 79% from the LPGA Priority List and 71% from the Rolex Rankings.
Key players not teeing it up this week include: Jin Young Ko Hyo-Joo Kim Shanshan Feng Mirim Lee Wei-Ling Hsu Hee Young Park A Lim Kim
Brittany Lincicome and So Young Lee have dropped out of the top 100 of the Rolex Rankings and are no longer part of my field rating. They have been replaced by Ryann O'Toole and Esther Henseleit.

I have to admit, I'm not looking forward to another 20 under par birdie fest. They can set this course up hard, but we know they won't.
It really feels like the Sisters are going 0 for 5 in Majors this year. Hope I'm wrong, but I have a pretty strong hunch...

Some former Korean winners. Three of the four are among the winningest of all Koreans. So it's almost always the biggest stars who get this title. Se Ri beat Mi Hyun Kim in 2001, the first year it was a Major Jeong Jang was brilliant in 2005. She is the ony "lesser" Korean star who won this one; this was one of just two career wins. Inbee Park completed her career grand slam here in 2015. She edged Jin Young Ko to do it. See what I mean by big stars? The article didn't mention 11-time winner Jiyai Shin, who claimed the title twice, in 2008 and 2012. Her 2012 win came in the most ridiculously hard conditions I have ever seen; it was practically snowing!

I liked Se Ri, but I was a bigger fan of Mi Hyun Kim. So I wasn't happy about Mi Hyun not getting the Major win. Unknown at the time that not winning a Major would be the only blemish on her great Career.

It's a shame Hyo Joo Kim is not playing this week ... she's missing out on being called "HoJo Kim" again by the real starter.
