It's time again for the dreamers and wannabes to fill up the LPGA cash register, which starts with Stage One in the blast furnace Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert on Aug. 19 thru 22. The deadline for applying is today at 5 PM EST. I don't know when the player list will get posted ... the only names I've seen that have been confirmed by the media are Gina Kim and Team Pano. Also, any foreign player in the top-75 world rankings posted later today can go straight to Stage Three in December.

Player registration began today (Sunday, 8/15/2021), but there's no tentative field list posted on the LPGA website, and there are no online articles from Golfweek, GolfChannel or Golf.com. This is in Larry Bohanon's backyard, but he says nothing about it in his 8/14 article on the LPGA in the Desert Sun newspaper.
Drive On? DRIVE OFF.
Tomorrow is the first of three complimentary practice days available to the players ... and free use of Titleist range balls all week ... have fun, ladies, Monday will get up to only 109 F.

Veronica Filbert was a formal USC Golf teammate with Belen Mozo. Veronica is not giving up and going to give it another try' She joined the Symetra Tour about ten years ago with not much success to date. She has made only about one hundred nine thousand dollars in her ten year Career. I believe that she has limited status on the Symetra Tour this year. However I see nothing wrong with following her dream, good luck. Also notables Virginia Elena Carter (Duke), Amelia Garvey (USC) also in the field. https://www.instagram.com/p/CE0UckxlfM5 Veronica Symetra Tour

She was a rookie on the LPGA Tour in 2012. She finished 4th at the Walmart Championship in Arkansas that year after having the lead the first two rounds. I was at the following tournament the next day and had a chance to interview her. I remember her telling me that "this is only the beginning." Unfortunatly, she struggled the rest of the year and the whole 2013 season, barely making a cut. I believe she won on the Symetra Tour in 2015, but we haven't really heard from her since. She was an "older" rookie in 2012, I believe she was 27. That would make her 36 now. Apparently she is still chasing her dream. But as you said there is nothing wrong with her still following your dream.

I'll simplify this ... the top-95 plus ties advance to Stage Two.
*******
Samantha Richdale ... I remember her glossy red/black/white maple leaf bag w/ personalized logo at the Galloway pro-am. Chasing the dream?! More like banging your head against the wall ... 12-for-12 in Symetra trunk slams this year. Is it too late to put that chemistry degree (2004) to good use?
*********
Sharmila ... well, maybe she can win the Twitter contest again for getting into the Shoprite/Acer ... has over 435K followers in the Twit-osphere.
*********
Yu-Sang Hou ... the older Hou playing as an am, will be 5th year senior at Arizona, shot 71.72 during eight tournaments in 2021.
*********
Brooke Matthews ... showed me a lot of game at Westchester CC ... playing as an am, will be redshirt senior at Arkansas this fall ... made the cut at the 2020 Walmart, I assume she'll be invited again next month.
*********
V.E. Carta ... looked good on the range at Rolling Green GC in 2016 ... I took her pic at 2017 USWO ... career bookworm who went to Cambridge after Duke ... bombed out of the Ladies Italian Open in her pro debut three months ago ... gaming PXG.
*********
Genevieve Ling & Chieh Jessica Peng ... remember these two? They won the Big Break ripoff in Korea, entitling them to play a few KLPGA events. Peng is the better player, went to Mississippi State.
*********
Mariel Galdiano ... saw her in practice round with The ECP at Lancaster in 2015, followed by her 22-hole match against Muni at Rolling Green in 2016 ... excellent junior player, but did NOT set the world on fire at UCLA.
*********
Doey Choi ... remember her? She got into a couple of LPGA event Down Under as a junior a few years ago.

Her younger sister, Yu-Chiang Hou AKA Vivian Hou, is a #390 Rolex ranked player. She'll go directly to Stage II.

Belen Mozo said in an interview how she encouraged her and the teammates to eat Healthy.

Naomi Ko ... 67 on the Pete Dye course. I'll have to call her The Old New Ko if these keeps up. I don't know if she is on IG ... hasn't touched Twitter in six months:

Golfweek reported that Linn Grant, Maja Stark and Beatrice Wallin will appear in Stage Two of LPGA q-school. It's from an article mostly about Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who recently made her Symetra Tour pro debut with a 4th-place finish worth almost $10K ... she will also appear at Stage Two.
***********
Tess Hackworthy ... NOT the ideal name for a golfer.

I wish I had seen more of Alyaa two weeks ago ... she blew a match she could have won more than once!
You "forgot" K. Muzi, who averaged 75+ as a junior ... shot 75 in her first round as an amateur. She might have trouble getting off the bench as a senior. One of my old stories: I saw EJ Seong outdrive her by 70 yards at Ridgewood in 2016 (in fairness, that could have happened to a lot of players back then).
Now for some good news for you: I didn't realize until I got home from Westchester CC that Cyndi Kou is an incoming freshman at USC. She might be the only player that makes a big Trojans contribution in 2021-22. She didn't look satisfied with the nine holes I watched, but she still managed to shoot par ... and par was an excellent score during the medal qualifying. She had an independent look to her ... wasn't wearing the colors of USC ... I didn't see parents or anyone else hanging around and she pushed her own bag ... born in China, but schooled at the IMG Academy ... multi-winner at AJGA level ... probably programmed for the LPGA from the crib.

I never heard of Hyo Joon Jang before ... playing as an amateur, opened 68-69. I looked her up and found numerous pics of her holding trophies. She's from the ROK, but attends a golf boarding school in South Carolina ... I'm not sure if this is a real academic school. Her high school class is 2022 ... currently #134 on WAGR ... finished 57th in Symetra event in late May. I have not come across any hints that college is in her future.
