While I totally disagree with invites to majors, gotta give Fassi props for bringing some game! Cant blame her for accepting, but she surely knows what we're thinking. A lot of pressure. Always love to see players rise to the occasion.
This shutterbug had no choice ... focus on the leader, not the also-ran.
The caddie list was posted. MHL has Mark Wellington ... I assume that's a misspelling for Mark Wallington. These caddie lists are a bit haphazard. They can't even settle on the name of Amy Olson's regular loop ... they keep alternating between Taneka Sandiford and Taneka Mackey. The Pink One has Holly Clyburn and Sarah Kemp has Lisa Cornwell.
I assume there was no communications problem between Tsubasa Kajitani (-3) and Sami Hajri ...
... and ditto for Ayaka Furue (-5) and Michael Scot
A mixed bag of results today. Three of the four Olympians had mediocre starts, especially by their standards, but so far none of them is completely out of it. Even Jin Young is just seven shots back. Tomorrow is the time they need to get laser focused. This week and the Olympics are what they have been working for all year. I know Inbee can take this place apart when her putter is on; her Sunday, 2012 putting performance is still the best I have ever seen by anyone. Rooting like heck for them to turn this season on its ear.
Lee6 is gradually getting back to her superstar form. The big question is, can she keep it up? Hyo Joo has a score to settle here from two years ago, when one swing basically cost her the Major. In Gee showed a lot of patience; I think she had like 12 straight pars at one point, before ending with a bang. So Yeon is also in fine position.
I miss the days when the cameras only showed Lake Geneva and Super Peanut. Will those fruitcakes kiss the winner? Anything can happen in France. Another heart wrenching blog from Park. I believe she will return to the Tour and play well.
Wow, I have been waiting all year for a round like today by one of the Sisters. Absolutely incredible stuff from Jeongeun Lee6 today. This course has birdies out there, but a 61 is still off-the-charts amazing. Even when she missed, she just chipped it in. And even more scary, she actually missed a couple of short birdies on 2 and 3, too, or could have been scaring 59. Incendiary golf from Six. So so happy to see her get the spotlight!!
(by the way, this wasn't her lowest ever score! She shot a 60 on the KLPGA, the lowest score in that tour's history, a record that still stands).
Inbee was overshadowed, but she shot her own 64 to move from also-ran to sorta contender (OK, 8 shots behind Six, but there's lots of golf left). That's just what I wanted to see before she heads to Tokyo. Now we just have to see Jin Young make the cut and put together a decent title defense. Keep Hwaiting, Jin Young!
Hats off to In Gee as well. She even reached the green on 9. She has had two very solid rounds, two 68s, but she now needs to look at going low on the weekend.
Jin Young shot a 69 today, so she'll make the cut. But Nelly also made it and they are tied. Hoping that Jin Young can make up some points in the rankings, so fingers crossed she can show some hot stuff this weekend.
Hyo Joo finished at 7 under. Not bad, tied with Inbee.
Great round by Jeongeun Lee6 to tie the Course Record. The round was similar to the Course Record sixty she shot on the KLPGA She finished with a string of birdies there also. The KLPGA sixty was more impressive, because she didn't have the easy par fives.
Inbee Park had a great round also with nine birdies and a double bogey. She only missed two greens which was great.
In Gee and Hyo Joo also had good rounds.
I was surprised that So Yeon had a poor round. At least she made the cut and can savage her Tournament. After finishing out of the top twenty five the last Major. I thought that she would start another streak this week. It will be really tough, unless she go really low on the weekend.
NEWS FLASH: MHL is gaming a Ping club ... I have never seen this before since first meeting her in 2014. Other photos from Round Two show her with Cally woods, so this might be her only Ping in the bag ... I assume it's a FW, looks too bulky to be a UT. This warrants a close-up investigation in October.
