Hi All
Just a thought while reading about Tennis's handling of the Covid situation.
We are a few months away from the Asian swing and I expect it to be cancelled for the second year in a row.
Will the same occur for the LPGA? I cant see these events going ahead as all four countries have quarantine requirements.
What are your thoughts and will the new Commissioner be trying to organize some replacement events?

I bet the first event of the swing at Shanghai will be canceled. I'm more optimistic re Korea and Japan as KLPGA and JLPGA tournaments are being held currently.

What new commissioner? You mean Salmon? Where is she? Has she started the job yet? Has she been at any of the recent LPGA events? Nichols has her "first day on the job" article template ready to fill in if the new boss ever shows up at the office.

I think that I saw her putting the No. 1 cape on Nelly Korda at the Tournament.

I was just thinking the new commish has been MIA. I also saw the 5-second clip of her handing the #1 bib to Nellie's caddie, but she said nothing and rushed back to blend in with the crowd. Meanwhile Whan gave a lengthy interview, says he started his new job two weeks early on 6/15, settled into his new house, and has already changed the culture and office dress code (to T-shirts and flip-flops) at the USGA.

The new commish doesn't the job start til next month.
All I care about really is if she'll be a slave to the networks like Whan or if she'll dare to bring content distribution into this century.

Everything I read said the new commisioner would start on 7/1 but that was awhile ago and I might have missed the news about her delaying her start to sometime in August If that's true -- with Whan exiting mid-June -- that will be nearly two months the LPGA will be without a commissioner at a critical time. Say what you will about those "Drive On" events, they were Whan's baby and they filled the gaps during a period when the LPGA could have just shut down for the season. He even put up his own club for one of the events and played an on-course reporter when GC found itself understaffed at the last minute due to Covid. Let's hope there are no Asian swing or other cancellations during this leadership gap.

Lol, just checked the official word from the press release is she will "transition into the role over the coming months". So, who knows...

Transition? Well I guess she has more important things to do.
The hell?

Yea it's not encouraging. Besides handing the #1 caddie bib out, the only thing I've seen her done is reply to some PGA tweet about how they should specify they were referring to a men's major with The Open. Personally, I think it's silly for the PGA themselves to make the distinction. The tour is obviously talking about their own events. Or at least there's about a million more important things for her to worry about.

I’m sure the new commish isn’t lifting a finger until after Labor Day. Objects at rest.

Shack reports that the PGA Tour Asian Swing is likely to be cancelled. I'm looking forward to hearing from the LPGA commissioner on what she's doing for the women's events. Oops...I forgot she's "transitioning" or maybe starting in a couple months. After all, why would she take on her duties in the middle of the busiest part of the season? www.geoffshackelford.com/homepage/2021/7/22/report-pga-tours-2021-asia-swing-seems-in-doubtIt appears the three-event swing through Asia—the CJ Cup, ZOZO and WGC HSBC—are in doubt or unlikely to be played in their traditional locations.
One person with knowledge of the negotiations said that the CJ Cup is looking into venues in the U.S. again, but the other two events in Asia likely wouldn’t relocate to the U.S., meaning some players would likely be reluctant to travel because of the pandemic.

LPGA already went to Asia once this year, so don't know why they wouldn't go again in the fall. Seems like their bubble worked. Japan and Korea have been hosting tournaments all along - not sure about China. Also, wonder how much pull Korean and Japanese sponsors have in the decision? They spend lots of money on these players.
