This one starts Friday for a field of 120 ... top-70 plus ties make the cut. This event is infamous for the pink bikini contest ... will they still have it?

This event is infamous for the pink bikini contest ... will they still have it? I'm assuming the annual bikini contest has fallen victim to COVID protocols, or you would have surely posted photos by now.

It's too early to say ... they usually bring in the girls after the first or second round. The Samantha Thavasa staffers like Kotono Kozuma would be up on a stage with a microphone during the preliminaries tossing out swag to the crowd.

I know she always wilts by the end, but it's a fact that Eight Head has a one-shot lead at -5 thru nine holes during the early going.

Goat tracky scores ... I guess they're entitled once in a while. As usual, this event's YouTube links are geo-blocked. Rogue videos can found with this search (good luck finding one without malware) -

Great first round by Kotone Hori minus five, six birdies one bogey. Natsuka minus two had a good round.
Yui Kawamoto still struggling to finish a round. She had two birdies and two bogeys through fifteen holes, finished with two bogeys, double.

It appears that the bikini girls are out this year, and I don't think the pandemic is the only reason. It's apparent in the tournament title, and also based on the TV Tokyo commercials, that the GMO Internet Group is very much the lead sponsor of this tournament ... even had a complex spot featuring staffer Hana Wakimoto, who is struggling to keep her card. Samantha Thavasa is relegated to junior partner of this event ... their commercial came across as staid and conservative, as if they're trying to clean up its act (hence, the lack of girls). There were no golf visuals in ST's ad and their staffers are barely visible on the tour these days ... Natsuka Hori almost always trunk slams and Kotono Kozuma, sporting a one-piece fat suit the last couple of years, isn't doing much better.
The cut was Even and 73 players made it.

Kotone Hori fell down the Leaderboard, had five birdies but four bogeys. Looking for a top ten now.
Yui Kawamoto two birdies no bogeys, missed cut because of the bad finish first round.
Natsuka Hori went from first round minus two, to second round plus eight.

Kotone Hori got inside the top ten at minus nine after birdie on fifteen. But she must have talked to Yui about how to finish a round. She made bogey on two of the last three holes to drop to a fourteenth tie.

I could not get the TV Tokyo feed to work on Firefox or IE, which was quite unusual. Two weeks and two playoffs for Wakabayashi, but this time she nailed it down.

One of the more interesting winner's WITB - for all you hackers out there (including me), check your egos in the parking lot. Wakabayashi had a streak of 85 straight holes without a bogey covering the last two events.
