Why are football gridiron stripes on the 16th green? Which reminds me ... did anyone ever have the Roger Staubach Monday Night Football game? It was quite good ... probably came out right after Dallas won Super Six in 1972.

It was repeat news on Larry the Looper's blog that caddies would get canned after majors. Unfortunately, the LPGA website didn't have a looper list at Olympic, so this would be hard to verify this year. As for this week, one of MHL's ex-haulers, Andrew Tschudin, has resurfaced with Pajaree A. He was with Cameron Davis on the PGA tour going back to 2018 (per Getty Images). Audrey Gerdes might have a regular bag with B. Altomare ... B.A. didn't play Mediheal, but they were together at the match play. Now for the potentially BIG news ... with MHL off this week, Dr. Noh has Jesus Mozo. This might be a one-week loan-out ... or maybe not ... we'll find out next week.

It seems that the LPGA caddie list is not the Gospel. Look up Min Lee and it says "don't know yet" ... well, now we know, it's Cheeseburger Chad Payne. The list still shows him with Jiwon Jeon, but she didn't miss him today (71, -1).

The Golf Course has been renovated since the last Tournament was played. The driving Range has been expanded and a number of holes have been changed. The water is new and I hope that they have added Valet Parking. If not have the buss drop you off near the first Tee instead of a mile away. Also full fan attendance is allowed.
It seems the par fives are all easier than before, with almost everybody making birdie. Even short hitting Chella Choi made Eagle on eighteen.
Most of the Korean golfers are minus three or better except Sung Hyun, A Lim Kim and Jeongeun Lee6. Looks like with this Golf Course set up, any of them can go low tomorrow.
A Lim four fairways hit and Sung Hyun two Fairways hit, really needs to do better than that. Because making pars wont get you anywhere, you need to make lots of birdies.
By the way Henderson three over par today. I wonder if she will withdraw like last Tournament after the high score. Golf Digest breaking news yesterday, was that her sister wont be on her bag this Tournament
Edit: For got to mention Jeongeun Lee6 only missed four greens, but had thirty four putts. So if she has those stats tomorrow and putt like she usually does, she will score a lot better.

If some consider this the season of the "wrong" player winning, then it's a perfect opportunity for Su Oh to finally kick the door in. I became a big fan 4-5 years ago during one of the defunct NZ events. Remember how they had a LIVE Facebook video of the mid-week player party? This guy, who was just too provincial and dorky for my tastes, was doing quick meet-and-greet interviews with people as they arrived and Su handled the situation deftly like a red carpet veteran. I haven't watched her much in person ... the last time might have been at Bedminster in 2017 on Sunday when she teed off at #1 with Georgia Hall. I thought about following them for a few holes to kill time, but went with Nelly and Yoshiba instead.

The ZZ Top guy on Stephenson's bag is Josh Williams. I don't know if he always wears a Detroit Tigers cap, or if he is just paying respects to the locals. This is a different guy from the bearded loopers that Kelly Tan has had in the last few years.

I second the hope for Su Oh to break through! Have followed parts of her rounds at several tournaments, and really deserves a win. She's been remarkably good on this course - and the renovations seem not to have affected that.
Has there been a tournament this year with more players under par? This is a bit insane.

Round 1
It was an all right start for the top Sisters, with the exception of Six. In Gee and Inbee had tidy 4 unders, Jin Young 3 under. The big question, of course, is will they keep it up? Recent history doesn't give me much hope, but I do know they are gonna get back on their feet sooner or later, so why not now? Yeah, this doesn't seem like an ideal course for them, but they have to start sometime.
Sisters Hwaiting!

I t seems like hitting the greens wasn't a problem for most Golfers. Making putts were a whole different story.
In Gee Chun and Chella Choi tied ninth were the only "Sisters" in the top ten.
Jeongeun Lee6 had a great round of sixty six, with seven birdies one bogey.. Basally her greens in regulation were similar, but she made the putts this time. Making birdie from the fairway also helped.
Jin Young Ko another sixty nine, four birdies one bogey. Hit 18/18 greens but had thirty four putts which really hurt her score.
Inbee Park was also hurt by putting, missed one green, with thirty three putts.
Same oh same oh, A Lim Kim sixteen of eighteen greens, thirty three putts. But she did make birdie on the last hole to make the cut.
I didn't watch much of the Broadcast, got tired of the Henderson, Thompson show. Tidbit: Min Seo Kwak shot seventy one in five of her last six rounds. Unfortunately she shot seventy six the final round of the last Tournament. The minus two missed the cut in this Tournament kind of weird.

Wow, Chella gettin no respect even here.
She already has a win ... that's why I'm rooting for Su Oh. My second choice for first win is Gimmee, but she completely blew it on Friday ... at least she gets the first tee time with Muni on Saturday.

I don't claim that the website above is the absolute authority on golf courses, but the people who have compiled it have seen a lot more layouts than I. Go to the North America tab, click on Michigan and try to find Blythefield CC -- you won't. It did not make the state's top-70 ... and Midland CC for the Dow team event didn't make the list. Okay, here's a stretch objective for the incoming LPGA commish ... get the tour onto better courses ... it won't be easy as most private clubs say DRIVE ON OFF to the LPGA.
BTW, I hit the links for the first time in 2021 this week ... a scramble outing at Forsgate CC (Banks course) ... my team shot par, 71, which was not good enough for any prizes, but just playing that course for free is a prize (course is ranked 13th in NJ). Inside the pro shop is a framed, modest-sized LPGA poster from about ten years ago which says THESE GIRLS ROCK ... but not here. In my fantasy universe, the LPGA will play there for the first time since the late 1970s ... before I die, I hope.
*********
I thought Gillman had the swing and winning experience to do some real damage on the LPGA ... boy, I sure got that one wrong. She hit the off-ramp to Palookaville in 2020 and is pulling into the Bates Motel parking lot in 2021 ... that's five straight trunk slams (excluding the no-cut Honda/Thailand).
*******
From Thursday ... this might be the first time NASA ever wore a visor ... looks good on her, more women pros should do this. They have the luxury of HAIR preventing their scalps from getting roasted ... I have a nice denim blue Titleist visor I bought cheap about a dozen years ago ... "circumstance" have forced me to retire it.

So far so good for Xi Yu Lin applying the screws to Yu Liu.

Round 2 The good news is that it was a pretty good day for most of the Sisters today. The bad news is that one player has staked herself out to a big lead. Fortunately there is still a lot of time to get back into it. I suspect someone might have to go low to take this, but it's about time this year for the Sisters to produce some magic! In Gee shot a solid 67, while Inbee and Jin Young both duped their day one scores and are decently positioned. Lee6 holed out from the fairway for birdie, then went on a run, eventually shooting a great 66 to easily make the cut. Chella Choi is also in the top ten, and A Lim and Inky made the cut. Sisters hwaiting!!

Whoa live LPGA in the middle of the day, what did we do to deserve this? I guess the planets are lined up just right: the PGAT plays a major, the senior citizen men's tour is on a break, and the LPGA is in a different time zone.
