I am doing this a little early this week as I will be driving to Virginia tomorrow to cover the event for Womensgolf.com. This will be one of the weaker field this year as it seems that most of the players that made the trip to Asia will be taking the week off. Many will be taking 2 weeks off (Not in next weeks match play field either). My field rating is a very low 42.5%, down from 73.5% when it was last played in 2019. My breakdown is 51% from LPGA Priority List and 34% from the Rolex Rankings. Skipping the event this week (there are too many to list, but I will name most key players) Jin Young Ko Jeongeun Lee6 Minjee Lee Danielle Kang Hyo Joo Kim Hannah Green M.J. Hur Carlota Ciganda Shanshan Feng Amy Yang So Yeon Ryu Moriya Jutanugarn Inbee Park Celine Boutier Caroline Masson Azahara Munoz Mi Hyang Lee Morgan Pressel Nasa Hataoka Gaby Lpoez Mirim Lee Patty Tavatanakit Jenny Shin Chella Choi Yealimi Noh Lydia Ko Annie Park Ashley Buhai Georgia Hall I.K. Kim Hee Young Park Sophia Popov Charley Hull I guess it probably would have been easier to list who was playing As of this writing both Jutanugarn sisters were late entries. Ariya was put into the field...but sister Moriya was listed as the first alternate and may not get in. I am a bit disappointed that many of my favorites will not be there (Danielle, Hee Young especially) but looking forward to seeing this course.

Do the Race to The CME Globe golfer that finish first in points get anything, except an Atta boy girl. I can't find anything about payouts or Trophy except for the Tournament winner or players. They make a big deal about the Race To The CME Globe. It seem to me like a race to the top sixty because the 60th player has the same chance as the number one point getter. So is there another payout or Trophy for the first place point winner.
It's different on the PGA Tour Championship where the Player with the most season ending point total are rewarded. Which makes more sense, I am not sure why the LPGA made the change after I believe 2018.

So it doesn't matter if you finished first or 60th..there is no advantage to anyone. Personally, I liked the old way better. On another note, and I am sure you know this, the Race to the CME Globe points will now be used to determine next year's Priority List instead of the money list.

Youngin Chun can't catch a break. Ariya and Moriya were late entry's and knocked her out.
Edit: Kim Williams was the third late entry. She shot plus eleven.

Good first rounds for Sei Young Kim and Jiwon Jeon. Both had five birdies and one bogey.
In Gee Chun had the one birdie on the front nine. But had a horrible finish on back nine with bogey, par, bogey, bogey, bogey, triple bogey.
A Lim Kim didn't play that bad but a final triple bogey hurt. She had two other bogeys and no birdies, with thirty five putts.
Gabriela Ruffels needs to go low to avoid missing the cut. Five bogeys and one birdie is not a good start. She missed six greens and had thirty five putts. So her short game still needs improvement.

KT at T2 on the leaderboard, 5 birdies vs. 1 bogey. GC was forced to interrupt the Paula Creamer Show to grudgingly cover a few of her shots. She has the first early AM tee time on Friday at 7:15am. Put up a number and let the field try and catch you.

Round 1
Brutal day for In Gee, although she was fine until she ran into the final few holes. I noticed a few players struggling on 18; was there some wind or bad weather? A Lim also had a triple there.
On the other hand, fine day for SYK and Ji Won Jeon. I kind of like this course, but it's too bad that several of my faves are already out of it. Especially since In Gee has nearly won here in the past. Oh well...
Hwaiting!

Pretty good bunce back round for In Gee, a 69. Probably isn't going to be good enough, but nice try. A Lim also was under par, but both she and In Gee are parked at 4 over, t-95th at the moment... Triple bogies are killers. If either had made a bogey on 18 yesterday instead, they'd probably have made the cut. In Gee on day one: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPHT9JMgeWP

There is an outside chance that plus four can make the cut. Lots of plus two and plus three still has to play.
I wonder if Yujeong Son is going to get her game together. She is young and doesn't get many chances to play. Her drives were ok at 248 yards and missed six Fairways. No big numbers, six bogeys and no birdies, but hit only eight greens. When I watched her practice at the Legacy Resort, her ball striking looked good.
Alison Lee, what happened to her game, plus seven second round. I've been blaming her play on the PXG Clubs. But it's all her that needs to get better. I hate to see a golfer with her talent wash out.

Round 2 Sei Young has been particularly sloppy this year. She can makes birdies and eagles, but she can also make a lot of bad mistakes. Today we saw a little of both. But with luck, she's gotten her bad stuff out of her system, because she's pretty much all there is left to fight for the Sisters this week. Alas, both In Gee and A Lim missed the cut by a shot. I had a feeling early that 3 over was the number. Oh well, more time to prepare for match play. Sisters hwaiting!
