P.T. the Extra-Terrestrial & the other players know there's no such thing as a bomber's course. Somebody needs to stop her before it is too late. Good luck.

Great round by So Yeon, it looked like she may really go low with a six birdie front nine. However she started slow on the back nine with a bogey on fifteen. But she came back with a birdie on sixteen and eighteen.
Chella Choi made a run with a six birdie front nine to get to minus thirteen. She had three birdies and two bogeys back nine to finish at minus fourteen. It's a really crowded Leaderboard at the top.

Beautiful rounds for In Gee, So Yeon and Lee6. So Yeon was -6 on her front nine; In Gee finished with five straight birdies for a season best 65. And Lucky 6 had three birdies in her final four. Too bad it probably won't matter because there is no score low enough that can make up enough ground. But still nice to see!

It's a really crowded Leaderboard at the top.
It's a really crowded Leaderboard at the bottom. My unscientific research indicates that MHL never finished a full LPGA event at DFL, but it's not too late to pick up some Japanese as a third language.

Round 3
Rarely have I been less inspired by a leaderboard that doesn't feature Lexi Thompson. If the leading score had stayed around 15 under or 16 under, which it was for a while, there might have been a chance that one of the Sisters could make a run, but barring a miracle I don't see the winning score being less than 21 under, and it seems really unlikely someone at 11 or 12 under gets there.
Positives? In Gee, So Yeon, Amy, Chella and Lee6 all have good shots at top tens, maybe even top fives. At this point, Ryu in particular needs as good a finish as she can get to make it to Tokyo. Let's send vibes out that one or more of them can go mega low on Sunday; how about a 62?
Hwaiting!

Hee Young Park had an awful front nine with three bogeys and a double. She did kind of rebound on the back nine with four birdies and one bogey.
Yui Kawamoto finally had a good round, with one birdie and one bogey on the front nine. However she had a three birdie one Eagle on par five eighteen back nine.
Happy days are here again for the LPGA because it will take twenty under or less to win.

The race to the bottom is really heating up as MHL and Torres, in the same threesome. are dragging each other into the toilet during the early going. Jenny from The ROK is down there, too ... maybe still injured?

Round 4
Much like I figured would happen, even some truly great rounds from the Sisters weren't enough to make up the ground and get this win. Congrats to Ariya.
The Sisters did about everything you could hope for to try to steal this thing. Amy just kept making birdie after birdie on the front nine. She was at 18 under by the 7th hole. If she could have kept that up, she might have gotten the victory. An unfortunate bogey stopped her charge and she was always a shot or two too far back the rest of the way. But a final round 64 with nine birdies is still pretty special.
So Yeon made her charge in the middle of her round with 7 birdies in 10 holes. But like Amy, a sudden late bogey ended her chances. She actually came a roll or so away from nailing an eagle on the last, but again, a final round 64, even on this course, is great.
In Gee "only" shot a 67, and alas she just missed a top ten (she only gained 3 places despite a 67. Yeesh). But she had no bogies and went 65-67 on the weekend. She has got to be ready to start at least challenging for trophies soon. Amazingly, she had 30 putts again. Also 15/18 GIR.
Shout out to Chella for her top ten. Hot Six somehow had three bogies, but still had 14/18 GIR. Her pattern seems to be mediocre first and last round, strong middle rounds. This is still better than some of her other results lately, so fingers crossed she's turning a corner.
Sisters hwaiting!!!

As a fan of the sisters it is easy to blame western media for their persistent blackballing and refusal to credit Korean players. However that treatment pales in comparison to how they've treated Ariya, who is IMO arguably the most talented player in the world. When she entered into a deep slump, it was like she never existed in the first place. I am glad to see Thai players doing well, I think it's great overall for the LPGA and probably just as disheartening for western golf as Korean success.
I'll be honest, after the first couple rounds I was ready to declare Patty T the next big thing. Like, number one in the near future. Still bullish though. Maybe it's that Hana Bank logo, I can't help but see it as a kind of seal of approval.

Great run up the Leaderboard for So Yeon Ryu to tie for third place. Even thou this was a "Mickey Mouse" Tournament set-up, preferred lies, 428 Yard par five final hole. So Yeon making a birdie on half the holes was still impressive.
A second Tournament where seventeen under doesn't make the top ten. Is this where the LPGA is heading, to become a Video Game.

Actually, I've always felt like Ariya got good treatment from the American media relatively speaking, at least when she was at the top. Remember when So Yeon was #1 in the world? Apparently it never happened, because she got absolutely zero attention from the West at that point (seriously, find an article focusing on her as the top player. I don't think there was one). Jin Young has been #1 for more than a year, and there are still times when she doesn't get a media friendly pairing.
Now, if the Thais start to become more regularly at the top, I fully expect that they will start getting cast as villains over here like the Koreans are now. I recall Se Ri got pretty good press -- at first. Just a few years later, Stephenson was blathering that Asians (she meant Koreans) were 'ruining the tour', and there were few in the media who stood up to stop her. She sailed into the HOF, which I still think is completely inexcusable but whatever.

She sailed into the HOF, which I still think is completely inexcusable but whatever. Hard to ignore when a player wins like four times in a row! But over the last couple of years while she lost a bunch of weight and a motion picture about her life story had a theatrical release in Thailand, we heard nothing about it over here. I think they just dislike her. I recall commentators constantly tutting over her pre-shot routine, like they know how to play any better. Ariya is not just an elite player IMO, with her swing speed she is uniquely qualified to advance the whole women's game, help legitimize it in the eyes of the male establishment. Kind of like an Anne Van Dam but with a complete golf game, and actually wins tournaments. I understand that it is pretty much impossible for them to find a bridge over the cultural gap but imagine if an American player came along with Ariya caliber of game and swing. She would instantly be made the poster girl for women's golf.

I know that Ariya won this birdie fest, but she has not played that good lately. If the LPGA is looking to a golfer that can't hit a driver to advance the Ladies' game. Ariya is not that golfer, lets wait and see how she plays the rest of the year. She was an elite player when she was making a lot of five feet putts. I could be totally wrong in my assessment of her, so we will see.

Steph Curry taking one picture in an LPGA hoody will do more for women’s golf than 100 years of PGA tour players combined.
